    You are seriously the 2020 version of Gennifer Miller. She had a website called Healthy Textures and she addressed EVERYTHING about black hair care. And I do mean everything. She explained porosity levels, PH levels, relaxers, color, roller sets, blow drys, styles, end maintenance, root maintenance, prepoos, you name it, she had a video on it. She's a big fan of moisture/protein balance. Alternating every week between moisturizing deep conditioners and protein deep conditioners. Her hair is relaxed and probably to her waist by now.
    She's actually still on Facebook under Healthy Textures and there a lot of her old vids here on RUclips also. She's not active anymore because she got married and had a baby. But if you're not familiar w her please look her up. Her hair is gorgeous and I used to follow her videos religiously.
    I'm glad I found you because you're just as informative even though you're relatively new.
    But I definitely wish you would do a video on porosity. When you know if you're low or high porosity it makes a big diff.
    I agree w you about heat styling every now and then. It's good to be able to see the product of all the diligent hard work. Also, you want to be able to see your ends when straightened and see how much growth has occurred.

    Hi Kimberly .. I just found your channel and really love your straight to the point videos. Another great video .. I’m at the point I just want to cut all my hair off - been natural w/ 4c hair - a nightmare , tried texlaxing - hair literally feel off each time I combed it and now I’m relaxed but I don’t seem to be having good luck. Horrible experience with the only ‘black’ salon in my area. Some people are just not lucky when it comes to hair 😂

    • @AlexisKimberlyy
      @AlexisKimberlyy  4 года назад +1

      cocoversache Aww, noooo I don’t believe in bad luck! You will find your happy medium! I know it. Not having a good stylist in your area is tough. I know this is not the most convenient option, but have you considered traveling (within reason) to get your hair done? If you can stretch for a few months maybe the longer drive won’t be so inconvenient? Good thing is that most of the work for a healthy regimen is totally within your control. Of the three styles you’ve tried, which is the easiest for you to maintain? Which left your hair feeling the healthiest?

    These tips are very helpful! While I’m not relaxed (I big chopped over 2 years ago), I do flat iron my hair every time I wash and deep condition biweekly. So my hair is heat trained or “thermal” relaxed, which is much easier for me to maintain. I think these tips apply to heat trained hair as well!

    • @AlexisKimberlyy
      @AlexisKimberlyy  4 года назад +1

      That is awesome! When natural hair is manageable (e it is definitely preferable to any chemical process. How's your hair doing with the heat training? Thanks for watching, my love. xoxo

    • @TheChanelbelle
      @TheChanelbelle 4 года назад

      @@AlexisKimberlyy My hair is still healthy, but I realized in the past week that even though I'm heat trained, my natural hair is still protein sensitive and needs more moisture than relaxed hair, otherwise my hair becomes brittle. So I only use protein in my deep conditioner for strength, but then use only protein-free products daily. Working well so far!

    I'm still praying on if 2020 will be the year to transition back to being relaxed or stay natural. This decision has been hard. I love your channel, you encourage me to make the plunge. My hair was MBL before I went natural, haven't see that length or fullness as a natural.😫

    • @AlexisKimberlyy
      @AlexisKimberlyy  4 года назад +11

      Benetta Boyd-Byrd I just prayed for you, girl. I know it’s not an easy decision. Sometimes it helps to write down the pros and cons of each to visually see which option outweighs the other. Also, figuring out your why is helpful. Why did you choose to be natural? Why are you resisting relaxing when you experienced better results? You may be holding onto a thought or belief that’s not actualizing in your life the way you thought it would. Pray about it and then move. There’s really no wrong decision. Even in the worst case scenario, hair grows back. Trust me, I know from experience lol. Let us know what you decide to do and good luck! ❤️😘

Right now I feel like my hair is stuck and not growing. I’m also getting bored of it not to mention the high maintenance natural hair requires, ALSO with being in the military lol. Hi. After 30 yrs, I've decided to try lye relaxers to see if i can get my hair to be stronger. It's naturally coarse and somewhat still thick(53 yr old), past shoulder length. My question: I'm noticing 1-2 inch long strands coming out more than I'm comfortable with. the strands are tapered towards one end and the other end has the root bulb so I know it's new growth but why is it falling out my scalp so soon?

    • @Regularblackgirl

      A texture softener is a mild form of a relaxer. It might double process your hair if you add it on top

    • @AlexisKimberlyy
      @AlexisKimberlyy  4 года назад

      @regular black girl is correct! You run the risk of overprocessing your hair. I'd seek out a professional to talk options. It's hard to say without seeing your hair. But I would just begin relaxing where you left off with the texture softener!

    Hey Kimberly I am relaxed but I want to transition into textlax hair how can I do this???

    • @AlexisKimberlyy
      @AlexisKimberlyy  4 года назад +8

      Hey Dara! You can transition to texlaxed, but just understand that the same way you would transition from relaxed to natural hair, you're going to have to maintain multiple textures in your hair as your relaxed hair grows out. In your case, it will be three different textures: your new growth/natural hair, your texlaxed hair, and your relaxed ends. I would suggest using the same relaxer you normally use but leave it on for a shorter duration of time. Make sure your hair is in a healthy state to start and you follow up with protein treatments, because the multiple lines of demarcation in your hair will be prone to breakage. You can do it, but you have to be extremely protective of your hair. You may want to do a lot of protective styling in the beginning as you're transitioning. Let us know what you decide to do and good luck!! xoxo

    • @daraadu1056
      @daraadu1056 4 года назад +1

      So how would you recommend I start???

    • @AlexisKimberlyy
      @AlexisKimberlyy  4 года назад +4

      @@daraadu1056 Do you self-relax or see a stylist? For texlaxing I always recommend a stylist do it because it requires a lot of attention to detail and consistent application. I can't really speak on application because I don't do my texlaxes myself. I would suggest consulting a professional and watching "My Salon Relaxer Routine" video here: ruclips.net/video/DG9gYCugO8U/видео.html
      and also my "How I Texlax My 4C Hair"
      ruclips.net/video/KfzMFqVPT50/видео.html
      I go into further detail about how I get my texlaxed results. But you'll want to be mindful of my hair texture compared to yours. My hair is fine but resistant to chemical processing. Definitely follow the instructions on the box and recommendation of your stylist!
