You forgot the third category of your fans - autistic people, just dying at your jokes being in perfect synergy with their weird existence (me being one of them). Thank you for the treasure of being yourself and sharing it with us!
on that topic (real question) i score high on all self assessments etc. but don't have an official diagnosis (expensive), however I do have ADHD diagnosis already - Fern seems completely normal to me. LMAO is this not the case for NTs?
@@videoaddicto Depending on the country you live in there are a lot of free institutes that can give an official diagnosis, talk to your primary caregiver about it. The following is for whats called "high functioning autists" these are autists that are diagnosed later in life and generally had a pretty normal life until there was a major change in their life that caused problems (mariage, breaking up, losing job, finishing school, having kids, immigration, or any life defining moment) For beeing classed as an autist, you need to score above a certain rating on the autism spectrum, not every autist has autism to the same degree, or problems in the same area's. Most autists also don't feel different then other people, like "normal people" they just have some area's where there good at, and some where there bad at. Whats helpfull for these people is learning what autism entails for them, and realize what kind of problems they can work on, and what kind of problems they won't be able to "fix". As an example, for me personally i have (amongst others) trouble participating in social events, due to the fact that i continuesly try to follow all conversations, as well as simultaneously try to read the bodylanguage of everyone present. I've learned that this behaviour is not something i can work on, however ive been given tools with how to deal with it. If i get an invitation to a social event, i plainly tell my situation to the one inviting me, and i tell them i will come, but depending how i feel that day and how buisy it is i might leave earlier then expected. This is not that i don't enjoy myself, but its because its very tireing for me. In your specific case, i would recommend getting tested, since its known that a combination of ADHD and Autism is both difficult to diagnose, either might be misclassified, and / or sometimes its better then that you have different medication for ADHD (if applicable) Regardless of those its beneficial to know what exactly is going on, wich might on the long run enrich your life, by either smoothing out any problems you have, or come to terms with things that are inevitable. As a last note, Autism is not a disease, its no shame of having it, and for most autists, it doesn't incur any devaluation of life. Most autists are perfectly happy. Its just that sometimes other people find it difficult to deal with us.
I saw this special on youtube months ago and was devastated to see it gone. Occasionally I'd go to youtube and search for Fern Brady to try and find this special, and today was one of those days and the day it was re-uploaded! Thank you!!!!!
Coming here from Taskmaster and loving every joke of the real Fern Brady. Brilliant on the show and even better here, plus such great jokes for bisexual and abortion rights. Here in the US in 2022 we need this commentary, besides your acerbic brilliant delivery. (And Greg’s head should be awarded for how brilliant you are.)
I worship at thr altar of Fern Brady. She is pure GENIUS. I need about four more hours of this show. And about 20 more comedy specials from her. Keep sayin that raw shit!!! The world needs you more than ever.
“Scottish middle class means you’ve been on a plane once and mom made you eat fruit regularly” I’m from Tennessee but I think I’m Scottish middle class! Man, I’d really love to know what eye shadow Fern’s wearing here. Love her! I have already seen this, and after I looked forward to the release from this channel and was slightly bummed when I realized it wasn’t new, I still ended up watching and enjoying and laughing all over again. Love her!
@@83reggieT yeah I’ve suspected that north equates to south over there as far as uppity/elitist/classist condescension goes. It also explains why even northern English (from my very limited understanding) folks are given shit about where they’re from. I wish the ribbing went across the board instead of just the people in the dirtiest city thinking they’re better than everyone else, which seems to be universal. (Yeah, NYC, you suck! I want my friends back, dammit!)

Well I wish I had the strength to hurt myself tonight, but until then thank you so much for uploading this special! Lots of love from me, my husband, and his pet snake ❤️ 😄
Just finished your book The last part, the one detailing how you’ve been dealing, resonated with my own journey May you be well, and thank you so much for putting so much out there!
TRANSCENDENTAL. She‘s a fucking genius. And so brave. Thank you. This is insanely funny. I can‘t describe how funny this is. I‘m so proud, super high quality. I NEVER heard jokes this funny and forward. RUclips is just genius. So it‘s true. Times really do change. I‘m so happy. And lucky to be seeing this generation breaking all of the molds. I could cry. I‘m so happy. I thought this would be a bleak Friday. How did I deserve this? Finally someone is saying what I‘m thinking. Thank you goddess. I wish I was that cool. I have things on my mind as well.
I literally just discovered Fern last week. I could listen to her read an instruction manual from IKEA - beautiful accent - but she's really funny with an understated, dry humor. I'll be looking for whenever she's anywhere near Indiana
Never heard of this comedian before - have a feeling I will hear a lot more of her in the future... she's great! A little self deprecating but still charming and funny.
I'm American, but I enjoy working out how to do different accents from time to time. After seeing Fern on Taskmaster, my cue phrase for a Scottish accent is legitimately, "In case you didn't know, I'm Fern Brady." The vowels are just fantastic. She's hilarious in her own right, but that little discovery has been the icing on the cake for me.
The idea her mom thought she was Seducing women for shitty jewelry as a teen is such a unique vibe. Just that her mom would assume that tells me everything I need to know about fern as a girl.
I have watched this multiple times and love it more every time. Brilliant! Can't believe I didn't find Fern until AFTER she was in Melbourne earlier this year.
I already knew I'm bisexual, but this show made me look up whether I might be autistic. According the NHS list of symptoms, and a surprising number of friends' testimonials: maybe
Another autistic person vouching for you is basically better than a diagnosis in autistic communities, lol. We tend to recognize and be drawn to others with similar operating systems. And the autism research is seriously biased and flawed because so much of it was created by allistics who find it difficult to empathize with autistic people.
Autism also comes on a spectrum, so maybe you hit a few markers, maybe you hit many! It's often also a degree to which it may cause hinderances in life. The more it gets in the way of things, the more seriously you need to look into it.
I couldn't love her more even if I tried 😂 This special has been the discovery of my year, a whole freaking 🎇highlight🎇 and we're 2 weeks away from ending 2023 🎆
Brilliant show. Being from Gibraltar, I've never heard of you before, but since your recent appearance on Taskmaster, I decided to check you out ..... and I'm glad I did. Gonna search for more of your comedy now, thanks.
Fern is absolutely one of the most hilarious comedians I’ve come across in a long time. For context, I’m pro-life and even the bit at the end didn’t put me off because views aside, she is amazing at what she does, she is an informal ambassador for the autistic community and she is a shining example of the fact that our dreams are not unattainable.
Just today I said "I know ya'll are going to laugh, but the BBC ::cue the laughter:: is a good source to use when researching for things because it's mostly moderate (in the US)." I only prefaced this with that because I said the letters "BBC" as a source last year, and half the class erupted in laughter.
I just watched this exact routine that she recorded during lockdown with no audience. It’s like a completely different show. Comedians and their audience is a dynamic feedback loop. We should never force comedians to perform without an audience. It’s cruelty.
