I said months ago that even if you didn't do a reaction due to it's length, you needed to hear Reptile. Stoked that the time has finally come and that not even a fraction of the way through you declared it a perfect match to your taste. In my opinion it is a masterpiece and my favorite piece of music.
If you want know more about the band, they have released a few documentaries focused on their respective album. I think you would find the HAIL STAN documentary the most interesting as they talk about working with live studio musicians like the string and choir in reptile. Somewhere in one of those videos is Misha geeking out over his synths and playing around with pads and such.
It simply can’t. Even reaction channels with 1mil+ subs who especially focus on music will never be able to monetize their channels cuz every single video of his gets copyright striked, which isn’t a penalty or anything, it just means that the label is now allowed to place ads and collect that revenue. It even happens to my channel and I have less than 200 subs and I’m covering the songs on guitar, playing over them at a pretty loud volume and sometimes even adding my own parts for songs that for example have no guitar riffs in the verse or something and I still get claimed. So we (this channel and mine) can never monetize with the use of Adsense or any mid-video ads. But yes, he should have a silver RUclips Play button by now and it’s fucked up that he doesn’t. RUclips pretty much sucks balls. Oh he is getting to the point where he can get sponsored, like by Raid Shadow Legends...I know that everyone reading this has seen a video sponsored by them lol. Those can bring in a decent 💰. Hopefully RUclips let’s him know about that if he reaches out to them again.
@@ZolFox Just for clarity, it’s copyright claims that result in ads. Copyright strike is where they make you take the video down. 3 copyright strikes and YT shuts down the channel forever.
I can’t stress enough legitimately how happy this makes me. I’ve fell into the euphoric Periphery hole not too long ago and this is the song that absolutely kills me. I can’t help but get chills and just feel so much emotion from this song, and I don’t think it’s too far to say this song alone brought me back into music (been playing music since age 4, now 26). Incredibly happy to hear you listen to this and react. Such an amazing and awesome feeling watching someone enjoy this as much as I do
If you haven't already, I highly recommend a deep dive into this album as a whole. As others have mentioned in the comments, this is their first record under their own label and you can really see them flex their creative muscles all the way throughout, experimenting with tons of different sounds throughout with their freedom from restraint! Thank you for the great video!
This song has nuances from the song garden in the bones ... I feel if you listen to this song you HAVE to listen to that one as well ... you're the coolest grandad ever
To your point about the intervals in the writing, this song’s guitar tuning is G-G-C-F-A-D so they can get some big chords and use really interesting voicings without too much stretching
The extra vocalist you hear during that mellow part is the singer of the band SIKTH. He is in this song as well as Spencer from Periphery is in one of theirs. Both are amazing performances. ALSO. THIS IS THE OPENING TRACK OF THE ALBUM. Think about what kind of setting this sets for the whole thing. What a balsy move to put a 16 minutes song as the opener.
yeah sikth is dope, on periphery's tour after this album came out they had sikth as one of their openers. i havent heard of them before that but i sure as hell started listening to them after that
First time hearing these guys. But as to 16 min songs, I've eclectic taste, and love long songs, Tool, first Goldie album first song timeless was like 21 minutes, brought it unheard, as I liked Tricky, Massive, and the rest of the Bristol sounds. Put it on at a party for first heart. Might have been high but blew my mind. Back to this song, love it and it's as long as it should be, I'm going to have to dive into their catalogue now.
@@Sandfords_Most_Wanted if you had to recommend a Tess song for him to pick... which one would it be? I always have a hard time recommending 1 particular song from them. Either “Of matter” or “Eden” if I had to pick.

Genuine tears of joy in my eyes through most of this video. To see someone get to share in the emotion and appreciation that most of the time I feel alone in experiencing through the music I listen to is such a joy and pleasure. Awwwright!
I'm so glad that you covered this song. I had never heard this song or heard of the band prior to watching this, but this has now become one of my favorite songs of all time. This band and this song specifically hits me somewhere special I didn't previously know existed, but knew was possible
It makes me incredibly happy to see someone react and enjoy this the way that I do. I know many would disagree and that’s fine, but I think this is one of the best pieces of music I’ve ever listened to! I just love everything about it.
Another reason why I like Periphery is that they have motifs across their album. Similar melodies shared in this song, crush, garden in the bones. most of their albums have these hidden gems. Add this to the vast list of reason why Periphery is to be cherished.
been watching you for a few months now and i absolutely love your genuine, un-edited reactions / takeaways from the compositions. Don't change a thing!!!!
It won’t get a ton of views, but since you really like this and between the buried and me, I really think you should check out Native Construct - Chromatic Aberration. It’s another long song, but absolutely mind blowing. Also extremely powerful. Will take you through a range of emotions. I would say it is on the level of reptile in terms of the theatrics of the composition and the images it will put in your head. Written by teenagers at Berkeley in their dorm room a few years back.
Great suggestion. Chromatic Abberation is definitely a ride, but I believe it's best listened to after listening to the rest of the album first. As a composition its really chaotic and calls back to a lot of riffs and instruments in the preceding songs and that would be lost if this was the first song he heard. I believe Spark of Archon would be a better first listen but I'm sure he'd appreciate CA just the same.
This is honestly my most favorite song of all time. Just the best composition I've ever heard and still so heavy. Puts together everything about Periphery so perfectly and is so emotional and beautiful.
These guys are #1 on my bucket list to see live. I had tickets to see then but it got cancelled due to inclement weather. This album (and just about every album they put out) is just such a freaking experience man. I don’t play music but know enough to just recognize these guys are some of the most talented geniuses in the metal scene.
I will always maintain that the main intro/verse riff to this song is quite possibly the greatest guitar riff of all time. The way it drops at the intro, that mini-blues lick, the djentiness of that 6-string low G, those pinch harmonics and little chromatic dances - Doesnt matter how many times you hear it, it hits the PERFECT spot, everytime..
Native Construct- Mute Between the Buried and Me- Disease, Injury, Madness Mastodon- The Czar Some more great long songs that I think you’d appreciate! Love the content man!!
I got to see this live and the atmosphere is incredible. They sound arguably better live just because you can feel the music in your bones. They have been my favorite band for about 12 years now and always will be. Goosebumps everytime for me.
Finding it so interesting how you spoke about having Periphery work theatre! Their double album, Juggernaut Alpha & Omega, is in it's entirety a concept album with a full storyline start to finish, and although the albums aren't spoken about much nowadays they still hold their own as (imo) some of the greatest composition modern music has been exposed too. Also, I'm so happy to see the growth on your channel! Congrats man 😁
I think you should listen to Periphery -- Absolomb Beautiful song, great journey as well. Thanks for your reactions! It's really nice to see a man not just headbanging and stuff, but also analysing and decomposing the music, giving a deep personal reaction. Your videos are inspiring in a way. Keep it up, Geebz!
Reptile is such a journey of a song. and You are so great at reacting and pulling details out of music, it was a ton of fun to watch your movements and facial expressions during the more thick bits of the song. The only reaction channel I can stand watching. Reptile awwwright

Getting to see this full song played live and while being in the photo pit was one of the most visceral and amazing experiences I’ve ever had at a concert.
"these guys should do a metal musical" ooooh, boi. If you have the time, and I don't even mean that in a react way, just in your own time, these guys have a double album spanning about 2 hours that is basically just that. A storyline with reoccurring themes and sounds called Juggernaut Alpha and Omega. It is still one of my favorites from them because it is exactly that, this style as a musical. Love your content!

it would be really cool if you could check out "A Night On the Town" by The Dear Hunter, they're a progressive rock band that incorporate lots of orchestral elements into their music and that particular song showcases their versatility and great compositional skills. also it's a 9 minute track so it's a bit of a journey itself.

Geebz, its time to finally check out Racecar. A lot of fans (and even the band themselves) have differing thoughts about their first album, but the song is too good not to listen to. Fantastic vid as always!

I'm sure it takes time
RUclips has been hesitant to hand out plaques to reaction channels because the content "isn't original enough". Take that as you will...
Such an amazing and awesome feeling watching someone enjoy this as much as I do
Side note, watch their Periphery 4: Hail Stan documentary! It’s a killer look into all of this!
Realized also this makes it sound like I haven’t played music since I was 4. I’ve been away from playing music for about 5/6 years now.
Whole album is amazing
Cried a couple times the first time I heard this song
Listen to Satellites
This!
100% gave me goosebumps. It still does when Spencer hits those high notes near the end
Satellites is soo haunting... so musically perfect. Reptile is too. I love this album. And P3. Marigold... Prayer Position...
Reptile Awwwright!
This song has the coolest guitar solo I've ever heard, the strings are also awesome. This song is just all around great!
This song has nuances from the song garden in the bones ... I feel if you listen to this song you HAVE to listen to that one as well ... you're the coolest grandad ever
Straight up includes a whole section from the chorus of garden in the bones I believe. Cool foreshadow to another song later in the album.
@@gregm.8256 same notes, different lyrics
garden in the bone is definetly a reprise to reptile, i would say its one of the best melodic vocal lines ive ever heard
Spencer’s vocals are so ducking good! He literally goes with the flow of the song are so well!
This song is like a movie to me.
We would love some more of The Contortionist from you! The Parable would be cool to see.
Yes would love to see this maybe some more teseract as well
Yes love The Contortionist!
@@Sandfords_Most_Wanted if you had to recommend a Tess song for him to pick... which one would it be?
I always have a hard time recommending 1 particular song from them.
Either “Of matter” or “Eden” if I had to pick.
@@hailstone. it’s hard to pick a singular tesseract song as their entire discography in my eyes is amazing but Eden is a good call same of matter, broad appeal would go hexes or nocturne amazing songs but personal preference to see get some exposure would be April, one of my favourites
@@Sandfords_Most_Wanted totally agree. Great to know there’s like minded individuals out there lol
Yessssss - very excited for this one! thanks, Geebz!
PS - Still waiting on Symphony X - The Odyssey when you have 25 minutes ;)
@@gmspunt love me some symphony X every once in a while 💪
Genuine tears of joy in my eyes through most of this video. To see someone get to share in the emotion and appreciation that most of the time I feel alone in experiencing through the music I listen to is such a joy and pleasure. Awwwright!
I’m glad someone can put into words the feelings of joy these videos bring me haha
I'm so glad that you covered this song. I had never heard this song or heard of the band prior to watching this, but this has now become one of my favorite songs of all time. This band and this song specifically hits me somewhere special I didn't previously know existed, but knew was possible
This song’s story is what makes this EPIC. It’s a whole novel
It makes me incredibly happy to see someone react and enjoy this the way that I do. I know many would disagree and that’s fine, but I think this is one of the best pieces of music I’ve ever listened to! I just love everything about it.
Agreed! This song changed the way I look at heavy music forever.
and seeing it live is a religious experience.
Another reason why I like Periphery is that they have motifs across their album. Similar melodies shared in this song, crush, garden in the bones. most of their albums have these hidden gems. Add this to the vast list of reason why Periphery is to be cherished.
Reptile is done! Now, requests for Racecar and Omega. These are the longest songs in their catalog and very interesting to compare to each other.
Racecar!
Racecar > Reptile (palindromes FTW)
@@cookedrums1044 lol
@@cookedrums1044 on that note, 'racecar is racecar backwards' by Reuben is one of my favourite albums of all time
Must do Alpha with Omega. The way the ending of Omega ties in with the chorus of Alpha, but tweaked slightly, is brilliant.
Reptile! Awwright!
Brother, you know you're killing it when Misha--the man himself--is checking you out! Good vibes, just good vibes man. Keep at it!
This song is easily one of the greatest songs ever written from pretty much any angle you look at it.
The reactions I love are the one's where Geebz just whispers, "F...!" and shakes his head. Periphery are masters at layering.
Yes ! I love that he says he doesn’t want to swear on his channel but consistently mouths the F word to himself. I love it so much. lol
This song is a masterpiece
been watching you for a few months now and i absolutely love your genuine, un-edited reactions / takeaways from the compositions.
Native Construct are amazing. Would love to see them put out another album.
Man I loooove Native Construct they are really slept on. Too bad they split up...
@@trowabarton222 they broke up unfortunately 😕
I came here to recommend this song, too lol
Great suggestion. Chromatic Abberation is definitely a ride, but I believe it's best listened to after listening to the rest of the album first. As a composition its really chaotic and calls back to a lot of riffs and instruments in the preceding songs and that would be lost if this was the first song he heard. I believe Spark of Archon would be a better first listen but I'm sure he'd appreciate CA just the same.
Man I love seeing/hearing your reactions and analysis of my favorite songs. The positive energy you bring to your videos is so refreshing. Thank you!
One of my favorite songs of all time! Check out Lune by Periphery as well. A really moving song!
This is honestly my most favorite song of all time. Just the best composition I've ever heard and still so heavy. Puts together everything about Periphery so perfectly and is so emotional and beautiful.
This song is definitely a masterpiece! Periphery is one of my favorite bands and I love their live shows. Can listen to them all day long.
The bass underneath the vocal harmony around 19:50 is incredible!
These guys are #1 on my bucket list to see live. I had tickets to see then but it got cancelled due to inclement weather. This album (and just about every album they put out) is just such a freaking experience man. I don’t play music but know enough to just recognize these guys are some of the most talented geniuses in the metal scene.
I love the reaction to Spencer's vocal embellishment and 19:43 followed by the the "fuck" when he hits a note to the moon like 5 seconds later. Lol
would love to see The Contortionist - Monochrome (Pensive). Its one of my favorite tracks! Loved your analysis of Language 🙂
Those guys were so sick live it was unreal, they were supporting periphery too haha
This band has given me so many wonderful musical moments over the last decade. Just amazing stuff.
Couldn’t agree more. Perfectly put.
19:27 That "oof" face is my reaction everytime I hear that part.
Native Construct- Mute
Between the Buried and Me- Disease, Injury, Madness
Mastodon- The Czar
Some more great long songs that I think you’d appreciate!
Congrats man 😁
SATELLITES! Cmon geebz, this is the next one! Please!!!!
Reptile!! AWWWRIGHT!
I think you should listen to
Periphery -- Absolomb
Beautiful song, great journey as well.
Thanks for your reactions! It's really nice to see a man not just headbanging and stuff, but also analysing and decomposing the music, giving a deep personal reaction.
Your videos are inspiring in a way.
Keep it up, Geebz!
My favorite Periphery song, hands down.
@@StevenKrug Same! I love that song so much
Rick Beato’s breakdown of Absolomb is my favorite video on this entire platform.
Reptile is such a journey of a song. and You are so great at reacting and pulling details out of music, it was a ton of fun to watch your movements and facial expressions during the more thick bits of the song. The only reaction channel I can stand watching. Reptile awwwright
super glad you got around to this one. been listening to periphery since around 2010 and really got to hand it to them, they really showed us something great with this track for sure. prog metal is just where it's at.
also reptile awwwright :^)
Was nice hangin with a cup of coffee and hearing a simpler but deep reaction to amazing music. Loved it, keep em coming!
REPTILE! AWWWRIGHT! So pumped you enjoyed it!
Checked Juggernaut out because of this.
Super gay. Can't stand the vocals. I don't know how to even call it - 80s cheeeeeese vocals?

OMG! YOUR FINALLY DOING REPTILE! WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE!!!!!!
REPTILE AWWWRIGHT! Glad you got through this song and genuinely enjoyed it
I love reading your facial expression throughout this song, I can tell it hits you on multiple layers. This song is an epic that blows the minds that know and goes over the heads that dont.
REPTILE, AWWWRIGGHTTT
Love this song, love this band. So happy I got to see them live a few years ago. They played with Animals as Leaders and Dillinger Escape Plan, was an epic show.
I imagine Devin Townsend would have something similar to this. Hes got a huuuuge library of work.
Daily recommendation to check out Dillinger Escape Plan's song: Farewell, Mona Lisa ;)
In all the hundreds of bands I obsess over there are like 10 songs that give me chills in exactly the same spot each time. I think this song has 3 spots for mega chills. Nothing quite like it.
Ooh, what are they for you? I have several lol. Mine are: 4:10, 12:42, 25:06, Mark’s punch at 25:41, 26:10, 27:00-27:14, but my fave is from like 19:00-20:04 with the hit at 19:15, but the whole thing together is just incredible.
Or 2:09 on Weezer’s Buddy Holly
@@myklelara Definitely at that 19:15 mark and the one at 27!!! It's usually a soaring vocal part that gets me and especially if it's paired with an impactful lyric. One that always gets me is Protest the Hero - "She Who Mars the Skin of Gods" on the line "This shotgun will instead".. definitely the most emo part ever but it gets me! lol
Please, please, please react to ERRA-Dementia. It's another Epic piece like this. I've listened to it more times to count and it never gets old

I'm so glad I got to see them live before the pandemic. They opened with this song and it was amazing

It's interesting that you mentioned "theory". The guys in Periphery have commented several times that they do not know theory. They know chord shapes, voicings, and arrangements. They write what feels good and sounds epic.
Chord shapes, voicings, and arrangements are all music theory. It's similar to saying that you don't know grammar, you just know verbs and nouns.
nahh c'mon. Let's not do a scarecrow over music theory!
That's more Misha I remember hearing in an interview once he's not super fluent in theory.

So glad to see you reacted to this one, this song is a masterpiece in my opinion. It's awesome to see you so into it!
it would be really cool if you could check out "A Night On the Town" by The Dear Hunter, they're a progressive rock band that incorporate lots of orchestral elements into their music and that particular song showcases their versatility and great compositional skills. also it's a 9 minute track so it's a bit of a journey itself.
for sure, The Dear Hunter are worth checking out
I've thought about recommending TDH, seems like a perfect fit
bruh....youre an absolute hoot to watch! and I totally respect your opinion/background. your energy and willingness to dissect so many genres is much appreciated. I'm a recently turned 50 prof rocker myself. it's so funny to me that the older I get, the heavier and crunchie and more downtuned I get.
Geebz, its time to finally check out Racecar. A lot of fans (and even the band themselves) have differing thoughts about their first album, but the song is too good not to listen to. Fantastic vid as always!
Their first album is so complicated. I hear it differently every time I go back to it. The melodies in it are beautiful and complex.
The fact at the end you were expecting some end comment like "thanks for riding the journey, you are now exiting..." made me chuckle. You're getting that in "Satellites". :D
There actually isnt another song "like" Reptile.
You nailed it, there isnt

"I'm havin a blast" if you want this to continue, do Have a Blast! ;) featuring Guthrie Govan!
Also Scarlet, their catchiest song.
As interesting as these more elaborate compositions are, I find that the most memorable Periphery songs are the shorter catchier ones like Make Total Destroy and Marigold (and my 2 suggestions), and they are the ones I play again, unfortunately it's a short list.
I absolutely love seeing you geek out on parts that got me the first time through. During that first big tone change/break when the bass note slides down you made a face...I know what it was for. =P
