"People are always afraid they'll mess it up. You’re not going to mess it up, if it's not done yet." - Thank you Lisa-from-Lachri-Fine-Art, you just released me of my fear of messing it up. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
That is an incredibly cute dog And what an awesome thing to do, voicing over some of your older videos instead of taking the week off. Incredible dedication!
Love the commentary. This was your first video I watched and have been watching since. I love your assistant, extremely cute and deserves all the treats!
And yes the little helper at the end of the video is amazingly cute and I think she/he deserves a whole box of treats ( distributed at healthy rate) lol I really think she/he should have an opening part to the video lolol Love the dog xoxo
Very inspiring, I really enjoyed watching. I never really knew that painting oils over acrylics was possible before I saw your videos. Now I really want to try it. (and cute dog) :)
Nice video! It was good to see how you use acrylics and oil together. I also like how you made the background. Acrylics dry so fast, I will give it a try for the wet on wet technique. I only have a spray bottle at home though. :)
LOL they're small cookies, and she has the metabolism of a hummingbird. Combine that with non-stop bouncing around and she will burn off anything I feed her lol.
hi Lisa , love your owl and you did say you were working with acrylics but l must have missed some , l heard you say oils in the end of the video , and as the tab won't drop down for me to see what you used , but l love it .
Julie Noel no I dont think so. I thought she only added oils to the background when she went and fixed it up towards the end.....and around the edges of the bird to soften the edges against the background.
Hi Lisa, I have a question. I have seen you use stencils for different things like a background or the sky, and I noticed you use the airbrush to paint. I remember you saying you recommend the basic airbrush to spray the canvas with water. However, I was wondering if I could also use that airbrush to paint with the stencils since I do not need a certain size to spray. Thanks in advance and look forward to every week for your videos.
hey there im wanting to expand my skills into acrylic painting now i would like to know what begginer videos or easy projects there are if any and what this video would be rated on it hardness as id like to do this kind of stuff :)
Hello Lisa. :) I have a question about whether or not you should mix acrylic paint (water based) and oil paint, because of the different base. I've heard that it's not something you should do. Thanks!
Ergo Proxy I know this is six months later, but I thought I'd toss this out there... Oil and Acrylic can be used together if you keep one rule in mind... anything oil based should ALWAYS be laid down after you are done with the water-based (like acrylic). I always think of water and vegetable oil in a jar... oil rises to the top, water below
So, oil goes over the Liquitex Acrylics without problem? I had oil reject adherence to cheap acrylic paints sadly... live and learn. Do oils go over the Golden Fluid Acrylics without a problem?
How do you transfer a detailed animal drawings to pastel mat? Saral does not work. I haven't been successful with the indentation method with a stylus. In the past I have used graphite on the back of a tracing paper drawing.
She did it in one of her recent livestreams. What she does is that she signs her name with a charcoal pencil, and paints her signature on top. She then erases the charcoal underneath. I hope that helped XD
I'd love to know the colors you use in acrylics & then in oils. Also can you share your brushes? (Size & style or maker) pretty nosey sorry.! Just wondering what your detail brushes are when your doing eyes & feathers. Are they the same as the ones you use for fur! I love this painting! I really love paint in oils but haven't tried them with the acrylics under tho, but I willow. (Someday!?) Thanks for sharing your wonderful talents! Oh, and that's the cutest assistant I've ever seen!! As far as assistants go she's a beauty!!👍🏻🏆 sure hope that she is a she!! Hope her name isn't Igor?!!
HIYA JUST WONDERED IF I CAN GET THE SAME SOFT LOOK IN THE BACKGROUNDS WITH ACRYLICS WITHOUT USING OILS. OILS ARE TOOOOO MESSY AND TIME CONSUMING FOR ME!!! BOB
Ugh this painting is ridiculous.....in a good way. I don't even think I would know how to recognize what I am seeing to know how to paint it. Like what colors are what and what shapes I'm seeing if it blends into the next shape's color. Ugh. Can you teach us to see or recognise what we see or interpret what we see? lol. I know that might not make sense but it probably does to a lot of us who struggle with it lol.
With this technique, is it really necessary for you to use the airbrush? I'm fine with everything but the airbrush--too chicken to buy/try it. Surely, you could have accomplished this painting just as easily without the airbrush, right??
Great painting & tutorial :) and Studio Assistant, youre always super cute but I will comment so you get more treats! ;) lol even tho Im pretty sure you would get spoilt without the comments ;) Have some extra cuddles from me too! :D

Awesome video and thank you so much for all the information on how to get your tutorials, and be a member of Patreon,
Your process is nearly identical to mine with the exception of air brush work. Great video. In essence you are building layers.
You’re absolutely phenomenal.

Oils over acrylic
the Background are acrylics and the owl is in oil
Julie Noel no I dont think so. I thought she only added oils to the background when she went and fixed it up towards the end.....and around the edges of the bird to soften the edges against the background.
+brikhouse22 uhh my bad! i just realized She says thats she mixed the paint with water (at the owl part) ergo using acrylic
Breathtaking..i just attempted an owl recently .mine looks like an "Angry Bird"...lol...i need to keep practicing..lol

How long have you worked at this picture a few days or ?? Oil paints dry not so fast?
Cute puppy!

How loong it take you to finish a paint??
So, oil goes over the Liquitex Acrylics without problem? I had oil reject adherence to cheap acrylic paints sadly... live and learn. Do oils go over the Golden Fluid Acrylics without a problem?
very nice

7:44-7:48
The best part of the video :"D
Great painting but instead of an airbrush could one use Golden Open acrylics…stays workable for hours.
Lisa this is probably a strange request but I have problems signing my name on my work. Will you do a demonstration? You do yours so beautifully:)
Where is her reply? Same question for me!
She did it in one of her recent livestreams. What she does is that she signs her name with a charcoal pencil, and paints her signature on top. She then erases the charcoal underneath. I hope that helped XD
WOOOOWWWWWW GREAT!

JUST WONDERED IF I CAN GET THE SAME SOFT LOOK IN THE BACKGROUNDS WITH ACRYLICS WITHOUT USING OILS. OILS ARE TOOOOO MESSY AND TIME CONSUMING FOR ME!!!
BOB
I'm surprised the owl isn't on the left side vs. looking off the canvas. Very nice though.

Given I went over it with oil paint, yes it could be done just fine without. The airbrush just made things go a bit easier for me :)
Great painting & tutorial :) and Studio Assistant, youre always super cute but I will comment so you get more treats! ;) lol even tho Im pretty sure you would get spoilt without the comments ;) Have some extra cuddles from me too! :D
you're cute for a studio association and I hope you get lots of treats but my studio association is cuter .lol
It looks photorealistic to me.
