    The architecture is amazing. A couple years ago I rode the Amtrak out of there going back to the Midwest. I had extra time to kill, so I spent the afternoon just walking around and exploring. The courtyard areas look nice, but homeless people were strung out there. I walked through the underpass end to end. It's likely I'll pass through there again. When I get back from Japan, LA will be my way station home. And it's a good excuse to ride the train.

    • @mrxman581
      @mrxman581 Год назад

      No, there is only one Red Line. We don't really call it Red rail. Just the Red Line. However, the official name has been changed to the B Line. LA Metro got rid of the color names and replaced them with letters. The lines go in alphabetical order now to reflect the order in which they opened. So, the B line in this case, was the 2nd line on LA Metro to open on the system. The B Line is a true underground subway. Most of the LA Metro rail lines are light rail (at grade) lines with partial grade separations either aerial, underground, or sometimes both.

      Union Station has a lot of security. It's extremely safe. Leaving it and walking through Chinatown is very safe as well. The area that's not safe is if you walk south between Spring and Alameda. That will take you to Skid Row (particularly between 3rd and 7th). The Metro Red (B) Line takes you from Union Station to Downtown LA (which is a transfer point for trains to Culver City, Santa Monica and Long Beach), Hollywood and North Hollywood (which is a hub for the San Fernando Valley). The Gold (L) Line in Union Station takes you to Pasadena, Santa Anita, Arcadia and Azusa. Those 2 lines run very frequently until very late at night and are very safe. Plus there are a ton of buses that run through it including direct shuttles to the airport

  • @the_letter_b

    Not seeing what others are who think Union Station looks so beautiful. The interior looks very bare bones "Spanish colonial" style, a style that isn't that great to begin with imo unlike mainland Spain's architecture. Grand Central Terminal is much more impressive and more European style, it just may look more beat up due to the heavy foot traffic that goes through it every day, unlike Union Station, which, as we can see in this video, probably has less people in it during a whole day than GCT does within 30minutes time.

    • @Gemashke

      Union station has a lot of traffic go through it every day. This is COCID/COVID recovery traffic you are seeing...Union Station is usually much busier. There has been a 70% decrease in rail traffic in Los Angeles due to COVID.

    • @antoniahamilton3201

      Union Station is a archictectural hybrid design combining the California Missions with that of the Streamline style that was in vogue during that era. A duplicate of The Palace of Versailles would be lacking in design integrity by comparison. Spanish revival was the design vernacular of California at that time and still is a major influence. There are some stunning examples of this style all through out the West and elsewhere. You have a design bias. Nothing more nothing less.
