If ppl can get past the Em vs Jay verse discussion of renegade they will realize it’s just an all time great collaboration.
100 both played their part in one of the best tracks of the decade...em bodied that shit but at this point it's business as usual, jay and em are my two fave artists of all time
Definitely but Em almost washed because he was so elite on that shit good lord!
@@MK-sk9zq Its funny cause Renegade is a JayZ song, is a top 20 Eminem song, but not a top 20 Jay Z song.
@@luismendes5868 and ?
@@MK-sk9zq Nothing. Just that is a remarkable moment on Eminem's career and not on Jay Z. Dont be defensive, I'm not saying that Jay Z makes better songs or anything
should definitely do jay’s “ american gangster “ album too. pops would definitely appreciate the production on that one for sure.
most definitely that’s so grown man music right there 🔥
Except Blue magic song
Facts classic album insane production
@@smitrj1916 you trippin. His flow is crazy on that track
THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN MAN
"It's like bringing a knife to a gun fight, pen to a test. Your chest in the line of fire with your thin ass vest" I used to jam that daily! Great album
People always say Reasonable Doubt is Jay-Z’s best album. But personally, The Blueprint is his Magnum Opus. Everything about it is HOV in his prime and top-form. Elite Production, 5 years in the game and his 6th album so better with experience, sharper pen. Takeover came out a few months before Ether. When Takeover dropped, at the time, people were saying Nas was finished because he weren’t released great music at the time and the Jay-Z diss kinda put him in a hole. However, Ether and Stillmatic released months later was the comeback and resurrected Nas’ career and respect levels across the Hip-Hop community.
Imo Reasonable Doubt isn't even his top 3.
I like reasonable doubt better personally. Less smooth but more of the lyrics are profound. During Blueprint 1 Jay is the master of the punchline smart enough to make you laugh, but not clever enough to need 3 listens.
I agree with everything that you just said but i would also throw the Dynasty Roc La Familia album in there as well that’s a very underrated project.
Nah you tripping with all due respect. 😂
Both classics - but RD and AG and 444 are lyrically superior albums.
It's crazy to me that Timbaland can come in and make a beat like Hola Hovito in the middle of all this soul sample competition between Ye and Just Blaze and it both fits the album and stands out so perfectly...
Timbaland is the man!
Jigga That Nigga was also outta place. Number 5 on the album. It worked though.
Amazing producer!! Like he said in the song “Give it to me”
When Timbo' is in the party everybody put up their hands
I get a half a mill' for my beats, you get a couple gra-a-and
Never gon' see the day that I ain't got the upper hand
I'm respected from Californ-I-A way down to Japan
I'm a real producer, and you just a piano man
Your songs don't top the charts, I heard 'em, I'm not a fa-a-an
Niggas talkin' greasy, I'm the one that gave them they chance
Somebody need to tell 'em that they can't do it like I can
Every time your dad said, "LAAAAMMEEE!" I was LMBO! 🤣🤣🤣
Laughing my bombaclart off?🤔
just wanted to say that you guys doing the black album was what got me into Hov, i’ve been listening to him like crazy and going thru his discog since you guys put that video out. the blueprint’s definitely one of my favorites, i just started the vid so i’m stoked to see what your dad thinks, love to you guys!
Ha that’s dope! Hope you enjoy
A couple suggestions:
Nas - It was written
Nas - Stillmatic
D12 - Devils Night
Obie Trice - Cheers
Xzibit - Restless
Xzibit - Man vs Machine
Conway the Machine - La Maquina
Conway the Machine - God Don’t make mistakes
Big pun - Capital Punishment
God Don’t Make Mistakes is a must. That album felt like a movie, especially the title track.
I say D12-Devils Night aswell
obie trice and xzibit are both very underrated
Gotta do Reasonable Doubt next. Look forward to watching this all the way from Ireland 🇮🇪
Gotta do reasonable doubt only right jay z first joint
Vol 2 is crazy too. So many hit records
Id personally love scarface the fix to get a review...hip hop classic
I guess Senior will luv the beats and production on Reasonable Doubt.
Vol.2 was the album the blew Hov up & really got him mainstream recognition because of that Hard Knock Life song with that Annie sample.
Your pops was enjoying "the takeover" LOL he was hype that whole track
You gotta do The Infamous by Mobb Deep next. Or maybe It Was Written by Nas.
“Iron under my coat feeling braver. Durags wrapping my waves up, pockets full of hope. Do not step to me, I’m awkward - I box lefty. An orphan - my pops left me. And often, my momma wasn’t home” 🔥🔥🔥💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
GOAT
“Could not stress to me i wasn’t grown but often i bring home something to quiet the stomach rumblings my demeanor 30yrs my senior my childhood didn’t mean much only raising green up” 🎤🐐
Yall should react to Nas - It was written. Underapreciated when it first came out but regarded as a classic in later years
Definitely gotta listen to Stillmatic after this!!😭
My fav Jay album. Love to you both 🙏
Dude i LOVE the details in the context you give before the reaction. I feel like I've learned so much from your explanations. Please dont stop those segments!
This is Jay Z's BEST album to me, but it's also my 2nd favorite album in the world. That's how great this album was to me. My favorite song from this CD is "Heart Of the City", there's alot of great tracks on here but also "Never Change" and "Renegade" are fire as well.
What is your fav album of all time.
I don't know, but jay z's blueprint album is great that I consider it my top 3 favorite albums, it's a classic and it's soulful
@@marquestb7925what are your other 2 favourite albums.
I would put In My Lifetime slightly above this (his flow was better on it) but it's very close.
Every time your dad disses Biggie, a part of me dies.
Great reaction. Blueprint was a great choice. Keep it up
I can’t wait until they react to Life After Death. It’s only right.
That will be the redemption I just know it
I said the same thing 😩
It makes it okay when someone older doesn't like biggie, when someone who's around 18 says it, it's jus like bruh u don even knooo
@@NomaticX nah makes zero sense especially if your older and like jay but not big how does that work?!?!?!? Jay quotes alot of biggies rhymes
In many ways, I feel Blueprint 1 and Stillmatic encapsulate the two careers better than any of their other albums.
Jay-Z is so smooth you don't mind him pretty much just stunting for half the album with no real message. Beats are fire, flows are lava. Punchlines are knockout.
Nas on the other hand shows some of the most insane creativity with Rewind, goes philosophical and political in the latter half, and with the depth of his penmanship (rule, every ghetto), you are almost willing to forgive Braveheart Party (or buy the version without it on).
Today, I listen more to Stillmatic as a whole album, but probably more to Heart of the City than any of the other songs
Great comment 💯
Good call
I’ve loved this record for what seems like forever and it’s super fun to see Rod Sr. react to it. Much love from 🇨🇦 Hov!
Gotta go through most of Jay’s catalog. Classics on top of classics! Excited to see pop’s reaction to this masterpiece 🔥🔥🔥
Probably my favorite album of all time next to the Black Album, Ready to Die, and 4:44. U Don't Know can get any crowd hyped. So many memories with this album as well as any other Jay-Z album. Great reaction.
I'm on track 2. And I know I've said it before but pops reactions always makes the videos for me. When he loves something I loved, seeing him acknowledge it... it's like seeing the "old head" we respected be like "ah yea, this is good" to shit I grew up loving. Love this channel, and hope yall doing well! Keep it coming, we here for it.
You gotta do that stillmatic now man for that ether🔥🔥🔥
And also has some of my favourite nas tracks like
Rewind
One Mic
And The Flyest
“Takeover” came out first Nas reply was “Ether”after that Jay came out with “superugly”. In the song “blueprint 2” Jay took a couple of shots at Nas but after that it was over
Blueprint 2 was such a sad moment for Jay-Z, he sounded like a little girl with a skinned knee crying on the track about how everyone thought Nas beat him
there was also "You Wanna Be Me" from the _8 Mile_ soundtrack. I'm not sure if its an official Jay-Z diss as Nas never mentions or alludes to Jay in the song. Its mostly a 'diss with no name on it' but its potent and it was released during the era of their fued.
All I know is Takeover getting at 2 different rappers dropped summer of 2001 and it took Nas 6 months to drop Ether in December 2001. Then literally 24 hours later Jay drops a freestyle (Super Ugly). That’s my only knock on Nas is that he can’t freestyle off the top of the head and he got one monotone flow. Other than that I got Nas top 4 all time.
And don’t forget…. The Legend Wendy Williams debuted “Ether” on her radio show”. She was huge in NY at the time. It started a radio war in NYC. Nobody mentions that.
Disagree thought disc 2 was immaculate especially the mop and scarface features
SO HAPPY YALL POSTED !
I will never forget getting this album the day it came out at a newbury comics. Shit was played til the disc could no longer be read properly lol
Reasonable Doubt time!!! Great video as always!!
You just gotta go back to the beginning. 💯
You gotta do stillmatic coz ether responds to takeover
Amazing video like always bro. Continue the phenomenal work.
I love how much fun your pops is having listening to this. I wish I can do this with my father but he sticks to his old school salsa lol
Thank you for this upload. 👊
it echoes my relationship with my father.
My dad was a local DJ in his teens he sired me at age 17. I grew up listening to his album collection and before I turned 14, I started my CD collection.
I went to the mall it was Winter 2001;
I bought 3 albums that day and jumped into my own Hip-Hop Journey.
Tyrese - 2000 Watts
Jay-Z - The Blueprint
Dungeon Family - Even In Darkness
I've been listening to The Blueprint for 21 years come this winter. Thanks for adding a new layer to this classic for me.
Jay's discography is so great!
Y’all have the best dynamic I love watching y’all vibing to this great music
Great Reaction Bro, Looking forward to the next one.
Classic's
It was written by NAS
Tha Carter 3 by Lil' Wayne
Me Against The World by 2PAC
The Massacre by 50 CENT
Doggystyle by Snoop Doggy Dogg
Oooooh!! One of favourite channels on RUclips. Great video reaction to a legendary album.
52:00 one of my favourite beats on the album
To me the autobiographical and introspection on Jay’s verses on renegade make me feel like his verses hold more weight but at the same time Eminem’s lyrical dissection and off the wall wordplay I totally understand anybody that says Em had the better verses but I wouldn’t change any part of the song it’s a masterpiece that fits together perfectly.
Facts
Just finished the video and I had to post this album on my Instagram. Amazing album and video.
Always a great time listening! Another request would be a Big Daddy Kane album!
I’m pumped to listen with y’all
You should get dad to react to DMX's discography. X was one of the most underrated rappers in the late 90's early 2000's.
Mid
@@dariusgarlandszn clown
Underrated??
@@kifflom0 He is definitely underrated. When people talk about their top 5 or top 10 he is rarely mentioned. He is personally in my top 3.
X was definitely not underrated in the late 90s
I think stillmatic is a must do after doing this album honestly, Thanks for the content!
Agreed ☝🏾
It was Written is much better.
they already did two months ago
Trumpet on "The Ruller is back" played in my mind.. (Produced by Rockafella's camp producer "Bink")
Bro how are people requesting The Black Album and The Blueprint before Reasonable Doubt? That's crazy as hell to me.
Blueprint is his number 1 album to me. RD is right under it
Idk, it could be a generational thing. I'm 17 and personally the black album is my favorite from his discography blueprint 1 and reasonable doubt are next to that tho.
He didn’t put reasonable doubt on the list to vote for otherwise people would’ve voted for it
@@HertoftheCity I didn't say what was being voted on I was saying based on what I see in the comments all the time. Cuz that's what he based the choices on.
Because The Blueprint is his greatest album
Your dad’s shoulder bounce at 24:30 is a vibe! 😎
After blueprint I think you gotta listen to stillmatic. It only feels right that you guys listen to Nas’s response to takeover.
Fn LOVE the 92 bricks banter. That part of the song has always popped me.
Another great reaction and great album hopefully get some mobb deep soon stay safe you 2 peace ✌🏼
Pops caught that Jackson 5 sample fast
I would love for yall to review Stillmatic, The Lost Tapes and The Low End Theory!
Now u gotta react to stillmatic coz there aint no takeover its ether 🤣
Another classic.. late to the party but checking it out now that I have gone. Let's go!
you guys keep on making me smile ❤️💪💪
You gotta do “Life and times of S.carter” one of jays most underrated albums..
My goodness! Vol 3 is better than almost all hiphop albums and it’s not even Jayz’s best
Gotta do Nas- "It was written" next
Ether was definitely after Takeover.. listen to the whole Stillmatic album.
Love “Ether” but “The Blueprint” is ions better than “Stillmatic”. I actually think the “The Blueprint” is a top 10 hip hop album of all time.
I like takeover just a better song
@@nathane9406 LIES> Stillmatic is a classic and has aged better.
@@activistbook3809 stop bro with all due respect blueprint has five solid single **five ** that are a big part of Jay-z catalog. Let that sink in. I know people don't like Jay but numbers don't lie
@@activistbook3809 “Stillmatic” is not a classic. I enjoy Nas as a rapper more than I do Jay but “The Blueprint” is a perfect album.
Takeover was actually before ether. I think you guys should react to the the whole stillmatic album instead of just ether cause that album is a slept on classic
Most people forget Jay-Z had just beat a assault charge for stabbing In Rivera Biggie's former manager and friend. It's why he mentions the DA throughout this album.
I always appreciate everyone who reacts to the music from the heart of the neighborhoods🖤🙌
Aye can’t wait to really watch this one once it’s posted
A lot of people missed the Amil dis. The entire "Beans, Clue, Bleak" bar, then he said "fu***** with me, you gotta drop a mill (Amil)", referencing him dropping her from the label.
If you gonna cop something you gotta cop for real (Pharrell)
This is a perfect album
I said it once and I will say it again, never change is going to be his favorite track on the album
although The Black Album is my fav for sure bc my brother used to just sit and vibe playing games together listening to it. The Blueprint has such a classic vibe it comes so close to The Black Album. Jay IS greatness
damn your channel be growing like crazy! at this point you'll hit 50k in no time
Great job again gentlemen 🙏🏻 please do watch the throne!
Gotta do carter 3 soon love y’all videos almost watched all of them 🙏🏼
u got to do stillmatic
God damn it, I love this album so much. Hope Pops like it!
Jay is the GOAT imo and this is my favorite album in his catalog. Kanye, Just Blaze, Bink!, etc did their thing on production.
Definitely not the goat
@@tcook2236 that’s why i said imo
@@4DaFam true my bad brotha I didn't see the abbreviation 😂✌️✊
One of his less lyrical albums is your favourite? Very few thoughtful or complex lyrics on this album tbh
@@jeromesimz6271 if I only cared about the lyrics I’d look for acapella versions lol i love the music on this album more than his others… music is subjective there’s no right or wrong reason to have a favorite
His best album (personally). What a gem. Glad you had a blast!
kanye be making crazy beats. Heart of the city is perfect
Tied with MBDTF as my favorite hip hop album ever. When an album has a hidden track (Lyrical Exercise) better than 90% of the songs on any other album, you know it's a classic
I’m always interested in everyone’s fav album mines is me against the world
@@mizzyfit_334 blackbolshevik or sometimes i might be introvert
I haven't listened to this whole video yet but this album has 2 hidden tracks.
After _Lyrical Exercise,_ its the _Girls, Girls, Girls (Remix)_ which was always a banger and an ironic way to end the album; the closing line of the album is a sample talking about not settling down until he found the right girl for him.
Whats ironic about that is at this point Jay-Z had just started being publicly associated with Beyonce as Destiny's Child had just made an appearance in the "Izzo" video.
Not even my favourite Jay album personally as I prefer reasonable doubt and the black album over it, but a classic for sure
@@slowflowsen498 Yeah both are hidden, and I love Girls Girls Girls part 2 but I have always always liked Lyrical Exercise more so that’s why I only mentioned that one. But that said, GGG 2 is also better than a lot of album cuts. Ye killed the beat too
Man y’all just seem so happy and the vibes are great to start the weekend! Killer content lately you’ve got sooooo many good albums ahead! Does he know J Cole?
Nope, but he will soon
Never was big into JayZ but Reasonable Doubt is a fire album.
Yes! Definitely his best album
Yup
@@zncuentertainment712 nah this his best album imo
@@yeeyeekaree1107 Blue Print is nice in terms of the beats. Lyrically it's weak except for like 3 songs.
Reasonable Doubt has great beats and great lyrics for every song.
@@jeromesimz6271 i don't think it's lyrically weak. Jay has always been braggadocious, and this is probably the best you've seen him do it. Reasonable Doubt is his best lyrically, but this album is his most well rounded to where everything sounds perfect. The Black Album is my second favorite.
My uncle bought me this album when I was 9. The only song I liked was Izzo since it was the only one I recognized from the radio lol. But now I love the entire album. Ya'll keep up the great work 💪🏾
Dope seeing you and your dad reacting to music. You fellas should check out Lost by Eightball. Great concept album.
the two main Jay+Nas songs (ie songs on either of their albums, not them being featured together on someone elses track) are Black Republican (on nas' hip hop is dead record, prod. LES) and Success (on jay's american gangster, prod. No ID).
This album put me on to lyrical rap as a pre teen. I bought this and Stillmatic after reading about the beef in The Source. Both albums were instant classic and got 5 Mics in the Source.
Damn the source. Lol. Those were the days rappers killed for mics. Lol
“Yeah you’re shining but the only thing you’re leavin out, you’re a candle in the Sun, that shit don’t even out.”
Sick format dude! Hov something else. Shout out to pops.
Pops wasn't ready for the hardness of the takeover hahahaha his YEAHHHHHHHHHHH (pops voice) is epic 😂

Turning the Tables, Bridging the Gap, Put You On.
Coincidence? I think not.
Somebody correct me if I’m wrong. But outside of his albums maybe, ‘Renegade’ was the first track produced by Eminem for another artist.
Probably but it was produced for himself actually
Most people don’t know about that version of Renegade with Eminem & Royce Da 5’9. 🤷🏻♂️
This album came out when I was in 5th grade! Soooo nostalgic listening to "The Blueprint" my favorite Jay-Z album 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Would love to see some outkast reactions! Stankonia might be the best intro, so much groove and diversity within that album and obviously the catchiest.
Finally someone reacting to Jay Z, huge respect ❤💪🏾
hooooo. Never change, the memories!!! the 2000s
I knew pops was gonna like the girls, girls, girls remix. This joint was one of Jay’s best songs ever
