I will buy an 2014 Toyota Yaris 1.3 with cruise control, it seems like a reliable car and I can change the oil in front of my house and save some ££. Thank you so much for this video.
I just changed the oil in my wife's 2019 Yaris sedan yesterday and it looked nothing like yours on the bottom. The oil filter and the drain plug had a cover on them that was held in with a single screw. After removing the screw, the cover had to be slid toward the front of the car and removed to be able to see the filter and drain plug. The oil recommended by Toyota was 0w-20. The engine holds 4.4 quarts of oil. One of us has the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car LOL. We really like our Yaris in so many ways. Number one is the gas mileage. It gets 36 MPG. Thanks for your video.
We don't get the sedan here in the UK. My friends 2018 model was the same as ours??!! Anyway, glad you got it done and thanks for watching. Although not sure if it helped or not. These model Yaris' are getting snapped up these days just because of how cheap they are to run. We love ours, the perfect runaround/dog chariot. Getting nearer 50mpg (48.7) tbh.
Hey Neil, I liked your useful tips. I also like your ramp that you used. I would like make it as it is ... can you please provides it's all specs .... like length, hight, etc. Thanks in advance for your support.
Hi would you recommend buying a 2011 mark 2 yaris over a 2012 mark 3 yaris ? I was told by a BMW dealer once that the last production of a certain mark is always the best as any faults would of been ironed out
There's sense in what the dealer is saying, particularly if its a BMW 😉 I preferred the drive of the MK3 and although ours was an early car, zero issues, just check for any signs of rust. They do a MK2 with the 1.8 from the MR2, bet that's fun!!
Very useful video. But doesn't the car have to be level ie not jacked up at one end? I was pleased to see the recommended step of draining the filter isn't really necessary.
another YT mechanic (who specializes in Toyota) said elevating the car from the front is actually better as more oil will drain with the car tilted back.
Just a suggestion.. do not use a torque wrench to loosen the oil filter (or anything else for that matter) . Torque wrenches are meant for tightening only.
Don't use 5w30 if you can, use 0w20. Heard if you used 5w30 do then use the recommended oil next time. Me,i personally used 0w20 Valvoline for the first 2 services/2yrs then 5w20 magnatec onwards. The Magnatec made a nice difference! Don't do a 10,000mile or 12,000mile oil change, 6-8,000miles max it be ok.
Saving garage bills wherever possible 👍
I agree,but please change at 6,000m not 10,000m.

Toyota recommends 0W-20 oil for this engine

Hi My Yaris 2008 fuel pipe leaked. When i full tank, it waste some fuel on floor. Would you please help how to change the faulty fuel pipe?
Hi Neil what brand is your blue toolbox(socket set) in this video. I want a good set with many sizes.
Is your ratchet a 1/2, 3/8 or 1/4 inch drive?
1/2 inch Mr M by chrome vanadium tools. Was pricey but still going strong after 20+ years. Thoroughly recommend.
You look like Popay the sailor being a mechanic 😂😂😂

Good point. Probably best but the ramps work well for me. Easy to use and most importantly feels safe 😀

Great video.
I have the exact model. Is 10w40 oil good? Some mechanic suggested me this oil.
Just make sure it’s fully synthetic. Car always seems smoother and quieter with fully synthetic oil. Great cars aren’t they 👍
No, check the manual. In my 2013 with 1.33 engine it should be 0w20.
Check your owners manual as it depends where in the world you like...weather/temp. I assume you live in the far east.
Just a suggestion.. do not use a torque wrench to loosen the oil filter (or anything else for that matter) . Torque wrenches are meant for tightening only.
Fair point. Think I was just being a bit lazy 😀
Thankyou. I was going to mention that.

What is that tool?

I thought this would be helpful. but my 2018 Yarras1.3 has a different engine. interesting.
Ah,ok, strange 🤔
This is wrong oil for your car .correct oil is ( API SN / API SNplus /API SP) 0w20 /5w30
Another question is, my car engine oil dipstick bends and not show exact oil readings. its confused. Thanks
