- Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert interrupted and heckled President Joe Biden as he was coming to the end of his State of the Union address Tuesday night.
Rep. Lauren Boebert's moment came as Biden began to discuss how his son, who died of cancer, was among the many veterans who may have suffered from the toxic exposure injuries from military burn pits, used extensively in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“A cancer that put them in a flag-draped coffin” Biden started to say when Rep. Lauren Boebert yelled, “You put them in. Thirteen of them!"
Rep. Lauren Boebert's comment drew an outpouring of boos from Democrats, adding a note of division to an address that received several moments of robust bipartisan applause.
After the address, Rep. Lauren Boebert tweeted, "When Biden said flag draped coffins I couldn't stay silent. I told him directly he did it. He put 13 in there."

Well, I haven't been able to speak with my Vietnam veteran brother since 2017. He received three Purple Hearts and two Bronze stars during his two tours as a Huey door gunner. In 2017 while in a V.A. hospital in Washington state, he fell while being assisted by a four-foot eleven-inch Asian nurse's aide and fractured his hip. My brother was six foot five and weighed 240 pounds. Two nurses were to come and help him but they did not respond.
A V.A. surgeon examined my brother while he was in an induced coma. The surgeon, that was not licensed to practice medicine in Washington, but could work at a federal facility, decided that my brother wouldn't survive the operation. The Veteran's Administration EUTHANIZED him, without bringing him out of the induced coma to ask him his wishes.
The V.A. is corrupt, incompetent, and is guilty of murder, even if euthanasia is legal in Washington.
It's the GOP that constantly votes against funding wounded Vets.
It's amazing most of the people running this country have never served it.

Yup. Our unit along with others got exposed to all that burning oil smoke in Kuwait back in 91. At times we couldn't see 50 yards in front of us in the middle of the day because of the burning oil smoke.

Exactly. And monique, use some common sense here. Trump didn't put those troops in Afghanistan and neither did Obama those troops were there for both of their presidencies and much of that failed war hangs on the head of President Bush.
What did happen, however in the exit of Afghanistan, was an absolute failed policy to get friendlies out of the country as well as our troops and over 80 billion dollars worth of military equipment that is subsequently in the hands of the Taliban. The same Taliban that's killing and maiming men women and children that disagree with their murderous ideological filthy religion.
Those 13 that we lost in the exit of Afghanistan fall squarely on the shoulders of President Biden. He could have avoided all of it...he could have prevented all of it. Well the timeline for the pull out was president trump, that timeline had requirements to be met of which, Biden ignored those requirements and instead decided to pull out anyway.
As a formerly active duty US Marine, everything about the withdrawal of Afghanistan was wrong from the very beginning and it falls squarely on the shoulders of the Commander in Chief.
@@bigstink9 I would guess that the statement was more to highlight that he placed them into a situation that was not strategically sound. If he had followed the initial withdrawal plan instead of rushing it haphazardly. It could have very well prevented those deaths.
It is sad that those 13 soldiers died during our withdrawal from Afghanistan. I also feel its terrible about the 2401 American soldiers that have died in a effort to remove the Taliban and Install a democratic government.

What about the 10s of thousands of lives lost in Iraq, where Bush the 2nd needlessly sent our soldiers to die, and there were no “weapons of mass destruction” as he had claimed? Did you protest against Bush or complain about those lives lost? Biden didn’t get us into the war in Afghanistan, but he had to get us out after Trump made that withdrawal promise by negotiating with our enemy, the Taliban. What a traitor Trump is. At the same time, Trump was reducing troops to sabotage Biden’s exit, knowing we would need those troops to aid in the withdrawal. Trump doesn’t care one ounce about soldiers’ lives - he did that so he could make Biden look bad, just so he could own the libs. He doesn’t care about our country at all. He doesn’t even care about his supporters. All he wants to do is get revenge on those who don’t agree with him or those who have embarrassed him throughout the years. We are just one month away from the general election and potential voters must travel to the Denver Metro area to even know there is even an election happening! Most major party candidates on both sides seem to be taking their base, whatever that means anymore, for granted. It’s truly disappointing.
Specifically, we’ve witnessed this in the race for Colorado Attorney General. In my view, the Republican candidate for AG has made little to no effort to acknowledge that rural Colorado even exists.
Unlike others, I was not surprised when Former Speaker of the House Russ George and Former Attorney General Cynthia Coffman, both republicans, endorsed Phil Weiser for re-election as Attorney General.
AG Weiser has been to southwest Colorado more than any other Statewide elected official. Not only has he shown up, but he also listened. Phil works with all stakeholders to find solutions to the problems we face regardless of political party.
Showing up, listening, doing the job, and leaving politics out of it, is what I’m looking for in an elected leader and that is why Phil Weiser has earned my vote for reelection.
During my time serving in the State Legislature and as an American in general, I have witnessed firsthand the dangers associated with single-party rule. The result is almost always flawed public policy. That is fueled by partisan rhetoric that both parties use to further their own agendas rather than the agenda of the very people who elected them. It is maddening.
I remember not too long ago when voter registration in Colorado was about one-third GOP, one-third Dem, and one-third unaffiliated. Now, Republicans are at 25%, democrats are at 28% with both parties completely ignoring the unaffiliated voter, who now hold the near majority at 46%. I absolutely believe that these changes reflect the distaste, disgust, and disappointment voters have with what we see in our politics today.
Many folks have heard me say this before, but it bears repeating. In his final address to Congress, President George Washington warned of both the dangers of excessive partisanship as well as putting one’s own interests before the overall interest of the republic.
Sadly, we are at a time when it seems neither party nor their loudest voices have the highest interests of our nation at heart. The proof lies in candidates like AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez) and Colorado’s own Lauren Boebert, who are the poster children for what President Washington feared.
Despite her baseless claims otherwise, Lauren Boebert is 39 to 0 in passing legislation and has consistently voted against legislation that would benefit the 3rd Congressional District. This isn’t my opinion; it is a matter of public record. Don’t believe it? Verify yourself; it is not difficult.
What’s more disconcerting is that she continues to lie to voters and claims credit for things she had absolutely nothing to do with. Bottom line, instead of working to represent the people in the 3rd CD, Lauren spends her time jet-setting around the country promoting herself and extreme rhetoric that only divides this country further. It’s disgraceful and we should expect more from our United States representative.
I believe Adam Frisch is a good man. I have had the opportunity to visit with him and get to know him better over the last few months. I know him to be decent, honest, and persistent. He has demonstrated that he is more interested in representing the district than being a celebrity. That’s important.
Naturally, Adam and I differ on various policies and issues. However, I know that he is the type of person who will come to the table and have a conversation. That is what we should expect from our representative.
In my opinion, when it comes to the two choices on the ballot for CD3, the better choice is Adam Frisch. Let’s elect someone who cares about representing the majority of people in the middle that are fed up with extreme partisanship and juvenile antics. Join me in voting for Adam Frisch for Congress.

I don't necessarily agree with what she did - but with that being said, it's really bothering me the way all the MSM headlines are insisting that she interrupted him as he was talking about his son - when in actuality, he hadn't even mentioned his son yet. While I do think it would have been best if she had saved her rebuttal for AFTER his speech - she wasn't wrong about what she said. It also seems to me that those who are vilifying her the most are those who more than likely didn't even bother watching the SOTU. Otherwise, they'd know the truth.

Have we heard the British Parliament lately? I generally like people to listen and evaluate so that going forward they can make the next state report a little better where they can fix issues. These SOTU addresses are no longer given for what they were intended for which is why Jefferson never gave one in public, but merely sent over a hand written report. I am a veteran and since the gulf war these types of ailments were never considered service connected and therefore the VA didnt cover it. It is great to see that these soldiers are now getting the assistance they need.
My intent was to highlight the help for soldiers I, a service connected disabled veteran, am seeing the VA reach out to soldiers to get help. This was not a political statement at all, I'm sadden to see how many of you made it political.
