    Hey every one, it's been a while! Comcast made getting internet at my new place impossible but I FINALLY got internet and am returning to streaming/posting videos. If you could link this video around it would really help as I'm sure I've been pushed out of suggested videos after not being able to post for a few weeks. I'm also able to stream again! Great review! Totally agree that the BC2 singleplayer felt like a very meh CoD campaign. But that multiplayer is still some of the best in the franchise.
      (Sorry for the long venting comment)
      I had the exact same experience with Comcast! I moved & they said there was a block on the address for "fraud" & they kept bouncing me between departments. Some of them would say there is a block & I needed to send proof it was under new ownership. But then when they would transfer me to the department to do that, they would act like I was crazy saying that blocking an address was not even a thing that is done. Eventually, they just agreed to send a guy to check it out & he just said he had never heard of a house being blocked and had me up and connected in like 20 minutes.

    • @Jarekthegamingdragon
      @Jarekthegamingdragon  5 лет назад +1

      @@Toadink This is EXACTLY what happened to me. Someone would tell me it's blocked, someone else would tell me it wasn't, then I'd be told that I'll get a call with an update soon. Of course, I would never get that call and nothing would get done without me calling them. Eventually I got so pissed off that I told them I am not hanging up until they fix my problem and demanded money back due to how ridiculous the situation was.

      I know it sounds like a lot of hoops to jump through, but should something like that happen again, you could make a video, plug your phone into your pc, transfer the video to your phone, and then either go to someones place that has a connection, or like a coffee shop or whatever, and upload it that way. Or, if you you have a decent data plan, just do it with that. Even if you didn't want to go through all that, you could just film some little thing with your phone, and throw it up to stay in the recommended lists. I know you put a lot of work into your videos, and probably don't like the idea of posting a raw phone video, but I doubt anyone would complain, especially if you just explain the situation like you did here. I'm sure I can speak for most of your viewers in saying that we'd gladly put up with a phone upload to help you out while you get things sorted on your end. ^_^

      @CodeFruit04 ok, I did rushed to try and get a point across without much thought put into it, but since you replied so kindly I guess I should elaborate more.
      A battlefield game's campaign is something very hard to convey or even attempt to do. You either should try to emulate some semblance of a multiplayer battlefield or you can go the cinematic call of duty way. You see, we did had some good resemblance of multiplayer matches with bad company but dice ditched that away with BF3. Which has a rather mediocre campaign. Not bad. Just mediocre. Then 4 came and tried some bold implementations with map size, vehicles and what not, but still: BF's campaigns struggle to get the awesomeness of multiplayer into single player experiences. But, at least you had a cohesive storyline to follow through, some different locations and scenarios to implement some MP mechanics and there you go. Now, BF1 and BFV war stories? They have no continuity, they're nothing like the multiplayer and their production value is just... Not there. Take COD WWII set pieces and cinematic crap and compare to the aforementioned entries in BF series... They tried both and failed miserably on both accounts.
      They don't give you a single taste of what should a MP match feels like and they're very bad "mission generator" kinda of levels you'd get from a user in a far cry game. The developers used MP assets to put together single player campaign but there's not an inch of care or thought put into them. The cutscenes looks gorgeous but the missions themselves are laughably bad. Battlefield should have instant action options with bots just like battlefront does for single players or a good single player campaign like titanfall 2. Anything else is a bad implementation of really competent systems. I know I'm ranting, but 3 and 4 campaigns at least looked and felt cohesive while 1 and V is just an offense to anyone who bought the games and expected solid offline content.

      @@mrxlvcrft BF3 campaign its just a cod copy bullshit, the most linear AAA campaign, its offensive! Dont have anything of BF there, no vehicles, no destruction, no sandbox and no loadouts, just corridor sequences and a stupid AI, and the game was full of bugs.
      Not to mention the terrible "jet" mission, that only is a on rails torret mission, but worst, with nothing to see but the air, why the f4ck you arent the pilot!
      BF1 is just ok, nothing amazing like Bad Company 1, but not offensive like BF3, i dont give a shit if the story is bad or not, this is the less important, i care about the gameplay, and BF1 is the closer you can get of a multiplayer expirience.
      And yes, bots are much better than campaign, like in the first bfs, but dont do like BF2, that have only the 16 players maps and you need to mod the game to play that on the true maps, but even with 16 still better than the campaigns after Bad Company.

    Gonna leave a comment to support ya in the algorithm. I’m still kicking myself over missing Pt. 2 of the stream.
    For such a good story in BC1 (where the plot was more an action movie/comedy than a video game) it’s disappointing to see BC2 have such a toned-down, Call of Duty-esque Modern Warfare plot... that they never finished. It’s been almost a decade and there’s no sign of BC3 coming anytime soon.
    They even threw in an ‘invasion of the US’ thing at the end, despite the fact that such a plot point was mocked in CoD as being nonsensical. (There’s a million reasons why an invasion through Alaska will never work, let alone an invasion and annexation of Canada plus a huge part of the US itself- but that’s a discussion for another time.)
    There was also some padding that could’ve been avoided. Like you mentioned the vehicle segments are drawn-out and could’ve been skipped with no detriment to the story. Remember that puzzle with the shipping containers in the desert? Remember how you stumbled around not sure of where to go for a good 6 minutes before resorting to a walkthrough? That surely wasn’t necessary and was obviously there just to waste time.
    However - the character designs are great, the settings are superb and the sounds are exquisite.
    The Russian Medic is still the most handsomest character in gaming

  • @DreBourbeau
    @DreBourbeau 4 года назад +5

    The first two thirds of the campaign are pretty good, with some interesting mechanics and setpieces. The last third is so, so bad - totally rushed, a brutal "cinematic" climax, and some of the lamest corridor level design I've ever seen.

    Bad Company 2 was the last BF where you could truly destroy everything. I have no idea why, but in each subsequent BF game they turned down the destruction to what were currently at. Pretty sure "blow it up, then blow it up again" was in one of the commercials for this game, and it stuck true to that motto. For whatever reason, I also found the sound design vastly better in BC2 compared to the titles that followed, but that's a matter of personal taste. I hope in the next BF game true, total destruction makes a return and hopefully the same brilliant map design and gameplay will too. I miss being able to level entire buildings, blowing huge craters and ditches in the ground by planting C4 and mines together, and the weapons felt so satisfying to use!

    Bad co one is still one of my favorite shooter campaigns, I wouldn't say bad co 2 is very cod-like but it definitely made inches twords there despite having major elements of the first game that I loved

    The plot might be worse than the first "Bad Company". But it still has more soul and personality than any "Call of Duty".

    The only fps game where you want the enemies to be somewhat bullet spongey is Call of Duty Zombies for more points. I'll have to try this game

    Too bad about the internet problems, that shit sucks.
    I do have a game suggestion that you might find interesting: Marathon.
    Specifically the "Aleph One" version as that's the best way to play it nowadays. Also its free. alephone.lhowon.org/
    If you don't know about Marathon it was Bungie's second FPS (Pathways into Darkness was kinda their first), and clear influence for what became Halo. There's a lot of cool stuff for how old of a game it is (1994). Weapon reloading, interesting lighting, friendly NPC's, dual weilding, MOUSELOOK. Not to mention the story is not half bad for the time. I don't know if I'd suggest trying to beat it without a walkthrough as the maps can be a bit maze-like. As well, since you are trying to catch up on subs/views it might be a bit too obscure to drive traffic. Either way, I think it might be fun to check it out. Also the community made a bunch fan campaigns in the same engine after Bungie open-sourced it and gave us the original Forge and Anvil. Also did I mention its free?

    Obligatory comment, woo! Love your content and your perspective on FPSes (even the obscure ones I haven't heard of before). In a world without TB, you're probably the only youtuber still commenting on the importance of FOV, so you're definitely doing the Lord's work there.

    Even if BFBC2's singleplayer story was weak and unconnected compared to 1's, and most of the personality of the characters relegated to idling in-game before someone breaks the ice, I'd still replay it unlike the games that followed it. Thanks to the Dawnbreaker crash making me replay BF4's singleplayer over and over, I haven't touched another BF campaign.

  • @vahlok1426
    @vahlok1426 5 лет назад

    The lack of personalities killed the single player for me. What I find baffling, perhaps even misleading, is that if you go back and watch the commercials for BC2 they're all these hilarious bits. Like Sweetwater finding Solid Snake in a barrel, Haggard and Sweetwater completely botching a breach & clear, and the list goes on. I remember being super excited for another fun and ridiculous romp through the single player, instead I got a generic Call of Duty plot in Battlefield.

  • @lore7361

    Thinking about it did you ever tell Comcast and that you rely on the internet for your job? If you did and they still jerked you around like that you could actually sue them in small claims court for lost wages due. Actually did the same thing at one point with AT&T shortly after they started offering internet. got it installed and it worked for 1 day out of the 13 i had it. My job at the time was running a computer repair/upgrade service. I explained to them multiple times I couldnt do my job and they would send out a tech yada yada... After I called on the 13th day the store manager actually told me he didnt care if I was losing money it isnt his problem. Called an atorney and a few months later got a check and im blacklisted from AT&T because i sued them and won.

    I've been fortunate... I haven't had any issues with my internet in about 6 years.
    Except 6 years ago Century Link tried charging me 4000$ for years of unpaid LAN bills for a phone I never had... It took a fuckton of time and days of effort to get them to, you know, not try to charge me 4k despite it being on their end assigning out household a LAN line that didn't exist, and waiting years until the bill was 1000's of dollars before it never being paid for was even brought up.
    To their credit they did eventually drop it, and have in the years since sent 2 people to our house to ask how happy we are with out service. XD Still, all ISP's are gross.

    Thousands upon thousands?? Nobody has that many hours. A couple Hundred, maybe. I've spent 250 hours in siege a d I'm quite good at the game for example. It doesnt take thousands of hours.

    • @Jarekthegamingdragon
      @Jarekthegamingdragon  5 лет назад

      Yes, yes it does take that many hours to be a top player at a game. I have roughly 5000 hours in R6 vegas, 4565 in Fear combat, 1658 in rivals of aether. Being a top player requires the same thing as being good at any thing else, experience and dedication. 250 is almost no time at all for a video game and I can guarantee you you are not as good as you think you are. Definitely not qualified to give a full run down of the meta of each character, how to play them, and how to counter them. I'm not talking basic theory crafting. I'm talking real experience against great players.

    I heard so much bad things over the years related to the monopoly of ISPs in USA. I kind of feel privileged here in Canada to have two big ISP networks (and more depending your location) that are forced to sell their bandwidth to third party ISPs.
    Too bad your FCC which is controlled more or less by the industry it is supposed to supervise.

I knew I never found a Submachine Gun in this game outside the first mission but just thought it was weird luck that I always got an Assault Rifle when looking for an automatic weapon instead.
