  • Repeat this process on your right hand. You can slow the video down to as much as 25% by hitting the gear icon on the RUclips player.
I like to begin by rolling my handwraps from the label end inwards. Applying the rolled wrap keeps a steady amount of tension on the wrap as it's being applied; be careful not to drop the roll or you'll have to start from the beginning again (having to re-roll the entire wrap). I like to wrap my hands as tight as possible before I begin to cut the circulation off... this takes a lot of practice at first, but it makes a huge difference.
I'm using Ringside's Pro Mexican Handwraps which are 180" long.
There are many different ways to wrap your hands; I suggest you find a method that best suits your specific needs. This has been my favorite technique that has kept my hands protected when hitting with a lot of speed and power- on something like a 300 lb. Balaz heavy bag, or a Fairtex Uppercut Wall Bag that doesn't move when you hit it. I don't use my wraps to add extra padding to my knuckles, but rather, to create a solid framework for all of the small bones in my hands. Investing is a good quality pair of gloves is equally important. The big distributors often run 50% off specials, where you can get a great pair of all leather sparring/training gloves for around $50-$80. When you get the combination right, you're hands will feel like your body does when it sits inside of a high performance sports car. Lastly, I shoot about a one second spray of Ozium glycolized air freshener into my gloves after every use. Sparring against opponents with stinky gloves gets old, after about three minutes.

You're right: 200 inches = 5.08 meters. They're about twice as long as the generic ones you'll find at your local sporting goods store. Here's a link to Ringside's Pro Mexican Handwraps, which come in blue, black, and red, www.ringside.com/ringside-pro-mexican-handwraps-200.html. I'm still a huge fan of these particular wraps, which you can also use to wrap a sprained ankle/muscle on a backcountry trek, or wrap an icepack to almost any part of your body. I hope this helps you.
