      Thanks! They really are pretty locomotives, and certainly look great next to the SC-44!

      They look nice but also out of place since it's shorter than the haundai coaches

    Great video! The ticket machines don't make the Windows error sound anymore, they changed it to a more pleasing "bloop" sound.

    I really wish the train would run at top speed. That's a whole 30 minutes saved.

      Me too. Unfortunately the track they run on isn't equipped to handle trains of that speed. Hopefully Metrolink and Amtrak will work to change this in the future!

    Nice trip report. I haven't ridden Metrolink since the pandemic, so my last ride was now years ago. I think that they used to open at least 1 door per car, but if you got there right when it arrived it was only one door until closer to departure time. I've never seen them check tickets at the door. Amtrak doesn't either for the Surfliner. Just for long distance trains.

      I’m glad you enjoyed! As far as multiple doors being open, it was getting fairly close to departure time when I boarded, so why there weren’t more open is beyond me. Also, I have no idea why they were checking tickets at the door. It seems so weird that they were doing that for a regular commuter train. It may have been for the reason I posed in the video, just making it easier for the guards, or for another unknown reason. Either way it was still unexpected.

      I saw a video about that recently where the first two refreshed cars were delivered. No interior shots yet, but the new paint job looks great!

    I’ve used Metrolink 3 times from Union Station so far. The first two times they opened all doors for boarding and scanned a bit after departure. The third time they did the one door/scan before boarding that’s shown in this video due to security concerns of someone harassing waiting passengers on the platform

    Tustin is a nice train station. Trains north in the afternoon go to Riverside and San Bernardino as well as union station in Los Angeles while trains south go to Mission Viejo and all the way to Oceanside. There’s a lot of action at the station.

    I wonder if Metrolink will buy the tracks on both the times i rode the orange county line we where stopped for like 20min because the dispatcher gave a bnsf train more priority. Meanwhile on the san bernardino line, or San Gabriel pass, with Metrolink owns we only stop at the siding on the i10 freeway witch is intentional.

    Did you have to show the ticket checker at the door any ID, or were you allowed to board with just the ticket?

    • @LonestarTrips
      @LonestarTrips  2 года назад

      There was a conductor checking tickets at the door while boarding in LA. Then I think they went through the cars checking tickets for new passengers as we went.

    Nice! Is there a way to distinguish the Hyundai Rotem cars and the Bombardier cars from the outside, or do you have to board the cars to tell which car it is from the inside?

    • @LonestarTrips
      @LonestarTrips  Год назад +2

      They Hyundai cars are the more silver, rectangular ones, while the bombardier coaches have the sloped ends.

      The Bombardier Bi-Levels were towards the rear of the train. They were cars 4 and 5 in our 6 car consist.
