She never deserved any of this. She cried whenever she heard her mother’s pod song and it breaks my heart. The dolphins do not get along with her and really beat her up. Sea World may do some good things but like other companies they also commit some real gross atrocities for money and I refuse to support them.
Miami Seaqarium is far, far from Sea World. Sea World treats their orcas incredibly well in much larger tanks.

her mother is still alive actually, L25 Ocean Sun, Lolita was the last calf she ever had and the only one still living.

It is not acceptable to keep these beautiful animals in captivity. She needs to be in a safe place for HER! Not used as a symbol. In the future we need to end all animal exhibits that act as cruel jails.

Does anyone have an update??? It's even worse to think for 4 weeks she's had no interaction with anyone unless feeding her. My heart breaks when I see that tank.... How can the owners ever think this was ever ok? 😭💔
Wouldn't be surprised if they would rather kill her than spend one cent on setting her free. The water she was in was disgusting.

I dont like that people cant come see her, that's an important part of enrichment for her. I just don't like the idea shes just hold away from everyone and being alone with only her trainers for company as the dolphin bullies her. @@MissMarshall my guess is technicalities. There is a new company, The Dolphin Company, who now owns Miami Seaquarium after buying it from Loro Parque. This new company seems open to releasing her, the only problem is a lingering infection might negatively impact her ability to travel 5000 miles, from one corner of the US to the other. I really wish she could come home right now, though. No more waiting.
The Miami Seaquarium should consult Ingrid Visser, regarding what is best for Lolita and her dolphin companion. To follow the recommendations of the expert marine biologist whose focus is orca, understanding them and what is the best life for orca, not human, is the best decision for these huge beautiful souls who deserve only the best.
She deserves to be free! We can do better and this is a stepping stone to free all captive orcas
She can be released back into the ocean after living all alone in a bathroom sink for 50 years?? That doesn't sound like the best thing to do for Lolita. Wouldn't that be enormously overwhelming for her? Poor girl.
I don't think they will release her to the wild. She doesn't know how to hunt or care for herself. They will most likely (hopefully) release her to a sanctuary
That’s what I think is going to happen too. That The Dolphin Company will move her to a sanctuary. Even Miami-Dade’s county commissioner agrees the tank too small for an orca. I also would not be surprised if Lii went with her to the sea pen.
The best they can do is a large sanctuary. Captive orcas bite the metal bars and concrete until their teeth break off and they need daily medicine and routine cleaning because their pulp/roots are exposed. She may have lost some hunting skills as well, and even if she reunited with her pod who knows if they would accept her back? Captive life is not kind to orcas. It is a death sentence.
Yea, they're going to put her on a stretcher, fly her to homeland & tip her out the side of the boat in the middle of the ocean. Then she'll be FREEEEEEEEEEEE!

She has been in captivity at the Miami Seaquarium in Florida since September 24, 1970. As of 2022, Lolita is the second oldest orca in captivity behind Corky at SeaWorld San Diego.

Her water looks so filthy! They say the dolphin bully's her?. Orca's kill dolphins easily why would she be kept with one and wouldn't be scared of her instead? If her mother is alive in the sea she would be able to survive if reunited as in a pod the hunter's provide and bring back food for all, the female matriarch would accept her and they would provide and teach her they never forget their own pod members and even take care of the sick and elderly pod members as they are family. It's a crying shame what man has done to these beautiful intelligent whales for entertainment and money!!! Orca's are now attacking fishing boat's they got their fill of the disrespect man keeps doing to them, in the wild they have never attacked a human swimming curious yes but never harmed, why they are destroying fishing boat's today? Nobody knows but their is a hole in some of their dorsal fins so it's thought that fishermen have harpooned or shot at them and now they are as attacking the boats rudder's and steering devices leaving the boat crippled in the water, good thing they not flat out sinking them as pods of 30 have attacked a boat and they could destroy the whole thing If they wanted to! It's time man leaves mother nature alone wild and free like God intended them to be!

Maybe since they stopped the orca show the Seaaquarium will loose money since people mainly go for the orca show…which will cause it to close completely and all the animals will be put in bigger, better places, like seaside sanctuary’s

yeah, i watched something that outlaid her return back. And the first step was to put her in a lagoon to get her back to the sights, sounds, and learn to fish. If it doesn't work out, she can at least live in the lagoon with people watching over her. So, she can't just be dumped back into the ocean. But the scientist from NZ laid out a plan that they had to return her slowly but surely.

They're currently discussing her rehabilitation plans about where her sea pen could be placed in her home waters.
I stopped going to any and all marine parks because of Lolita. I'm not a vegan, I'm not part of PETA, just a person with a soul. Miami should be ashamed. So should every city with one of these "parks."

Did anyone really think this through? Is it sad she was kept in captivity for that long,definitely. But do they not realize if they release her back in the wild that she doesn't stand a chance of surviving for very long. She's been so use to getting food served to her and taken care of by humans that she wouldn't really be able to fend for herself much as well how to hunt for food strongly. Also is there a chance for another pod of whales to accept her in the wild? Maybe and maybe not. As bad as this sounds,she's been so use to this treatment for so long being captive that I think it's best for her to stay in captivity for these reasons alone. They should retire her from performing shows but keep captive so she has a good chance of having a longer life.
