If I can share my opinion. I think a large reason why the sweet spot mechanic was implemented had to do with prevalence of bolt actions during the time period, this was a way to make them slightly more approachable for the average player, and to give a more close quarters and snappy option against all the automatic weapons. Just my two cents, great video!
Absolutely, also because it would have been so much harder to balance the rifles without making nearly straight upgrades and downgrades. Sweet spots were a way to distinguish and balance the sheer amount of bolt actions considering they all have similar clip sizes and recoil basically doesn’t matter for that class of weapon.
IMO the sweet spot mehcanic was added to nerf snipers because people always complain about them. They followed the same trajectory in BFV where there are no one shot kill snipers.
People keep making Bf1 videos and I keep watching them. Absolute top tier game. Unironically looks and plays better than nearly any game that proceeds it. God, take me back

Fun fact: the m1903 experimental did not originally release with the switch fire mode to the bolt action. For the first 2 years of the game it could only be used as the pistol carbine variant
Well… I honestly don’t switch too often, but it still sounds like something you would want to have from the start, that wide hip fire and those messy sights do hold the weapon back when standalone, even if just a bit. But more even without the Pedersen Device, an iron sights version of the M1903 was deserved.
@@professormemsclassFor those first 2 years my stopgap was just to use K bullets. Less than ideal, but I got pretty good at lobbing single headshots pretty far with irons.

So glad this is finally out! Been waiting to see what you had to say about my most played class, and very happy to see you got a lot of footage from the CCC server. I will admit, i was watching the killfeed like a hawk to see if my name popped up but I figured it wouldnt because I only play late at night now. Enough rambling though, pretty much dead on agree with this video, lol. 90% of the rifles play the same, but gimicks really stand out as a result. I love the Vetterli carbine as a clunky close range menace!
Before i even finish the video; the gewhr m.95 is soo freaking good. I love iron sight sniping , it shoots fast asf, does a little ding when you have 1 bullet left and idk why but the assist counts as kill tiggers so much more with this gun
I only play infantry rifles, my favorite is the M95. The lack of a scope glint is great for counter sniping and the follow-up shots usually do enough damage to kill anyone in a swath of already damaged enemies
True, the fact that minimum damage is literally 1 point lower than the minimum of standard rifles means this gun loses nothing for damage besides the sweet spot, and gains so much to show for it.

I also have a Carcano Moschetto M91/42, basically the ww2 updated m91 Moschetto we have in bf1. Beautiful rifles. The M95 has a sniper version you can find in the gallipoli campaign. I also have a Tula M91/30 Mosin dated 1942..shouldn’t exist based on the date due to the German advance. I hold my Mosin by the bolt all the time lol
Fucking awesome! I just checked in searching for the last class weapon tier list video and you delivered! Thank you for putting the M1903 in S tier, I main the Experimental on Scout. It is so fun to be in the heat of the battle with the other classes.
Heyyyy he's back!!! (Jokingly) upset at the ranking of the Lebel. I have so much trouble differentiating between the bolt action rifles, since I'm one of the plebs that uses infantry variants because I have a real love for old bolt action infantry rifles. It just has that bark, and the reloads are gorgeous. It's such an interesting rifle to use and to look at. That and the Vetterli, which I also find to be drop dead gorgeous
I can see people's distaste for the sweet spot mechanic, but considering how this game is set in the one war where 99% of soldiers had bolt-action rifles with good ol' iron sights, I can see why they added the mechanic. What DICE should have done was keep the sweet-spot restricted solely to variants with low-powered optics or iron-sights, so it encourages more infantrymen with rifles. You can distinguish the snipers through handling like with bolt speed and bullet travel time
I love bf1 so much turn of the century guns and ww1 are special interests of mine and running around with all these single loaders is so much fun. Despite them all feeling pretty samey I think the distinct look of each of the rifles and carbines makes them feel at least a little different. I dont have a problem with most of the sights (im a bad shot anyways lol) i think they look cool and interesting; that is really why i love this game because despite the fact that the game is jank as hell and has balance issues all of the weapons and equipment and how you use them are all just so cool and interesting. thank you for teaching me new things about prob my fav class in the game and i look forward to exploring the rest of your series
I am truly blessed to get here early. Been absolutely LOVING your lists! Think we'll get a Battlefield Hardline version in the future or more lists pertaining to BF1 and 5? Huge fan of Hardline and I'd love to see your inputs on the weapons!
Fun fact: The Martini-Henry Sniper variant was added later in the game's lifecycle specifically because DICE got tired of people saying BF1 had no bullet drop so they gave Martini a scope for you to see the insane drop on it.
subscribed within the last week just waiting for this video. Hell, I installed my copy of BF1 for the first time to play the game after the last video!
I’m still gonna use the Mosin. Even if it’s the exact damn same (seriously what the fuck) I’ve gotten too many kills with irons. And I hard focused on getting it. I will also note, even though I’ve only had the game about a week (technically owned it for longer just uninstalled), I got the Peacekeeper. It’s honestly not even that hard, just tedious as you have to flip between programs. The first phase is hardest because of the long Morse code lines, but becomes easy when you use a map with low background noise so you can just record the audio and shove it through a Morse code site. One of the translator ones have a program that can translate off of audio, and it made that part easy as pie.
No mention of the incredible firing sound of my beloved martini henry is downright criminal! I get that the sweetspot mechanic is kind of cheap but good lord is it satisfying combined with the boom of the gun
Might be a tad late, was actually watching this video so I could balance my own BF1-inspired mods for another video game, but I personally like the sweet spot mechanic. It makes sense to differentiate guns even by a bit more, especially because as you mentioned a ton of them are so similar to each other. Though as you said, it does trivialize certain engagements or encourage camping at your specific range. Kind of a tough situation all around for weapon design.
If you use a high fov view model or have good eyes the clip actually falls out of the bottom of the Carcano. With the correct sound. The bugged clip you mentioned, has been there off and on, it usually does show the correct amount of rounds.
Good assessment! I don't personally play scout very often in BF1, and treated the vague concept I had of whatever a "sweet spot" was like a total slot machine, which I always cheered on when it happened to work out! On the note of my personal picks for the class, I'm sort of all over the place, I can't really pick a specific weapon to get comfortable with, but I do like the SMLE, mostly for it's sight picture, not that it's anything special, it just kind of clicks with me. Also, I'd like to compliment your articulate scriptwriting, it always comes off like you know what you're talking about, even if you're just speaking your mind, and I applaud it. I'm excited for the rest of this series to come out, and I would like to passingly ask, what are your thoughts on BF4? As much as you've mentioned steering away from these weapon review videos (which the writing and editing have gracefully carried over with your videos on dynamic reloads and round feeding if that's where your content intends to steer), I'd like to hear what you think of that game, if you've been behind its wheel, of course.
Well, to be honest I haven’t really played much BF4 at all, I have almost no experience in it compared to BF1 and BFV. I would have to be far more familiar with that game (and actually play it) to consider making such a series. I know it’s probably a little disappointing, but I wouldn’t feel qualified and personably am not as invested.
Fun tech you can do with the 1903 experimental is pressing the swtich fire mode button to start the animation, then swap to your secondary, then back to the 1903 to skip the 8 year long animation.
I have been patiently waiting for this drop. Great vids, man. Before I watch it through, you better have the Martini-Henry in S, maybe A tier Edit: My hero ❤
I genuinely enjoy the challenges and the outright brute force of the Martini Henry, it is my favorite fun to play BF1 with regardless of it being the best or most practical etc.
I've been playing bf5 (I know that this isnt the game in the video above) for about a year now and have been sniping the whole time. I watched your bf5 recon tier list again and noticed your ranking of the k31/43, a summer update gun that was somewhat broken at the time that you made that video. I urge you now to go back and play bf5 if just for the memories alone. I would also like you to know that you have been my inspiration for sniping and my Idol for a long time now.
I'm really glad to hear that I've been able to inspire you. I assure you that I have not stopped playing BFV, I've just been riding out this series to completion, I still have honestly more fun playing that game. From what I've heard from some handy commenters, the K31/43 high powered optics is only broken when you have quick aim as your Tier 1 specialization, and that if you instead get flashless propellant, the 6x aim is fine. It's also the case that the K31/43 has a ridiculously low drag coefficient, even lower than the Kar98k or Krag-Jorgensen with low drag rounds, which is a super odd choice considering it has a lower muzzle velocity. Had I known these things, I might have bumped the rifle up a bit.
Great list. This game depicts some of my favourite firearms from my favourite period of firearms history and many of the bolters are among them. The mosin (infantry specifically) is one of my favourite guns to use not in spite of it's plainess but perhaps because of it; it feels very versatile to me. For such a janky trash rod of a rifle IRL, the thing has swagger in bf1. The Lebel is also high on that list of guns for me; between it's booming firing sound and it's characteristic reloads it's a very *rifle* feeling rifle, a vestige of the sort of long-guns that were starting to disappear by WW1, and of the ones that were still around which were not featured in the game for lack of distinction. I just wish they had added a Werndl as a crappier version of the Martini-Henri...
I’ve been waiting for this 😎 Nothing beats the godslap of the Martini Henry, but I’m a sucker for the scoped Arasaka. The 1903 experimental with the versatility of being able to swap between shitty carbine and shitty bolt action is so much fun even if it’s completely a meme choice

IMO the sweet spot mehcanic was added to nerf snipers because people always complain about them. They followed the same trajectory in BFV where there are no one shot kill snipers.
Clear, comprehensive and informative guide, great work!
Thanks, glad you liked it!
People keep making Bf1 videos and I keep watching them. Absolute top tier game. Unironically looks and plays better than nearly any game that proceeds it. God, take me back
Ive been sick the last week, and just last night i discovered these tier lists weapon videos. A well needed distraction from all my stomach pain last night, watched the support class one last and was amazed by how quick your channel had grown. Absolutely well deserved! And thanks 🙏
I got a gaming laptop recently and all Ive been doing is playing BF1 and rewatching all your videos over and over, I dont even own BFV but your videos make me want to buy it just so I can become an anti armor maniac.
Gals you’re liking BF1 and my videos, BFV is definitely the most vindicating are for anti-armor at least between BF1, BFV, and BF2042
@@Mildcat743 Ah that’ll do it
Its infantry variant was available exclusively to the “back to basics” game mode which allowed only bolt action rifles for each class. I used to hop on in hopes of being on the US side to use the Springfield
Yeah I was shocked to see that in the video and then went back to the game to check it out.
Awesome was waiting for this one! Just reinstalled BF1 and looked at the previous lists for fun
great video. The saddest part is that it is the conclusion to the series. I hope you have some more BF1 stuff planned, but understand if not.
Your music choice in each video is pretty nice, I like it.
Thanks!
Based M1903 Experimental enjoyer, it's like a more extreme General Liu
Ah, unexpected comparison, but a good one.
Quickly becoming my favourite battlefield youtuber. Hoping for a battlefield 1 gadgets and grenades tierlist soon
Glad to hear you’re enjoying the channel!
ive been waiting for this for ages and you sure as hell did not disapoint!
Your content is terrific well done good sir
Thank you!
@@professormemsclass Do you think you would ever revisit the modern era battlefield games not modern era in 2042 I mean games set in the modern era eg battlefield 3/4 and do similar ranking videos?
Well, to be honest I haven’t even barely played those games. I came into Battlefield a lot later than most of the community, so as for previous games, I have only played BC2 campaign, BF4 campaign, and a little bit of BF4 multiplayer. Simply put, I don’t have the same passion for those games, and I know so little about actually handling the weapons that I wouldn’t feel qualified.
@@professormemsclass you have a valid point professor wish the best of luck with your content further thank you for taking the time to reply to my comment and take in my suggestion
Love these kinda videos man. Keep it up.
Thanks!
Vibes are impeccable as always. Outro music is especially slick.
Thanks!
The editing and commentary are great. I can’t wait for new videos outside of the tier list format :) I remember seeing your animation analysis video first and it was great too
Thanks! I plan to make more stuff like that in the future, but still do some BF gameplay stuff from time-to-time.
The hooded front sight on the M1903 IS SO BEAUTIFUL AND I LOVE IT
Before i even finish the video; the gewhr m.95 is soo freaking good. I love iron sight sniping , it shoots fast asf, does a little ding when you have 1 bullet left and idk why but the assist counts as kill tiggers so much more with this gun
Amazing video as always!
Thank you
Thank you for ranking my Vetterli-Vitali and Carcano reasonably high. I will always love them.
My pleasure
U can skip switching fire mode animation on m1903 experimental by switching to your side arm and switching back , instent switching literally
Great vid keep up the good work bro
Thank you!
thanks mem, you know i waited for this!
Hope it was good!
I only play infantry rifles, my favorite is the M95. The lack of a scope glint is great for counter sniping and the follow-up shots usually do enough damage to kill anyone in a swath of already damaged enemies
True, the fact that minimum damage is literally 1 point lower than the minimum of standard rifles means this gun loses nothing for damage besides the sweet spot, and gains so much to show for it.
you have uploaded again!
yay :D
and once again with some of the best music I've heard
martini henry and peacekeeper, one of my favorite loadouts to run
long range "fuck you personally"
and short range room clearer
Love seeing bf1 content in current year
As A Lvl 150 Scout Main, I’ve Been Waiting For This Video
Hope it lived up to your expectations
You got me back into BF1 brother, only just started watching ur vids yesterday so thanks a lot. I will be expecting a melee weapons tier list on coolness/dopesauceness.....
Loved the stardew valley music at the end. Good touch
Thanks, good job spotting it
Always makes me smile seeing one of these videos pop up on my front page.
And when we needed him the most, he came.
O_o indeed
LETSSSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NEW UPLOAD
Guess who decided to show up again. Good thing you brought the good stuff. Imma watch this while eating nachos. 🙏
Love ya content man, I watched your first VFV tier list years ago and loved it, But I didn't sub at the time, a month ago I finally rediscovered your channel and absolutely loved your backlog of content, I didn't make the same mistake and made sure to subscribe this time. Keep up the great work and I wish the best for you!
Glad to have you, thank you very much!
AAYYYY Nice to see the video up! Its been a blast supporting you on Patreon! I'm so happy to see whats come of it! but what haven't I said already about it, A fantastic end to a great series! 5"I'm F**cking INVINCIBLES! out of 5!
Hell yeah. I’ve been waiting for this all month.
Haha yeah sorry for the long wait
@@professormemsclassNah dude take your time. More time means better quality.
every single statistic MELTING INTO NOTHINGNESS the moment I see carcano animations and hear arisaka cycling sound
Valid
At long last. Also the weapon class I actually own a few examples of. Two M95s that saw action in both world wars. One dated 1916 and the other dated 1914.
: )
Always love to see such a positive comment
Your videos are the greatest. Why r u so great 😀😀
Thanks!
I am truly blessed to get here early. Been absolutely LOVING your lists!
Think we'll get a Battlefield Hardline version in the future or more lists pertaining to BF1 and 5? Huge fan of Hardline and I'd love to see your inputs on the weapons!
I’ve never played Hardline, so I wouldn’t really be qualified or passionate about it in the same way sadly… Glad you’re liking the vids though!
Omg, he's back with another banger
Love your videos. Great content.
Thanks!
Fun fact: The Martini-Henry Sniper variant was added later in the game's lifecycle specifically because DICE got tired of people saying BF1 had no bullet drop so they gave Martini a scope for you to see the insane drop on it.
Hilarious
***Hnng*** Col. He's uploaded again. This pleases me.
watching your gameplay as scout with all the carbines and infantry variants getting in way over their head in cqc gets me real excited
New tier list just dropped, I must now subsequently drop everything and watch this
subscribed within the last week just waiting for this video. Hell, I installed my copy of BF1 for the first time to play the game after the last video!
Ah very nice!
Ah nicely done! Also no shame in using the Mosin, it’s a perfectly usable rifle.
This channel is peak, looking forward towards your gadget video
my beloved... you uploaded again...
oh frabjous day...!!
The Ross rifle is probably my personal favorite. Feels smooth as butter.
thats why initialy couldnt find scout list on your channel thanks for update
Haha yeah sorry for the wait
Fantastic video 👍
Thanks!
Was waiting for this one!
If you use a high fov view model or have good eyes the clip actually falls out of the bottom of the Carcano. With the correct sound. The bugged clip you mentioned, has been there off and on, it usually does show the correct amount of rounds.
Don’t even play this game but the bully music in the beginning sold me on it
Great content, i thought you would have branched out to other games by now (no pressure, do what you enjoy), but yeah, keep it up ❤
Good assessment!
THE GOAT RETURNS 🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥
Fun tech you can do with the 1903 experimental is pressing the swtich fire mode button to start the animation, then swap to your secondary, then back to the 1903 to skip the 8 year long animation.
10:33 it really does feel like a random crit whenever that happens.
Good comparison
yoooo new professor mem video
Speaking from experience, the Vetterli is a BEAST on the Tsarystsine map (not sure if written correctly) since it’s mostly close range !
Been waiting for this 😈😈
31:06 I used to specifically run this gun because I thought it's high cyclic rate would make my ability to output k Bullets would be faster
I have been patiently waiting for this drop. Great vids, man.
Before I watch it through, you better have the Martini-Henry in S, maybe A tier
Edit: My hero ❤
Hope the wait wasn’t too excruciating :P
Long have we waited
The m95 has always been my favorite gun, something about it is just so crisp! Been at the top of my kill charts since 2016!
Now THAT would be funny
I’ve been waiting for this 😎 Nothing beats the godslap of the Martini Henry, but I’m a sucker for the scoped Arasaka. The 1903 experimental with the versatility of being able to swap between shitty carbine and shitty bolt action is so much fun even if it’s completely a meme choice
