WAIT OMG I'VE MET JOSEFIEN! She was a guest lecturer for a young artist program I was in during it's covid lockdown years. She's a great performer and artist (she paints!). She has a lot of great ideas when it comes to music and singing, she knows her craft very well (one if my favorite things that stuck with me was her advice of imagining your voice as an animal, it helps imagine and characterize your voice. The other thing that stuck with me was her accent, I loved it).
Finally, I found a youtuber who plays the lute, theorbo, et la guitare baroque (I don't have the english word for it, so this french). God, I love Dowland so much, you honor him by playing so majestucally, and for this, thank you.
I love her singing, your playing & how depressing this piece is. Don’t know why but I’ve always liked dark music even though I’m a happy person, also nice to hear a piece in English for once!
The same reason we like great tragedies so much and not only comedies. The quality is the same, but the darker works of art answer an inner need we have.
Wow! Her technique is amazing. As a choral singer, I am very impressed. I don’t know much about lute playing, but beings that it’s Brandon playing, I trust it’s also amazing :)
Well, I have always loved John Dowland, but your rendering beats it all! Hark my tears for Covid 19, but this surely makes my day! Please, please, do carry on!
For some rhapsody of fire, blind guardian or haggard..... Or even moonsorow or ensiferum it has that medieval vibe like in this delightful piece, beautifully singed 👏😌
@@hajarch5190 oh yeah! Up for 'Black Chamber' or 'Mordred's Song'! Dowland is their granddaddy, though his music is utterly different. Don't singe yourself! 😉
Metal pieces on a classical guitar, a lute or a Renaissance guitar sounds like they was composed during the 16-17 century. It's crazy how close from early music it is.

This is amazing! I am not going to lie - I got real excited it was an Oud video from the thumb nail. This is great but I heartily vote for more Oud content!
Lovely, so lovely :) You have rekindled my interest in classical guitar and I have, once again, been getting into practicing and hardening my fingertips :) Thanks Brandon.
Oh my gosh. Soooo awesome, sir. I like the other version you did with Ryan as well; going to use that one for my music history presentation tomorrow. Would love to do this one with you sometime, sir.
Oh whereth doust though fair maiden beckon from! I love this style of music thank you for posting this. Julian Bream attracted my attention to this style. You are doing great work.
This is the stuff, dreams are made of. Lute and voice together are perfect, the one complement the other so beautifully in general and it happens here as well. Would you please consider doing a duet with an alto recorder as well? I listened to one today and it was magical, the two instruments are perfect for each other.
If Brandon would dye his hair red this would totally match the scene where Kvoth meets Denna and he wins his silver pipes. From the name of the wind by Patrick Rothfuss.
Perfekt on a day like this. Strange day under, at 13.00 / 1 pm looking out the window seeing snowflakes bigger than potato chips looked at the temometer and it's + 10 °C / 50 °F, 10 minutes later it becomes a heavy rain and 10 minutes more it's a treamendous hailstorm that after 15 minutes dissapear and immediately after that the sky opens up and becomes heavenly blue and the sun makes it look like the most summery summerday of all summerdays, and all in less than 30 minutes. It's supposed to be spring pre summer here but it looked like all four seasons in a hurry, but it's ok with a bit Bach also when it catches the mood here.

If this doesn't inspire you, then nothing will! Very beautiful, both the singing and playing.
So beautiful. It's a sad song but it fills my heart with peace.
Her phrasing and expressiveness are just what I was looking for. The lutenist is just right with her, too.

It's called baroque guitar in english.

oh her sweet warmth voice mixed with the icy tone of the baroque lute❤️❤️♥️♥️
love you guys♥️❤️
For me it's the other way round lol
Dowland c'est la renaissance, et le luth dont joue Brandon est un luth renaissance.
Beautifully sung and played ... this is one of my favourite of John Dowland's songs. Bravo! 😀
Beautiful piece, John Dowland is very melancholy!
Very fine performance by both musicians. Dowland, even at his most melancholic, is always a pleasure.
More melancholy like this please! Loved it
Oh it's coming!
OG goths be like
Powerful music making during a difficult time. Thank you both for your thoughtful artistry.

Dowland's lyrics express my current feelings precisely.
One of the greatest performances of this song, that I heard, if not the best one. Thanks for the subtitles)
Thank you, wonderful.

Absolutely Beautiful
Wow, Lachrimae Pavan is one of my favourite guitar pieces to play, and this is heavenly. Thank you!
Man I am in a good mood after this. And I'm a heavy metal player. Lol.

Love all the Dowland you play!
Brandon you are the best, one of my favorite channels on youtube
Beyond beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing this.
That's why I always love your channel
Very well done! One of my favourites. Thank you very much!
Amazing work to you both! Truly amazing to hear...Especially if you understand how difficult this is to perform
This one gave me the chills and thrills like being in the ancient days of yore.
Absolutely beautiful, both the singing and the lute music.

I like the camera angle on the “lewter”. It presents him as if he is playing down upon us from the heavens.
*FANTASTIC* Thank you both for sharing your hard work.
Enchanting and fantastic. Thank you!
Superlative renditions, both.
beautiful
Love the atmosphere it represents ❤️
Perfect timing given the lockdown technical challenges. Beautiful!
Wow. Stunning.
Wow I enjoyed this so much. Yes please keep them coming

Hauntingly beautiful
Que bella canción y qué lindo canta y qué buen acompañamiento. Genial
Lovely, so lovely :) You have rekindled my interest in classical guitar and I have, once again, been getting into practicing and hardening my fingertips :) Thanks Brandon.
Amazing music!
I love this version. I am so used to Sting's take on his Songs from the Labrynth. Hearing this sung by someone other than a tenor is a big change.
Sting's interpretation did no justice to the source material.
Brings me back to music history class
.... both of you amazing performance!
fantastic!
Beautiful.
Man , I feel like sitting in between JOHN DOWLAND and GASPAR SANZ in Heaven . . . watching you guys perform.

Real music..nice work guys..bravo
Goosebumps.
Love this performance. Gorgeous singing and playing. Dowland's song seem so vital and fresh; maybe the first modern singersongwriter?
Beautiful! 🌹

The King Killer Chronicles! We need the last book! Damn you Patrick Rothfuss!!
By the way, I really liked your observation Jovan!
now that is a goood observation
God, this sounds amazing. I feel like we need a video on how to develop right-hand finger independence.
imo, the lute is the coolest looking musical instrument. I wish I had two of them
one for each hand yeah good idea

Wicked 🔥
Every time i see this guy i'm starting to question my heterosexuality

I feel you, man. Your picture is already affected!
Who cares? He seems like a very friendly and descent guy. And he's a killer guitar player!

Impressive
Very impressive and relaxing but can we see another video about oud
Great cover! The baroque lute is such a cool and versatile instrument. I would really love to see y'all do "The Rains of Castemere" in this format.

The piece is peaceful and the performance is great.
But, who else saw John “Download” in the title line?!
Oh, I hear a "Komm Susser Todd" at the beginning. Was that inspiration for Bach?
My cat really liked this performance, especially the despair parts by adding meow.
Good content keep going ,
And also we are waiting for a new episode of oud 😅.
I keep listening to my old recordings of the consort of musicke... :-(
Beautiful! Very nicely accompanied and sung so beautifully. Brandon, is that a Luth d’ Or Renaissance lute? It sounds great!
My God!
Lovely! How many lutes (ancient instruments) do you own?
