Truly a masterpiece of a song. And yes, they do play it live and they fucking nail it. Last time I saw them on tour they opened with Reptile. The BALLS to open with a song like that. Amazing.

Honestly Reptile is a pretty solid opener in my head at least, cool opening, and it's like 3 songs and an interlude in one. Imagine it was racecar hahaha that track is so sick but it's so uniform that would be just too much

It’s probably been mentioned already but the band has 3 guitarist, each with (to my ears) a very unique style when it comes to solos. One of them Jake Bowen happens to be John Petrucci of Dream Theaters nephew. Pretty cool

"Periphery have a song that's over 16 minutes long."
Man, just wait until you hear of "A Change of Seasons" (23:10), "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" (42:02) (this is technically considered one song, I swear), "Octavarium" (24:00), "In the Presence of Enemies - Part II" (13:38), "A Nightmare to Remember" (16:10) "The Count of Tuscany" (19:16), "Illumination Theory" (22:17), "A View from the Top of the World" (20:24), and the entirety of "Metropolis Pt. 2 - Scenes from a Memory" (77:06) (okay, this one is cheating, but it is all one continuous track if you aren't paying attention), all by Dream Theater, not including live versions of any given song which also exceed 16 minutes, and the countless songs by Dream Theater that exceed ten minutes. Welcome to Prog Metal! xD
Okay, I'm just kidding lol In all seriousness, Dream Theater's epics tend to be much more directionless than Periphery's. I've found myself not paying attention to a lot of Dream Theater's longer epics (in their defence, I listen to them at work, and I've just gotten into Dream Theater and have only just started listening through their albums), but even the newest Periphery epics tend to be fully captivating from start to end, even on the first listen; Reptile is my favourite of their epics, though. Another thing is that Dream Theater's epics are divided into movements that can sometimes feel disconnected, whereas Periphery's feel like one cohesive song. That's what I love about Periphery; they manage to make long and drawn out songs that don't _feel_ that way. They are masterful songwriters, and masterful musicians (though they won't ever admit to that lol)

I feel Tesseract vibe😌 But here the contrast between core and ambient parts, extreme and clean vocals is definitely higher and more interesting. Although I'm not a fan of such clean vocals. And I didn’t really listen to them, but they seemed to play something heavier and more monotonous, and as I understand it, they have a new vocalist and they are adapting to him.
upd. Sorry, I confused them with another band🙃
