I brought a 2007 manual Yaris brand new. It finally died on me in 2020. I replaced two starters, two water pumps, two clutches, a rear wheel baring, and one transmission before the engine started severely burning oil, then one of the cylinders stopped firing. The car lasted me 645k mostly highway miles. This was the most reliable car I ever owned.
Damn you got me beat by a lot. My Yaris only has 246,000 miles. The only difference is I have done absolutely nothing to it except one tuneup at 190,000 miles I know I know I was 90,000 miles overdue.😂😂 but I do change the oil every 5000 miles. I actually take that back. I’ve had one thing break on it. My CD player stopped working.😂😂
wow that is allot of mileage, you won't see that out of a Hyundai lol, I have a 2012 ford focus and it only has 96,000 kilometers and has gone through a steering rack, camshaft position sensor, heater core, engine mounts and brake rotor disks and is already burning engine oil. I would like to have a simple reliable Yaris or Corolla.
Same here. I've owned more than a couple cars(Honda Civics, Miata, Porsche 911). And the Yaris has been the most reliable, problem-free car I've owned by far.
I owned one, 2013 vios manual batman that's what they are known for in the Philippines. Super reliable & dependable. I just do an oil change. It's my lifetime car.
My brother bought a new 2007 Yaris sedan. He drove it until 2021. It had 500,398 miles on it when he traded it in on a new Corolla Hatchback. It had the original engine and automatic transmission. He had to replace the fuel pump once and the alternator once. He drained and filled the transmission fluid every 100k. Brakes were done a few times, and the fan belts were as well. It was burning about 1 quart of oil every 3k miles. It was an excellent vehicle. The dealer gave him $200 trade in, polished it up, and had it in their showroom as a half million mile Toyota in Lemon Grove, California....
I have a 2012 Yaris, best small car I have ever had. Just an auto, get 48 mpg Canadian on the highway at 65 mph. Battery, tires are all I have replaced. Total of 70,000 miles, I Love it.😀🍁🍁🍁🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦no rattles
My aunt bought a 2007 Yaris, automatic transmission brand new and she used to commute at least 70 kilometers everyday, every week she had to drive to 4 different towns and some weekends visit her parents on a 300+km trip. She serviced religiously and replaced the water pump. Some collisions, never something serious. Owned it for ten years and sold it because she moved to another country. I drove it before she sold it and it was really smooth even with 300+K km. I've never seen or driven a car as good as that and one an absolute artwork
I just bought a 2009 Yaris with 190k miles. Cosmetically it needs a lot of work, but no rust and after watching this video I am convinced that it is definitely worth fixing it up. I appreciate a well built and simple vehicle that can get me to and from work reliably. I also use it to do deliveries for Uber, DD, and Instacart. I love the great gas mileage I get with this car! I hope I can drive it another 200k miles.
I still have my 2008 Yaris. I bought it in 2014 and it's my first car. It's such a reliable car. I wasn't very easy on that car but she's still going. When I got my 2020 Corolla LE, I gave it to my mom and she loves it. The only maintenance until recently were oil change, coolant drain n' fills & transmission fluid changes. Doesn't burn a drop of oil and the transmission shifts smooth. Replaced the water pump a couple of years ago because it was squeaking. Last year I redid the brakes front to back with all OE Toyota parts, even replaced the wheel cylinders with original made in Japan Aisin units. I call it the mini Land Cruiser since my mom drove over a large rock a few years ago and there was no damage. I love no frills basic economy cars.
Thank you! I have an ECHO that I believe has the same drive train. I have 423,000 miles on it. Unfortunately a deer hit me and its sidelined for now. It has been an absolute joy to drive this little car. I am trying to get it back up and running again but something is causing it to dart left as I drive it. If I let off the gas or hit the brakes, it straightens back up. No one can find the reason. But I loved that car!!!
This model was developed for developing market, and you can still see many of this running very strong in South East Asia with hundred of thousands KM clocked without big fuss.
I have a 2014 Yaris L hatchback at 120k miles and it's been fun driving the guy. Everything works and the very least I can do is upgrade the car in the ways that I want to make it my car.
I suddenly missed my 2008 Yaris sedan after watching this. That car never gave me a headache and shown how reliable it is during my 8 years of ownership. It conquered floods and 10km oil changes and still run efficient. Mechanical bits that failed over the years are the radiator fan, rear shocks and wheel bearings only. Thank you for honoring how great this car is.
What happened to it? I just bought a black 08 4dr sedan automatic in 2022-23 with 86k miles had 2 owners the dealer owned it up to 55k miles then 1 personal driver til 82k miles now me.
Sold it in 2018 because I changed to a Mazda 3 sedan. And I didn't even consider the idea of owning two cars at the time. I wish I kept it though. Didn't have any issues when I sold it
Yes, I have the 2000 Toyota Echo 212,000 miles & it runs very well & great on gas almost 37 mpg on the hwy. The only thing in my case is the previous owner did not take very good care of it at all, so I had to replace a lot of things Uber time such as the engine transmission et cetera. However, the car is very comfy. Its spacious enough and it really. Even though it was neglected so horribly, it's still ran and ran and ran. It's amazing it's like a little tank so I think if you take very good care of it. It will probably last you more than 500,000 miles or more, perhaps.
Bought a 2013 Yaris with 172,000 miles on it. Interior still looks new and the engine and transmission feel like they just got off the showroom floor. I got done stripping, painting and undercoating with surface shield and it looks perfect underneath. I’m ready to take this thing to another 100k without a worry in the world these cars are very very impressive
I bought a used 2011 Yaris with a salvage title and 58,000 miles on it. I think it had been rear-ended. 5 speed Manual transmission. Hatchback. Love that car. Runs like Swiss watch. Plenty of head room. I'm 6' 3" and there is still 3 inches above my head. 128,000 miles now. Good as the day I bought it. I feel good every time I get into it. Fold down the rear seats and you can easily put a large road bike in the back if you separate the front wheel. I use my yaris like a small pickup truck. Best car I've ever owned for the money. 32 mpg in city. 39 on highway.
I have been WAITING for you to talk about the Yaris, I bought one used with 130,000 miles and its such a champ. I wanted a prius but decided to still get a cheaper and still reliable car. Do not regret and am such a Yaris fan.
@@wturner777The yaris should never burn oil if it was properly maintained its whole life (oil changes every 3k miles) its literally the most reliable car ever made
@@661_guer05 It all comes down to its owners. I bought a used Prius from the previous owner and had that car been better maintained, it wouldn’t burn as much oil. Now that I have the new Corolla Cross Hybrid, I vowed to maintain it from day one. Hell, I changed the oil the first 500 miles during its break-in cycle.
I had a 2000 Echo. I drove it for 12 years and put 190,000 miles on it, before selling it to my nephew. A lot of Echo owners switched to the Yaris and most preferred the Echo's driving experience. Both rock solid though.
I'm from South Africa, have a 2010 2 nzfe 1.3 yaris , 440 000 km and no major issues, just normal maintenance and she keeps going. I've replaced the clutch, brakes, alternator bearings, fuel guage sender, regassed the aircon, and lowered it with coilovers, absolutely no rust. Best car I've ever owned.
I own a 2007 Yaris it’s the best car I’ve ever had. Awesome gas mileage and gets us around safe and sound. Never flying faster than my angels can fly but we’re flying with Grace!!! Love that car!!! ❤
I purchased mine in 2009, brand new. Used it way less than most of the people commenting here: only 150,000 km (93,168 miles) over 7 years. Replaced it still "young" because I lived in a "very salty zone" (Montreal - Canada). Took a 2016 Corolla instead, but I have to confess: many times I missed the Yaris. I almost bursted in tears years later when I recognized it at the Ikea's parking lot! That car is fantastic for commuting; it's a no mistake if you want it for that application.
Bonjour from Ontario. I hope you are having your Corolla rustproofed. Mine is 18 years old and remains rust free because I take it to Krown Rustproofing every year.
@@rightlanehog3151 Bonjour, from Ontario too (now I live in GTA)! Yes, I started with rust proof treatment at Metropolitan (the equivalent of Krown in QC) and I have to continue the treatment here (I missed last year, but will not nap in 2024). Long live to our Corollas (and long good remembrance of my old and loved Yaris). Cheers!
I never owned a Yaris, but I had a Tercel that wouldn't die. Lots of small simple cars are extremely reliable. The Honda Fit is another super reliable practical car. The added bonus with the fit is that the 5-speed is actually fun to drive.
My family had a Tercel when I was growing up. Early 80's model year. Why my Dad got rid of it I'll never know, it had almost zero problems, which is saying something for cars of that era.
EVERYONE should know he's NOT talking about the ones made by Mazda and just re-badged as a Yaris. He's specifically talking about the one with the 1.5 liter Toyota made 1NZ-FE engine.
@@1993paai The Mazda one is nowhere near as good as the real toyota made yaris in terms of long term durability. You might get 300k miles from the Mazda if you're really really lucky, but you can easily get 400k+ miles from the toyota.
I live in New Zealand, I just recently bought a 2012 Corolla wagon with 163km on it, barely run in 😂 The first thing I did when I got it was oil change, adjust the alternator belt, air filter, cabin filter, front pads, and clean and adjust the rear drum brakes. I've since replaced the tyres and wipers. All jobs were easily accomplished with basic tools, except the tyres. She's definitely no record setter, but she runs like a dream. I'm hoping for many years and thousands of kilometers of (relatively) trouble free motoring. Appreciate the videos, thanks.
2:30 Fun fact, when you start the car, stop the key at 'run' for a couple seconds THEN proceed to start/crank, you will NOT have belt squeal on starting 👌🏽
Could not agree more with you Amd. We currently have about 15 Toyota Yaris cars, not the Mazda made ones, in our small rental company, and considering all the abuse and hard driving that these cars endure daily, it is a miracle that they do not fall apart. These genuine made Toyotas are truly bullet proof.
Still driving my 08 Yaris S, purchased brand new and driven all over the world. Wifey loves our little Yari and it’s one of the most sensible purchases I ever made.
same here. It took 165k for me to need to replace the front brake rotors and pads, other than belts, tires, and fluids it's never had an issue. I have a few other cars, but this one has always felt like I made a good call. I get over 40mpg combined most of the time. Paint isn't in the best shape anymore. Could probably use a new headlight assembly too.
I bought a 2002 Toyota Echo for daughter for high school from a co-worker with 192K mi, same engine as Yaris, 5 spd manual. Regular maintenance, replaced AC compressor, radiator hoses & front brakes. That's it! Still has original rear brakes currently 278K miles. Tried to sell, but no one can drive 5 speed anymore!
Had 2. Sold one when it got high up there, the other (light blue) had ultra low miles which my wife wrecked. Thankfully she was ok but it was done. Now I have a 2005 Sienna that I make videos with
I had 5 of them , 2 are still around as backup vehicles . I did a full eurotrip , and countless trips to Germany , Netherlands , Romania in a span of 6 years with them , never ever been let down . Simple mechanics , easy to mantain . Toyota at it's finest ...
The GF's (original owner) 2009 automatic has 291k miles. Literally no leaks and never a Check Engine Light Alternator went this year, and I think she mentioned the fuel pump needing replacement a few years back. Other than that, just the typical brakes, tires, batteries As soon as I started doing maintenance, I did a complete ATF change. Next thing to tackle will be a leaking CV boot
*Update - Found one for $8 at Pick-N-Pull and got it all up and running within an hour! Holy cow! 8:32 you just blew my mind! I immediately started looking where I can get a cruise control stock. Can't wait!! You made my day. My wife just started needing to travel for work and we were going to replace it since there was no cruise control for 600 mile round trips.
My first car was my dad’s 07’ Yaris base with Manual windows, locks and mirrors with an automatic transmission. I put 75k miles in one year and it never gave me a problem! When she was totaled she had 300k miles
Toyotas are absolutely awesome! Most people don’t know what they’re missing by not owning one. They have absolutely no idea. I’ve owned several domestic and foreign cars and even grew up in Detroit but Toyota is in a class of its own.
Yes, I have the scars from my years trying to keep Detroit engineered cars on the road. Nearly 19 years ago I saw the light and switched to a Pontiac made by Toyota. I will never go back to a Domestic made by the domestics. 😉
Hello AMD, I am John Chan the fisherman. At 54 years of age I like knowledge and wisdom. My wife and I own 5 toyt. After watching this video My wife wants to get a yaris for our retire home down in Florida. My current POV 2007 tundra with a 5.7 liter is not for fuel consumption at around 11 mpg. Like you said a car for point A to point B. I will be green as well probably over 30 mpg. It was an educational video, thank you and God bless
It is absolutely so refreshing to view your channel. To listen and hear an individual who is HONEST & SINCERE to tell the truth!!! It is like a breath of fresh air and amazing, in today's world of selfish attitude. To offer your support is AMAZING!!!!!!
This man is SPOT ON with the reliability. We had a salvaged title 2007 running at 300k+ mileage, and the last 75k was of “SEVERE” neglect (maybe 1-2 oil changes). I did not respect the Yaris, but it really earned it at the end of my torturous ownership. IRON DONKEY
I have a 2008 Yaris sedan, it's probably the best Toyota my family has ever had, my dad recently bought a 2017 corolla and absolutely everything rattles inside. The yaris is super quiet and feels solid. Love this little car.
Still have my yaris, which is my first and only car. 201k miles, purchased at 28k miles for 9k in Brooklyn, NYC. I change the oil every 1,500 miles and it still doesn't burn oil (no change in the dipstick level whatsoever !).I change the trans fluid, coolant and spark plugs every year. I have a underbody car wash plan where I get it washed at least twice a week. In the time I have owned it, my wife has gone through two Subarus here in Maine. I also spray wd40 on the underbody twice each winter to give it some rust resistance.
For a short time I owned 4 of them (one for each driver in the fam)! Sold the one with 280,000 miles on it, 40 people immediately contacted me after listing it, and it was sold and gone 3 hours after listing despite the exhaust being rusted out, not able to pass inspection, and no air conditioning (all of which I disclosed in the listing). These are the ultimate value cars, amazing reliability and low maintenance. My first transmission fluid change was at 270,000 miles.
The Yaris has a special place in my heart. My dad bought it new, and he taught my sisters and I in that car in a target parking lot. We all learned in that car after killing that clutch haha. we gave the car away and the only real issue was rust. I had to replace the rear axle beam on it. It wasn't too hateful
I bought on ebay cruise switch for $18. Drilled hole in steering wheel and bolted it under airbag. My daughter driving it and she said it was awesome update!
I have a 2010 1.5 liter Manual Yaris Hatch, my Father in law has a 2010 Automatic Vios (Yaris )Sedan and my friend has a 1.3 Automatic Yaris (Vios )Sedan- we all had alternator problems at around 5 years of age. My car has 173,000 km / 107,000 miles about to get a second clutch.. I’ve upgraded the battery from the NS60 to the 1SM. I once had the fan belt dislodge from its place while I was driving the car very hard on zig zags. Rust is starting to be an issue. Im still getting around 10 km per liter city driving. Recently solved a low idle / stall issue bu cleaning the throttle valve. Car Care Nut’s video about cleaning the throttle valve was extremely helpful. Thanks
I had a 2003 Toyota Echo, same engine maybe the same chassis as yaris with 310,000 miles, gave it to my girlfriend 5 years ago she's completely ruin the exterior with dents all over the front end left and right quarter panels but still still runs great, and has never let us down..
I got a used 2014 Yaris LE manual for a good price. This video is what started my interest in the Yaris. Thanks! It's a high mileage vehicle, 180k miles, but based on everything I've read the engine can easily go another 100k miles, or more, as long as it was well cared for in it's past life, which it appears to have been. No sign of oil burning based on the spark plugs, absence of soot at the exhaust tip, and relatively clean piston tops based on a peek with a boroscope.
Mine was awesome! 2002 1.3L here in the UK was brilliant, 49mpg best. Changed the TYPE4 fluid only once halfway through my 13 yrs ownership, well drained & re filled twice in a week as i got a 5L bottle that does each drain of 2.2L. Got it on 2008 till 2021.
Hey from Australia. Just loved this video. We bought a 2017 Yaris SX 1.5 litre auto brand new. We just love it. It's a Japan made Yaris. We get it serviced twice a year because it doesn't do 10,000 every six months. Usually under cover and it has no rust at all. It really is a shopping trolley but we use it for everything and it's sooooo economical to own. I'm always singing it's praises but I do have one regret .... I only bought one. I should have bought two and kept one because they don't make these anymore.
Great video ! I took a 2009 Yaris sedan to Iqaluit, Nunavut in Canada’s high arctic and ran it for three years. Battery blanket, block heater and remote start. At -35 Celsius temps it never failed. Not once. Cranked out heat like crazy. Excellent fuel mileage. Electric steering so no belt and pump. 0W20 motor oil. Sold it by word of mouth. Every fibre of my soul still lives in that car. I miss it all these years later.
That’s how I feel about my 97 Corolla I’ll never sell it just love it’s the last boxy simple car. Just a motor/ac and heat/and power windows/radio nothing more nothing less.
I had the Yaris hatchback with the sport body kit from 2014, I paid $18, 000. Traded it in 2022 they gave me $14,000 so I lost only $4,000. Had 94,000 mi on it zero problems. Only traded it in because we got a big dog and need more room. I currently have 89 pickup with $487,000 mi and yes it burns oil and parts are getting old. Had 2006 Scion xB and that 325,000 mi only normal service and the water pump went out. Had 93 Corolla '97 Corolla all over 350,000 mi with normal wear. All California.
Yaris owners, be careful tightening the drive belt. The oil control valve is in a place where you'd want to use a pry bar to tighten the belt. I broke mine and it took me a minute to figure out. Thanks for the video! I'm on the Car Care Nut recommended maintenance plan and hope to get over 300,00 (Currently at 165).
But the VVVTTTTiiiiiiiiiiii control valve solenoid looks strong and to be made from solid metal, looks just like a solid piece of steel put there on purpose to pry on. Turns out its just a thin stamped sheet metal cover, good advice. Suspect many have been munted doing exactly that.
Btw the Recall List on the 08 is stupid! It shows a lot but it’s really only 3 on REPEAT! IDK why but one is Toyota forgot to put the sticker on side door jam telling us it’s load limits and tow limit! And another for Takata airbag which most cars had recalled for! And another for a possible rear brake lamp connector corrode causing brake lights to not work.
The Yaris is possibly the most popular Toyota in Europe. I still see them on the street in Denmark every single day, from the first gen (tho rare) to the newest ones. People abuse and barely service these cars and they don't seem to ever die.
My wife and I have a 2012 sedan and a 2014 hatchback Yaris .The 2012 Yaris we bought new from the dealer really reliable and Good on gas.Very low maintnence.Very happy with our Yaris.
I bought a brand new 5sp hatchback in 2007 for $13k. 17 years and 220k miles later, I still have it. The only "repair" I've done is replacing the MAF sensor. Otherwise ZERO issues. I had no idea this car was this good when I bought it. If you get the manual, you can induce lift off oversteer and have a little fun. They had a one make cup series in Japan so racing parts are still available for import too.
@@yehnahthx You need to search by the chassis name NCP91 and the JDM name Vitz or ヴィッツ. There aren't as many as 10 years ago but you can still find useful parts like racing brake shoes for the rear.
This is exactly our experience. 260,000 miles now all we’ve had to do is the MAF; just recently replaced original spark plugs because I found out my fiancé never did🤣
YES -- EVERYONE START BUYING THE YARIS NOW! Yaris's are GREAT!! You want one, for sure! Care Care Nut should make like 5 videos on them. Oh, and STOP buying LS 430s and driving the price up! Thanks!
I had a 2007 4 door sedan Yaris. Best car I ever owned. Drove it to 182k miles and wrecked it. Nothing ever went wrong with it ! Nothing. Original brakes until 135k miles and nothing ever broke on it. I am still ticked off that I totalled it.
During the pandemic I had to suddenly buy a car and with the lockdowns I had limited income and savings so wanted the cheapest thing I could drive long distance across multiple countries without worrying. I chose a Yaris and have been amazed at just how good it is. It was only intended as a stop gap purchase but as it does everything asked of it and never breaks down I still have it in 2024. Like all my cars I rust proofed in as soon as I got it and I top it up every summer. Here in Europe we get the 97 BHP 1.33 1NR-FE engine with variable valve timing. Its a great engine, if you thrash it then its powerful but I am usually slow and lazy in whcih case it has plenty of tourque which reduces the number of gear changes - handy on a 14 hour drive. These engines are known to use oil although mine does not seem to use as much as most. It pays to keep an eye on the oil level. I prefer an auto but bought the manual because I thought it would be more reliable .. plus I can push start it if the battery or starter fails ( assuming the computer will let me ) Its a 6 speed box and so on the Motorway / Autobahn its only doing 2500 rpm at 70 mph / 120 kmh so for a tiny car its amazingly quiet. I can and do drive all day at 70 mph. In the 4 years the only thing to break was a wheel stud, probably because somebody ran it too tight with a windy gun. With the European car the trick of buying the cruise control does not work as the wiring is not preinstalled. Next week I am driving the Yaris up a mountain in Barvaria for a skiing holiday. On winter tyres its as good as a 4x4. I love the car so much I also bought a 1.3 IQ which is mechanically the same but totally different character and a hoot to drive.
Was it made in Thailand? My sister had one and it was a really smooth, comfortable car and the last small toyota with a conventional auto instead of a droning cvt. The best car as a work horse. No cvt,no turbo, no gdi, no hybrid system. Just basic , fail safe mechanicals.
I have a scion xb with this engine and it has 234k miles and it burns about a quart every 1k miles but other than that it literally drives, runs and shifts as good as my coworkers 2022 rav4. Toyota is such an amazing company!
Piston rings are probably stuck and that's what''s causing it to burn oil. Usually that happens when you don't change the oil as often as you should. Using Valvoline restore and protect motor oil and Shell V-Power gas should clean up those piston rings so they can get un-stuck.
Could also be burning oil from a simple failed PCV valve. I think those only cost a few dollars and are very easy to replace yourself with just a wrench.
I owned a 2007 Yaris bought it used in 2012. As soon as I test drove the car, I knew it was great car, its drive felt reliable, solid and sturdy. Got it with 75k miles, kept it for 5 years with zero problems, I traded in for a brand new Sentra, just cause I wanted a new car and new technology. But damn my Yaris had a fantastic drive than my Nissan, my Nissan felt too loosely. I had regretted getting rid of my Yaris for quite a while.
My Yaris has seen the entire Western US without any issue. She’s an eyesore but damn does she get me where I need to go. 267k miles and many more to go.
i got a 2009 yaris and had it over 10 years. i install an hitch and haul my 4x8 harbofreight folding trailer with sofas, kitchen appliance, washers/dryers, ridding lawn mowers, and other large items. and i even haul it with my 1,000lbs 17ft fiberglass fishing boat @ 45mph with no problem. i was pushing it to the limit. now it has over 200 thousand miles and still rides smooth like the day i got it. never had a problem with it, besides the battery and serpentine belt everything on the engine are original. im glad i made a good investment. its cheap on gas and i will definitely buy again.
I had 2006 Yaris 1.3 vvti in Europe. Amazing car and it's the most reliable city car over there. The second owner still has it and the engine runs like new with over 350k km
wow i did a lot of research in november and decided on a used hatchback 2015 toyota yaris... i am so happy i got it. it has the GREATEST gas mileage.. what an amazing car
Got a 2013 one, automatic, in gold Never gave me problems, all it does is just putter, the air-conditioning is great, it sips fuel well, stupidly easy to drive, great to see out of which is becoming a rarity nowadays They're a basic, unexciting car that goes from A to B and for my current standing as a 24 year old who's just starting a career, its good enough
Hi AMD. I Had 4 Four Yaris in my Life The First was a 2001 2NZFE, that i make 420.000kms with anything but oil changes, Spark Plugs, One Fuel Pump, Shocks Absorbers, One Bearing, and Gasoline to fill the Tank. The 3rd a 2008 2NZFE my Mother in Law Bought and the Final 4th 2009 2NFE auto, 4 doors Yaris. This is My Little Endless Love. Reliable Reliable Reliable.

Thanks for sharing the story. Please ask your brother about his oil change interval and the brand of oil he used.
I forgot to mention that he already has 100k on the 2021 Corolla Hatchback with zero issues and a steady 40 mpg on the freeway....
l have a 2007 yaris, has 30l,000 miles, still runs like brand new, very reliable and dependable car's.

Same here! Still running strong at 280,000km since 2009. Had it repainted late last year. Love it!

In Europe you could even buy 1.4 D4D diesel. I found out it's the greatest every day highway commuter with lowest fuel consumption ever.
I hope you are rustproofing your Yaris.
Yeah, use the lanolin oil based rustproofing like Fluid Film.
The Yaris is my dream car. It makes me smile whenever I see one on the road. Cute car.
My wife does the same 😂😂
I still have my 2008 Yaris.
👍
This car is the ultimate tank. Called vios in almost Asian countries. Unbeatable work horse
Here in the Philippines, they call it Vios. They used as Taxi, Police car, fleet cars etc. so durable and reliable
It’s crazy they still put these engines in new vehicles over seas.
I have loved my 2005 Echo, precursor to the Yaris, now with 312,000 kms!!
I have always regretted selling my 2008 Yaris when I upgraded to a Mazda 3. This year I'm hoping to see if I can purchase it back
What happened to it? I just bought a black 08 4dr sedan automatic in 2022-23 with 86k miles had 2 owners the dealer owned it up to 55k miles then 1 personal driver til 82k miles now me.
Any reasons you sold it? I’ve kept far less reliable cars for over 20 years.
Sold it in 2018 because I changed to a Mazda 3 sedan. And I didn't even consider the idea of owning two cars at the time. I wish I kept it though. Didn't have any issues when I sold it
I own its predecessor, the Echo, still running even with the terrible roads we have in Ghana almost 300k miles on.
This is my first car. Came in manual. 99% of taxis in Philippines are Yaris. But the name is Toyota Vios.
I absolutely love my Yaris!!! I got my 07 in 2008 with 44,000 miles and we are still going with over 320,000 miles!!! 🙌🏾
The Yaris and Corolla are the Gold standards for small cars period. They are comfortable and reliable. I am over six feet and easily fit.
The Yaris was excellent for taller drivers as were some Corollas. Today head room is in short supply (pun intended).
Yes, your Yaris has more headroom than today's RAV4.
If you go to Puerto Rico you see a TON of them. Super reliable 👌

I bought 2007 model brand new. Still have it. Most reliable car I have ever owned.
I never owned a Yaris, but I had a Tercel that wouldn't die. Lots of small simple cars are extremely reliable. The Honda Fit is another super reliable practical car. The added bonus with the fit is that the 5-speed is actually fun to drive.
Lots of simple cars are extremely unreliable which justifies a video dedicated to a good one.
I'm on my second tercel they are fantastic cars first one had 750 000 I unfortunately crashed it second one is currently at 367 000 and going strong
We still have a Tercel running in the family.
My family had a Tercel when I was growing up. Early 80's model year. Why my Dad got rid of it I'll never know, it had almost zero problems, which is saying something for cars of that era.
The fit is a great car, a little bit of mods and the car is super fun

Yes and is he talking mmt auto 🤔
So then my question is how does the Re-Badged Mazda 2 version compare to the one that he is talking about?
@@1993paai The Mazda one is nowhere near as good as the real toyota made yaris in terms of long term durability. You might get 300k miles from the Mazda if you're really really lucky, but you can easily get 400k+ miles from the toyota.
I live in New Zealand, I just recently bought a 2012 Corolla wagon with 163km on it, barely run in 😂
The first thing I did when I got it was oil change, adjust the alternator belt, air filter, cabin filter, front pads, and clean and adjust the rear drum brakes.

Fun fact, when you start the car, stop the key at 'run' for a couple seconds THEN proceed to start/crank, you will NOT have belt squeal on starting 👌🏽
I had a 1992 Tercel DX never failed, I gived to my Dad, and then I got a 2005 Corolla S and still running no problems just regular maintenance.

I drove this for 12 hrs traveling and this is truly a hidden gem. Simply amazing.
You really should be changing the transmission fluid, brake fluid and engine coolant every 50k-60k miles.

Most people think the 4-speed auto was outdated but it's probably one of the best things about it. Bulletproof.

I"ve seen 1NZ FE in 1st gen scion XB at 500,000 miles and still running.
FYI Toyota sells the Yaris in the Philippines. Retired expats who’ve bought them say they’ve great!
wow i did a lot of research in november and decided on a used hatchback 2015 toyota yaris... i am so happy i got it. it has the GREATEST gas mileage.. what an amazing car
Got a 2013 one, automatic, in gold
Never gave me problems, all it does is just putter, the air-conditioning is great, it sips fuel well, stupidly easy to drive, great to see out of which is becoming a rarity nowadays
They're a basic, unexciting car that goes from A to B and for my current standing as a 24 year old who's just starting a career, its good enough
In Chile many of these are taxis, some of them with over 600.000 km. That 1.5 was excellent, the car is light so is very agile. Great car.

The 3rd a 2008 2NZFE my Mother in Law Bought
