    The real problem with the station is that you almost have to drive there. It's situated next to thousands of higher density residential units (with more on the way in Tustin Legacy and Warner Red Hill), which would make an excellent case for transit oriented development, but it's pretty hostile to pedestrians and cyclists. Coming from the north side is OK, because there is a pedestrian/bike entrance from the office park north of the station, and Walnut at least has a sidewalk and the 66 Bus Route. It's very hidden, though, and not easy to find.
    From the south it's just awful. Coming from Red Hill there's no way anyone is going to want to bike in a painted gutter two feet away from 60 mph traffic. Coming from Jamboree crossing that underpass is one of the most dangerous things you could do. The bridge over the drainage is like a 2 foot ledge with 60 mph traffic if you're walking, and the bike lane is literally between the right turn lane and the through lanes. There's some 6000 high density units complete and being completed right across the street which will have zero transit options to the train station. There is ample parking in that garage, though. Yay?
    Tustin and Santa Ana have very high density for US cities (8,000 and 11,000 per mi², respectively), and both are getting even more dense. I'd like to imagine that someday, they'll run a tram line through Tustin Legacy and Warner Red Hill that runs through downtown Irvine and stops at both John Wayne and Tustin Station. Probably not in my lifetime, though.

    This was nice - I like this style of video that shows the whole train riding experience! I'll be staying in Irvine for a while soon, on the side closer to the Tustin station, so I plan on using MetroLink to get to Los Angeles.

    Your channel has been growing quickly as of late. When I first started watching, you had around 230 subscribers. Now you've passed 500! 1000 is getting closer!

      Thanks so much for the support! I really appreciate that you've stuck around since then! 1000 is fast approaching, and I can't wait to see where the channel will go from there! I've got some really cool trips planned for the next few months, so there will be plenty more content to come.

    Surprised you didn't stop at Anaheim's ARTIC, coolest station on the line other than Union Station.

      I was spending my day filming the Pacific Surfliners at high speed, and didn't really have enough time to check out Anaheim's ARTIC. I did, however, get to see it while traveling to and from San Diego, and I have to say it looks fantastic.

    If I needed to get to LAX from Tustin with two suitcases, can I do that with Metrolink? I don’t want to pay $100 for taxi, that’s way too much!

    • @LonestarTrips
      @LonestarTrips  Год назад +1

      If time is no object, then absolutely. You can take the LAX FlyAway bus from any LAX terminal to Union Station, and from there take Metrolink to Tustin. How long it actually takes depends on when you arrive, but transit between LAX and Tustin is around 3-4 hours.
      Edit: I suppose if you really want to get creative, then you could take a local bus to the LAX green line station, then take the green line all the way to the end of the line in Norwalk, then take another local bus to the Norwalk Metrolink station, and go from there to Tustin. Again, it's not a particularly fast solution, but it's another alternative to the $100 taxi.

      @@LonestarTrips Hey! Thanks for replying. Is there space on the train to keep large suitcases? I don’t want to lug them up and block the aisles!
