Ace, thanks for sharing Murky Seb. Really cool to see the blue eyes shoaling with the mullet. I didn’t know they did that. I read that Pseudomugil means ‘false mullet’, do you reckon that’s where they get the name from?
Wonderful footage of your adventures Seb. Loved the up-close of the bee drinking. Wonder how this area is after the flooding. So many gudgeons! What a find. So many interesting facts about water dragons too.
I live in central Brisbane and the local creek is a major water runoff from many suburbs. Every time I go to catch fish, we find something different. I love gudgeons the most. My fav fish to catch. So far we have got the usual Fire tails but lots of different single type catches. Ive caught one Peacock Gudgeon, which was a male.I also had the exact same experience with an Emperor Gudgeon. I put my net in and saw this bright orange red fish just the same way. Had to take it home to ID it. Further down the creek ends into brackish water and we have got a few Striped Gudgeons. Also in the same spot we have got Flat Headed Gudgeons. Also one more I am still trying to ID. They seem to be the only fish able to compete with all the invasives in this spot. No Blue Eyes or Rainbows. Nothing. I am sure I have seen Tilapia there at times but because its a major water run off creek, it gets flushed out often and nothing seems to take a hold for any length of time. We have also caught lots of Mullet and baby Herrings that have swam up into the fresh water from where it meets the salt. Cheers for the Video. Love natives.

@@murkyseb Cool! I haven't seen the freshwater rays in the wild but worked in an aquarium when I was younger and they had some, along with freshwater Moray Eels.

The eggs hatch in 10 hours not two weeks! 😅 I know because they breed regularly in my aquarium and the fry hatch in ten hours.
