- This little apartment has an amazing view because its in Midtown Manhattan right next to the Empire State Building. Also, if you share it with someone else, its actually affordable.

75k a year purely on rent. Absolutely insane
Dumb to pay rent when you can save up and, in a few years, can easily buy a nice house in NJ.
@@Joseph-lz5ertrue, landlords just laugh at you for paying that. Actually quiet sad but i guess the majority is lazy and just pays
Weak beta males smiling in agreement with the mantra of "You will own nothing and be happy"!
@@Joseph-lz5er Where are you gonna live in the meantime? Perhaps, mortgage is the right decision here, given you're able to make a down payment.
You couldn't pay me that to live there in that concrete hell.
So where was the tiny box apartment? Stop using "tiny box apartment" for clicks. This was mostly just bad footage of New York.
I know wtf is wrong with the guy wrong titled?
Lol
Good Morning All
I would make that fireplace a gel fuel indoor fire place. Why waste great space? It is smokeless, odorless and not toxic. Seen plenty already of them.
Wait, are you serious?? I pay $900 per month for a bigger apartment, and it has actual full size appliances, and much bigger bedrooms. This is insane!
I was raised in the country. Forgive my ignorance. What's a city bicycle? Is that different from a regular bike, or is that a bike the city provides to rent? Maybe I'm overthinking this 😅.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love this. I wish I could afford it.❤
That looks like hell on Earth to me. I would hate to live there.
That really is one of the best all-around deals I’ve seen in NYC. If I had a 12 month gig for great money I could live there for a year. The recreation area/ outdoor deck and transportation convenience really add value to the price. Within minutes you could be sitting on a train and on your way to Boston,Philadelphia and anywhere in New Jersey.
There was a famous scene in a movie with the quote ''You had me at hello''. What I can confirm is ''you lost me with 4900 bucks per month''.
I've never been to the east coast of the country. I was born and raised on a farm in the Midwest, and I currently own ten acres in the rural southwest with a 4-wheel drive & nothing but open space around me. I find this channel fascinating, because I can't even begin to identify with the life I see. I would go absolutely stir crazy living in a huge city and a tiny space. I don't really like people as a general rule. LOL Being constantly surrounded by them would drive me to the nearest psychiatrist. 😬 It's amazing how different our lives can be, and we find happiness in so many different ways. I get to see another world watching this channel. I'd post my world, but it would bore everyone to tears. Very quiet with just the dogs barking or the chickens clucking and the occasional coyote yips. Thanks for the videos!
I could live in both places.
You're right. I would run screaming looking for civilization if I lived where you do!
Same. I’m watching this from the ‘burbs in Western WA. I’ve lived in apartments, but none have been in a 600+ unit building. I’m visiting NYC in September, so I’m sure my mind will be blown a bit.
We have 10 acres in New England. The first house I built the mortgage was $35 grand. The 2nd house on
20 acres the mortgage was $45 grand. I really enjoy the channel also but would go stir crazy and the
rent prices are insane. To live anywhere decent you better make $200 grand …
💤
I can't imagine a more problematic layout for that first apartment with the fireplace directly across from a doorway, thus no room for a couch for that big screen TV. Again, somehow, they made an apartment with no actual living room. And $5000 a month. Even if you managed to put two people in there, it's $2500 every 30 days to live there. Insane.
The fireplace is just a decoration. Do with it as you will.
Especially for a view of concrete and brick all around you, it's not like the buildings in NYC are all that attractive. Go look at a city in Mexico, the architecture and being built into the mountains so many are so beautiful with color and nature.
@@hannahanderson4305 Just check the State dept. warning levels first. Couldn't pay me to live in Mexico.
@@hannahanderson4305😊😊😊😊😊😊
@@mycinnamongirlnot that mexico is a death trap or anything, but it’s surely more dangerous than the us lmao. Also chill with the racism accusations. It’s wild that you’d say something like that to a complete stranger
I’m totally confused by the description of these as “tiny-box” apartments. They seem quite large! Maybe I’m too used to the micro-sized apartments in parts of Europe and Japan.
No you are right tbf. In New York City this is actually a very large apartment compared to most. There are some real “tiny box” apartments in New York that are like 300-400sf and cost more than my 2200 sf house in Florida lol
in absolute size not too bad, but if you do the math for $ per sq. ft. it's insanely expensive
Exactly what I was going to say.
$6,250 is nuts… imagine making high 6 figures and needing roommates but also struggling with roommates lol
Supply/demand.
@@albertalmaguer7362No. It's rampant greed. Hence why there are empty apartments.
@@romktch17 and that's why there are employees to lease them and people are willing to do so, if not the price would be so high and an entire market wouldn't exist.
If people will pay it, other people will charge it. It’s called capitalism. Enjoy the ride.
$4900 for that first dump, my god. Ugliest floor plan possible, clearly built when the only form of entertainment was sitting down and talking to each other. For $4900. I hate NYC because of the prices and feel bad for anyone stuck there. But anyone willing to pay that, rather than move out of the city, deserves to be charged this much.
Where"s the tiny apartment?
wow, this is fascinating. Spend $6,200 a month for an apartment the size of an RV with medocore appliances and fixtures. All so I can live in NYC and shop at all the same places I have here. Honestlsy, the entire building is mediocre, except for the size it is NY big.! For $6,200 where I live I could get a mansion or 5 - 2 bedroom apartments---and all five better equipped.
Literally. Like are we supposed to be impressed or something?
$4900 a month!? What type of jobs do these people have to afford that!?
The pay is just more
Hooker, drugs or mechanics.
Lol, being stoked to be able to see a Macy's is hilarious
I live 5 minutes from a Macy's
Can’t possibly imagine throwing away $75,000 per year on rent.
This used to be the Hotel McAlpin until it was turned into rental apartments in the early 1980s. 1 of my old bosses used to live there when it was converted. Now it's actually a condominium. Unfortunately they've taken any of the old charm & thrown it away except for the exterior of the building. The only reason I can see for them getting the rents they're charging is for the location. Everything in the apartments is basic. Boring, bland kitchens & a microwave on -the counter?? No in-unit laundry in either unit. No supermarket close by & that Target is only a Target express store with limited selection & it charges more than a regular full service Target. Cutting up those apartments to add an extra bedroom in each is the silliest idea I've heard of. You'll get more vang for your buck somewhere else.
Now, this is what I call NYC. Can you imagine how many out of town friends you would have wanting to come for a visit. Or pretend they are friends and rent them a room for a day or two.
It doesn't get more New York than Midtown
yea those 2-3 nights in a hotel can be close to 1k in that area. people will defo try to use their friends with that location lol
Right next door to the Empire State Building 😍
4900$ per month? Lol this doesnt seem worth it.
I would love to see actual tiny-box apartments at some point. These are all so fucking huge to my Finnish standards.
How about the price @4:57, is it huge too? One month's rent in this apartment is more than I pay in a whole year.
There are some super-tiny apartments on this channel, single rooms with no bathroom or kitchen and barely wide enough for a bed.
here are a few I've just found, search for these titles:
"A Tiny $800 New York Apartment"
"Tiny NYC Apartment, Smallest of 2020 Full Tour. Downtown Manhattan Micro Apt, No Stove, No Bath!"
"Living in NYC’s SMALLEST Apartment (60 Square Feet)"
@@justso4509 I had not seen "Living in NYC’s SMALLEST Apartment (60 Square Feet)" so thanks for that. He does show small apartments sometimes, but quite rarely and his titles are always pushing it to the "This is such a tiny apartment" even tho it has multiple rooms and a seperate living room etc. It's annoying to me, but I still love these videos no matter what.
Prices are absolutely insane. But renting isn't cheap in Finland either(in bigger cities) so I can't really comment on that, but obviously a manhattan flat with nothing in it costing about 3000 a month is insane.
@@MrZarewna we call that click bait titling
@@hannahanderson4305 As if I didn't know. It still should have some logic behind it. Not every video needs to be clickbait.
Would you be able to watch the Parade from the apartment?
I bet it would be cool at Christmas!
That's what I just said!
I can't even begin to imagine living in a place like that . I live in rural n.e. Alabama on 55 acres...I rarely see anybody out here. Downside is , next to no shopping, no Uber, no buses, no nothing ....no delivery of anything...many people out here don't even have internet access ....but it's quiet and peaceful and the only other issues are the occasional coyotes and bigfoot!
We have over 10 acres but fortunately there are another 5 to 10 acres around us. We have horses, dogs Cats, even a miniature
donkey. Life’s great just couldn’t Imagine if we had to pay $60,000 a year in rent for a space way smaller then a 2 stall barn.
Now that’s just plain nuts..
Everyone's perspective is different depending on where you were born and raised. My brother lives in rural upstate N.Y. and every time we visit my kids are glad to go home to the city and can't imagine living in " the country". As long as your happy where you are is what's important.
@@queens6583 I was fortunate growing up living in the suburbs on Illinois. Where we lived there still was a great deal of farm land.
Now it’s wall to wall homes. My wife and I did live in New Haven for 2 years that’s the closest to the city living I have ever had.
Now we have over 10 acres and are land locked. I do admit seeing some of the amazing apartments living in the city could be
amazing. But the prices there’s no way….
@@queens6583 I was raised in a big city ...not rural Alabama where I am...it doesn't depend on where you were born and raised. I wanted away from the noise , traffic, crime , etc and I knew the dollar would collapse too...seven years ago. Now it's coming to pass
Sounds like heaven on earth.
the prices paid for these dump apartments can get you large houses and yards in suburbia and even more in rural areas , but to each their own i guess.
Supply/demand.
One person's paradise is another person's misery. Granted, I'm from the country, so a city sounds miserable, but my spouse is from the city and hates the country lol.
The astronomical prices never cease to amaze me. I always wonder what ppl have to do for a living to afford to live in such a place. Or Is everybody a trust fund baby?
$4900? only a fool would pay that to rent which is why there are so many ignorant people on the planet.
I can't stand those suffocating city views. I'd rather look out a window and see the green
I love how they justify the high prices by saying you put up a shitty temp wall and its two bedroom.
😃 If they're your roommate and also a bully.😆😆😆
The rent is bonkers. Gotham Dystopian. 👎
Not a bad deal for the location! I'm pleasantly surprised! And the thought of watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade from above it sounds amazing!
Not a bad deal lol
When they call it a "tiny-box" apartment it means full size apartment here in Hong Kong. I think in this apartment you totally get what you pay for!
I expected the entire apartment to be smaller than the living room was.
I was just thinking that. Also 'small kitchen' !!?? it's 3 times the size of mine! I'm in a proper 2 bed, and 2 bathroom, flat in the UK.
hmm nice, but 19th floor, and 2 rooms for 5k... not sure how that makes sense.. the idea of tryiing make it smaller for an extra bed room makes no sense, 2 people not be comfy there like that
You'd have to earn at least $200k/yr., $4000/wk. or more than $75/hr. or to live comfortably in Manhattan. Maybe more. I don't know how much food, taxes, power, Wi-Fi and other entertainment might cost so I think that $2000k would be the minimum. Correct me if I am wrong. This seems like a good guess.
And this is why I live in cozy northern Kentucky. Lol!
Fun fact. Foot locker is the last semblance of Woolworth that still exists today.
I miss that Woolworths. You could always find whatever you needed there. Do you remember the "nun" who used to sit in front of it v with a basket asking for donations? What a scam she was running
I Hate my One Neighbour so this would mean I will have to hate 698 other Neighbours!!🤣
I can’t believe I lived there for 10 years. Moving away was the best decision.
690 Apts.. Landlord making over 40M, a YEAR, with over 4-6K monthly.. so I'm curious..
At those prices.. why no in Apt. Laundry??
Lots of cabinets...dude, there's like one drawer!!! LOL. No wonder the unit is empty....who can afford to drop $5K/mo. for rent. INSANE!! Real estate has gone insane everywhere. Effing landlords and big corps who own these buildings are greedy mofos.
I was just looking at the tiniest apartments in Japan, so this doesn't look that small. Nice compact apartments. But.. 4900 dollars a month?!! Many Americans don't even make that much per month. Sure, you have all these restaurants and stores right next door, but if you're spending 4900 on rent, how much money do you have left for anything else? I guess you'd have to eat at McDonald's and Taco Bell, because you couldn't afford a fancier place.
Almost the entire population of Whittier, Alaska live in one building and that's 300 people. LOL
Love your videos. Suggestion, can you please mention in the videos if the apartments are pet friendly? Appreciate it!
Nice haircut Cash! Lookin' good man🎉!
You couldn't pay me enough to want to live in that ocean of humanity.
The concrete jungle !
Im from Germany and these prices are crazzzzy... and there are sooo many people around. Where is the peace? You could never relax in this noisy city
I know NYC is expensive. But, I don't think I could ever justify spending that much on an apartment. I can get a mansion here in W. PA for those rates.
damn, I don't even make $4,900 a month and I own my own 4 bedroom house with a garage and pool.
This place is a bit of a ripoff compared to other buildings in the area, I toured it looking for spots during my last lease. Bars on the windows, ancient looking bathrooms and kitchens, most of the apartments have no natural light, and more. check their review lol it's tuff
What an awesome building. And for some reason I’m impressed with the rent. I guess I’ve gotten used to how expensive it is to live in NYC.
I love the location and the building but jeez it’s 4x my mortgage payment for 2200sf in Florida. It would be awesome to be right there in midtown tho
hey mimzy, i think we went to hs together back in the day, your face looks familiar to me!!!
Visited New York last week and went to the Macy's area. I recognize almost everything in that area you passed by, which I find cool 😁 Went past the Herald Towers to get to the base of Empire State. Love your videoes man
Those apartments are nice, and have charm (especially the one with the fireplace). It's great that they have rooftop access. They look larger than I imagined, but their best perk is that they're located in the garment district. So many places to eat and shop, with bus lines and subways galore. In the 1980s, I had a boyfriend who lived on 31st Street and Broadway. It was so cool doing things in the area, and his job was walking distance from home. The neighborhood has evolved a whole lot since those days.
Charm for $5K/month in rent...yeah...well...you can keep your NYC charm and stick it where the sun don't shine.
the only thing this video shows me is that people that live in the city don't know how to mange money properly, for 5k a month you can afford a half a million dollar home outside the city. 5k is astronomical for a apartment that is on the same level as high crime areas. that apartment is pure section 8, ive seen people living off government assistance have better homes, i feel bad for people who willingly stay there
5000 dollars a month for those? I earn less a month...
I like the apartment and the location.
What, no in unit laundry? Other than that, these are really nice. I like the well cared for “Pre War” buildings withe Basic 5,6,and 7 layouts.
Cash, so you got a new hairdo? Is it here to stay? I am digging it.
This apartment is exactly $2000 a month more than my mortgage on a three bedroom, two bath house with finished basement and sauna with two car garage on 1.34 acres of park like beauty in Stamford. I left Manhattan 50 years ago and never looked back.
That landlord is making.. (690 units x $4900 month x 12 month)... assuming all units from studios to 2 br average out dollar wise... That is $40,572,000 a year!! Crazy money 💵
WoW! What a fantastic area to live in! ✌️👍💕
I guess you are either into city living our you are not into city living. I'm not... $4900 for a shoe box? I have a whole 3 BR house with a 1/2 acre lawn and garage for about 1/4 of that price.
I swear his click bait videos are getting annoying, lol
He gets me every time because I'm expecting a literal tiny apartment that's pretty common in New York. Instead, he shows us huge two bedroom apartments with a full sized kitchen, bathrooms, living rooms, etc.
First view lmao nice. Love the stuff Cash!
or instead of spending $72k year on this you can save that and then buy a beautiful house in a town with even better views, people, air quality, community, basically everything except that it's not going to be a big city (which idk if that's a plus or minus). Still nice tour
Love you Cash enjoy watching your videos but would never ever live in NY. Over priced and overrated!!!!!!!!!!!
Every time when Jordan ask for rent, I feel like someone just kick me streight in the ball's! Painful!!!
This is huge and unexpected this close to Macys Parade🎉🎉🎉🎉
How😂may I ask a tiny box apartment that the thumb nail would indicate. Instead you show a giant $5k apartment. This is not the first time that I have had this problem with your channel.
During these days, who wants to live and work in NY? ARE YOU KIDING ME?
690 units! Imagine a fire in that. It would be a nightmare. Or bedbugs, there is no way bedbugs will be eliminates when 690 units cannot comply with measures to terminate the bugs.
$4900 a month for that, absolutely ridiculous price. Who on earth could afford that.
Where I live in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, roughly 60 miles east of Pittsburgh, each one of these apartments would go for no more than $600/month, including water and sewage. Gas, electric, internet, and trash pickup would run roughly $180/month. Rent and utilities included would be about $780-$820. To pay anything more than that is robbery imo.
Seems like a very well maintained building. Nice apts, nice views and very clean. I used to live a few blocks away , and yes, it's a nice neighborhood as well.
I was going to say, nice clean building, nice area for sure. Sounds very reasonable.
Not a fan of pedestal sinks…you always need under sink storage and counter space!! I would never put one in my living space!
That apartment building ,I think, is one used for many movie shot and TV. Looks like the Building from Friends 😮.
A 5000$ FOR THIIIIIS????? NOT EVEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SIZE BUT LOOK AT THE BATHROOM WHAT THE ACTUAL
Imagine earning what most people would consider to be a really good salary and you end up living like this.
Hello, for what is that Metal in front of the Wjndow at 00:06 sec ?? Ive seen it sometimes in Groundfloor n sometimes in upper Floors
With those kind of rents. It is easy to see why all the windows open only three inches with little bars on them. The landlords are afraid you will jump out when the rent is due!!!
But.. these are totally normal sized apartments :D ??? Im in confusion
Yo those prices at the Korean place. $30-$50 for a single dish?
Are those prices real?
You call that a tiny box apartment?
I love when developers turn these old hotels into residential and preserve them rather than demolish them. The place looks great and the price isn't bad for the location.
$6,000 a month for barely any space just to live next to shitty chain restaurants and views of other buildings?? Yeah, real great. NYC sucks ass
Only 4900 a month to look at brick walls around you and hear constant noise from the streets below. Not bad indeed.
@@CODA96No. This apartment has no "brickwall view". From this smaller one, you see Empire state building, part of street, Macy's etc. I liked it. Great location. Midtown has always been the best part of the city. And the rent is not bad at all.

Nice apartments with great views, and surprisingly good closet space! I like the haircut, Cash!

He calls these apartments tiny? Evidently he's never been to Tokyo!
The price a month blows my mind. I can't even imagine. Granted it's not in mid town NY..but I live in a 2 bedroom house with a basement. My rent is $700 a month.
4900 for that crappy apartment? No thanks! Just buy a house
Bro clickbait us again lol... This window view does not look like that at all.
Very nice for the high earner couple with $250 to $300 income
What about hospital bills when I'm mugged on day one?
in my city $4900 will give you a 5 bedroom home in a good Neighborhood
Horrible place for living...
How, in any imagination, is THAT considered a "good view"? I will never be able to rationalize why people choose to live so poorly in the city when a better life is just a thirty minutes away. No offense but I've been in cities and I get the hell in and out as fast as possible. The noise, too much artificial light, the smell of garbage and sewers, crime, cramped spaces..... I don't get it. I pay $1,200 a month for a 3,000 square foot home, with 4 bedrooms, three bathrooms, on a full acre of land, with deer, squirrels, rabbits, turkey, racoons, chipmunks and fruit trees, on the edge of a small town of 5,000 people AND, with a great view of Toronto at night ...... all the way on the other side of Lake Ontario.
I agree. I've lived in NYC all my life and I've always hated it. Now that I have a family I'm planning to get out of this shit hole and move to the Midwest. Hopefully I can make it happen next year.
