Cool. From the charter company's website, I found that the sailboat is a Bavaria 44. Orcas. My kinda whales. Beautiful creatures. Smart and apparently friendly (toward humans). I recently watched a video where a gentleman stated some classify orca into different "species" based on their pod's "culture" or the learned behaviors. It would be interesting to find out the difference in these orca compared to a group that isn't so influenced by the presence of humans. Do these orca or humpbacks become dependent on the fishing vessels?
These orcas and humpbacks just choose to go to the fishing vessels when they are there as that is an easier and less energy consuming way for them to get some of their food. When the fishing vessels are not there, the orcas and humpbacks hunt on their own. When the spawning period for the herring is over, the orcas and humpbacks leave the coast and totally hunt on their own.
