    Great content mate! if you want to see this spot before they cleared it check out some of my older videos, it has been totally damaged now, a word of advise though it's illegal to make the hole size on those bait traps bigger for freshwater fishing in creeks east of the Great Dividing range, it can drown Platypus, native Water Rats, and Turtles if they get caught, just thought I'd give you the heads up as fisheries do patrol these areas, it's a pain those Geo's are in there though and in such numbers, they breed like rabbits, I found the easiest way to catch them is at night with a torch, they sit on the edges and you can just scoop them up.

      Thanks appreciate the advice, I have since gone back and fished for some geo hook line sinker and had some success. It’s a nice place to visit and I have seen some of your older videos but didn’t realise you’d actually filmed this actual location.

      @@Dundeel. It used to be really nice and full of fish and aquatic plants, it was a bit of a let down seeing it like this, I used to go snorkelling there, believe it or not it was much clearer and deeper, even the turtles were tame, there used to be a couple of native water rats to but I haven't seen them since it's been cleared.

      @@australianbiotopes4563 that’s really sad to hear.. have the pearl cichlids been in there for long? My uncle fishes Wivenhoe he gets them as by catch in his shrimp nets as well all the time.. I guess at least not seeing numbers of gambusia or tilapia is at least a decent sign

    • @australianbiotopes4563
      @australianbiotopes4563 Год назад +2

      @@Dundeel. Yes they have been around for a fair while, I have seen them in their 1000s in some other spots unfortunately, I'm also happy for some reason there aren't to many Gambusia there or there probably wouldn't be so many Rainbows, I have caught some really big Geo's there in the past, but now I only seem to see young ones, but even the small ones breed rapidly.

    • @Dundeel.
      @Dundeel.  Год назад +2

      @@australianbiotopes4563 interesting my uncle only seem to start catching them in his shrimp nets within the last 2 years prior to that never seen them. There were some really big ones in there when I first filmed this video start of last year and when I returned only last week or even the video I fished the rainbow fish out which was before Christmas the numbers were dwindled down and barely any big ones at all. But I know what you mean about the rapid breeding the footage I took of them on this is probably just from one pair they have no predators in there at all I did find some spangled perch in there but they didn’t seem very aggressive towards them which is odd for spangled perch

    You look Very Attentive to the Surroundings & being quite safe in your movements, Been at these kind of places & seen some Eastern Browns drinking from the waters edge & their heads were pretty much the only thing you could see because of the Grass.
    Stay safe.

    The underwater footage was epic bro 🔥🔥🔥 that is why I’m here chasing the Geophagus Brasilliensis a stunning fish … Night time scooping was my easiest way to catching this elusive breed , other than a homemade fish/birdcage trap lol that caught four babies after a week went by … Thanks bro for this awesome content 🔥❤️‍🔥🔥😎🤙🏼👍🏼

    What I appreciate:
    Reality. Some other channels seem to only upload videos of success. True experiences will show young kids (or old adults😊) that every day is different, and sometimes it goes for days without a successful "hunt".
    The underwater capture was lovely. So was the music. If you didn't list it, would you tell me the title please?

Man wish we had rainbow fish here. Yeah next time mate go and night with a net and torch and you will literally catch as many as you want. Good content mate. cheers

    We got a baby Convict today at the end of Ridge st Greenslopes using a net.
    Not sure why but he was cruising around with a school of Gambusia.
    It was almost still a fry. Not quite the width of my little finger but still had his stripes.
    We have a community tank and we only put the fish we catch in local creeks into it.
    A couple of pairs of each type if available.

      Oh my that's the last type of fish we need in our waterways, they breed like rats lol. I may go have a look down there one day.

      @@Acidassassin420 You just never know what you will get when you get there.
      Whenever it rains, everything gets washed down into the salt water at Stones Cnr and different fish get washed down from further up from where we are.
      We have caught Fire tail gudgeons, spotted gudgeons, emperor gudgeons, purple spotted gudgeons, flat headed gudgeons, spangled gudgeons, sward tails, Gambusia, platies, mullet, herring, tilapia, convicts and crimson rainbows. There are others but these are the ones we have caught that I remember of the top of my head.
      You just dont know what you will get each time you go there.
      Have a go yourself and let me know what you get. Good luck.

    What upsets me the most about the invasives in this country, is what they have done to our Pearch.
    In any Brisbane Creek if you threw a line in, you were going to catch Silver, spangled Pearch and even Yellow Belly when I was a kid. Im now in my early 50's and you really need to go out of Brisbane to catch them. Yes there are a few places left where they are clinging but invasive fish, especially Tilapia are out competing them.
    Last time we got a feed of Yellow Belly we had to travel to Moree (Gamilaroi peoples country) and got some of the locals to show us where and how.
