I love how you always put the character of everything first, rather than trying to copy them.
Like how you can always distil the character of the details instead of meticulously trying to copy a shape of a little highlight.

I've been aspiring to start oil painting for many years and I've just taken the plunge. As I'm 60, I've to be realistic about the level I'll be able to achieve, there's so much to learn and practice, but it's an exciting path being guided by such a wonderful artist like you.

Another amazing video ! Can't wait to see more ! For the varnish, Baumgartner art restoration wizard uses the retouch resin coat and then adds the final varnish, so I would go with the master conservator's way.
