Stat guns work because static charged panels draw dirt to it, where as after using a stat gun the panel repels dirt away from it. I was taught and what worked for me was every coat use the stat gun after final tack to remove static created from rubbing the panel, that made a massive difference for me
Back many years ago we would spray a mist of alcohol water mix to take the static away.. seemed to work. I know others that use the static guns and say they work

I have my doubts about those static guns, but if they work for some, I won't knock it. I know one thing that works is lightly sanding the base, then applying another coat, which I learned from you. That's made a big difference, and I will keep doing it. Thanks much! Keep teaching us, Brotha! 💪🏾

We use polonium 210 (radioactive) cartridge type static eliminator air guns. Those work well especially when new. The cartridge has to be replaced once a year. Do not drop 😂 or you might get sick if it cracks.
I just do full fan or fluid on my sata 1.4i definitely makes quick work. That’s what I started with? Not until more research did it learn that that gun is like a fire hose. 😂 trail by fire is what it felt like at first.

Ya man, been in the spray game for 18 years and I do helicopters solely . Windscreens are polycarbonate and tested it on it after cleaning them. Arm hairs would stand up when I put my arm close to surface, blew the surface off with the gun and hairs didn't stand up . Where you based in Florida?

Hey Trigger, came out pretty clean. I denib those little particles with eagle abrasives denibing kit. It works perfectly to remove those little nibbs easy. Don't do it for El Chipo tho lol. During the Black Friday deals I bought a Makita mini hand buffer. Looks like a drill but it ain't. Got it at half price on Amazon and added a kit of the cheapo sponge buffing pads and problem solved. I don't have to cut and buff the whole panel or hood. And with your glass looking finishes, it's out with no nibs. Keep up the great work bro.

I'll try to add that into the lineup, But you shouldn't have to walk the entire side on a pearl just be cautious when you stop not to hold down the trigger and stay in one spot. But I definitely try to get it into the lineup for you

Hey man, I’ve got a question that I can’t get a straight answer for. I’m spraying an Eastwood dtm epoxy primer and it says you can recoat within 4 or 5 days. I sprayed it and was going to go over with a 2k after an hour and a half but it’s still a little tacky so decided I’ll wait 24 hours. My question is do I need to clean the epoxy primed panels when I prime tomorrow or just tack rag it?? Thanks for reading this novel lol.

I think the gun helped. That's why I said in the video that I did not do my regular steps I take to get a clean job. I just walked in used the stat gun and painted. Normally I wipe with water, sand my base but I didn't do any of that. But I'll play with it more and see what happens.
It’s a hazardous job as it is. Turns out it’s also not good to breathe in ionized air. Idk allegedly those work by sending positive and negative ions out of the tip. I liked using static guns when they were available to me. I could definitely tell the difference. It’s been said to blow in one direction as you tack, so worst case scenario only one side of the panel gets the dirt. I appreciate your coverage of this.

I bout an air purifier for the house and it has a air ionizer on it, i turned the air ionizer on for two nights And the old lady was coughing up all kinds of shit I turn the ionizer off and everything was fine. That was some weird shit. So yeah you're right luckily we have on our respirators. That's crazy I never put those two together. Good looking out 👊🏼

On your final wipe down before painting clean youre panels with alcohol kills the static works great same with raw plastic parts
