Well worth it to go all out improving every aspect of this Raptor 700R. They are outstanding quads in every respect. Been named best sport quad of all time.. also best selling! Has excellent Yamaha engineering /design. Exceeds Hondas best sport quads in performance & features..in my opinion. Reliability is outstanding as well (if maintained properly like any machine. Think the F150 of quads! Just best all around).
Love the work your doing you truly inspired me to start doing project builds I completed my first project I was so proud of my self but before I wanted to give up I literally did not think it would crank up.I’ve been watching you since I was watching since 13yo I’m 18 keep doing what your doing, wish I can come across projects like yours price wise of course.
When you put it back together. Put the transmission into the case side that the crank stayed with. Then just slide the clutch side case over the shafts. Don’t forget the dowel pin and oring between the 2 inner case halves either. If you do you’ll have no oil pressure.
Be careful with the chemicals on the plastics, I have found that a very fine steel wool (#0000) won't scratch, a green Scotch Brite pad (which you used) or a Mr Clean Magic Eraser work great, then I follow it with a plastic polish to bring back some of the shine
@@danebowen729 I do the same thing but sometimes you just have to pickup a pack of the EXTRA DURABLE magic erasers for stuff the knockoffs just won’t handle
Quidzilla the company did a raptor 700 video years ago so if you have any questions or anything I would refer to that video the guy does a full build of the engine and tells you specs and what not it’s a really good video but the guy takes the “clean” meaning to a whole new level lol it’s worth a watch
Pro tip from a non pro… You should put a Jack under the engine when removing the engine mount bolts to relieve the weight/tension on the bolts… make the bolts punch out easier and less likely to muck up the threads.
Nice video ... I like watching these machines getting torn down and put back together! Some things I do differently, and some things the same, but it's fun to watch someone else doing the same stuff I do on my channel. Thanks for what you do ...
i know you are deep in it, but would have been cool to find someone to tig weld the cracks shut or get a cheap tig welder and try it; good luck with your restore.
When removing a swing arm bolt, I use a wrench the size of the bolt diameter slipped on the back side of the factory end to keep from beating up the factory end, you can also use it to pry/beat the swing arm bolt out.
You have to try this cleaner named Korkay. It's actually used for RV awnings but I clean my whole RV with it. Works on plastic, fiberglass or metal. Instantly melts away mold and mildew as soon as you spray it on.
At 18:50.... use an old adjustable wrench or equivalent to brace against the bolt head. Then use the hammer between your hand and the bolt and hit/hammer the wrench. That'll give you better leverage to get the bolt out, and it won't muck up the bolt head.
Shame about the broken Tusk tool but I'd say that you definitely got your money's worth out of it. Don't know how many cases you've split with it? You recommend it and I'd use it. Thanks again for your time and videos. Have yourself a great weekend.
I think the tusk case splitter has a lifetime warranty if I'm not Mistaken.. Also If water got in the case, wouldn't there be more rust inside the motor? I'm thinking maybe they bottomed out on something real hard without a skid plate. But what do I know..
Hey dude love your videos but watch out with break cleaner it ruins your clear coat on the plastic love your videos helped me with my bikes when I couldn't figure it out my self keep up the awesome work bro!!
It hurts every time he brings out the break cleaner, wd 40, and some rough pads to clean them 😂 they looked nice and dull after that cleaning job lol. He does good work though
see the handlebars and claw hammer made another appearance . Think there is an underlying problem with this bike i not having the ice in the engine story. clutch would be a mess as would the bottom of the crank. was there any spare chunks in bottom of cases?
I watched a video i cannot find now but, a guy scuffed his old plastics then used a heat gun after and he brought back most of the shine in his plastics.
I appreciate the step up in speed. Not only do i find 101 mechanics painfully boring but I've become addicted to the unfortunate future....unlike doctormotorcycle where he can attach a turbo to a 76 kawasaki and it runs better than a 2022 CB.
Looking good boss you got your work cut out for you here ! when you told us to Watch for the bolt coming out that was holding the motor in I kept saying it was coming but I guess you didn’t hear me LOL! But anyways great video can’t wait to see you get this thing running👍🏼🤩
you should get yourself a karcher steam cleaner ( the big hot pressure washer). you can pick them up cheaply and you would be amazed how well you’re bikes would come up. no need to scrub with a scotchbrite pad
looks like the water did not do any major damage if it were me i would put in new rings and valve seals and of Corse new gaskets then don't have to warry about burring oil and blue smoke good find on this 4 wheeler
I have a 2004 400ex it would hop in second gear so I pulled the motor and split the case I replaced the shift fork because it was bent and had strange ware on it I put it back together and ran it it now pops fully in and out of second gear any advice would be great
The one thing I know about the 700 raptor is the high compression .if you allow it to chug and stall or kick it over and it back kicks meaning a compression kick back the bottom end breaks and ya end up getting a whole lower case and repairs it happened to my friend and he still has a lower end and case .but I'm go see him and if he still has it I'm see if I can grab it and hit ya all up and see if ya want it .but I know you know all about wheelers excetra it's just the experience that I've seen happen .but ya goodluck godbless and stay safe
Great job getting that big thumper engine apart! Hope you scored a good set of cases off of ebay for it. This thing oughta haul some serious butt when you get it going! Thanks for an informative video!
I’ve seen a lot on the rafters specially for sale I’ve seen probably about three or four had crack engines I think some of it caused that they rigged it too much that they cracked the engine case
Just bought an 07 non running for $1800. Turned out all it was is the battery had reached the end of it's life. Very possibly the original Yuasa from 2007.
Hey just for some advice don’t use them green scrubbing pad all that is sanding the plastic and scratching the plastic and making them dull just use a power washer and soap on a regular sponge also wd40 isn’t a good one either it leaves grease all over it but just trying to help you out I’m sure theirs millions of ways but yea if you used that green thing on a car it would ruin it so def don’t use it on your quad
Damn bro, that's a lot of small parts in that engine. At least you have a video to reference if needed. Super Clean in the purple bottle is a good cleaner/degreaser. I'd be curious to see how well it would do on the plastics. I know it melts grease and oil on contact.
I highly doubt the reason for the cracked cases was due to water damage. There would have been some water damage within the bottom end especially if it froze. Also how would the water have gotten in bc I doubt it would come in from the crank breather hidden under the seat. I think someone smacked it while riding.
Yep I thought the there was going to be a rusty mess behind the case covers… not one bit of rust either side.. the bottom of the case does seem to be pushed out though and he didn’t say there was any sign of it being hit hard from beneath… Lucky it’s not rusted out as less parts to replace..
he is a beginner welder, those cases are likely cast aluminum, aluminum welding takes a very experienced/master grade welder. he could possibly Aluma-weld it, which is a hybrid brazing/soldering method, all you need is a hot MAPP gas torch and clean surfaces
why not have someone tig weld case? use a sample piece of granite stone from local countertop sales, so you know its flat, re surface case and put back together, ive done it on 4 different engines now. tig works well. and would be much cheaper then 850$ just make sure the person you pay to do it is a good tig dude
Many times for some reason people let motorcycles and four wheelers sit right under the drip edge of the roof of a house or shed not sure what happened to this but that could have happened to this one?
Take a 5 gallon bucket. Wet the four-wheeler wiyh warm water first let it sit for 5 minutes and then pressure wash it and all that stuff will come right off

I'm a huge fan of Magic Erasers. They really are amazing, especially with boot marks. Maxima Bioclean does a good job as well.
This ^ . Mr Clean Magic Erasers are worth their weight in gold on plastics. I order the generic ones by the 100 pack on eBay.
@@danebowen729 I do the same thing but sometimes you just have to pickup a pack of the EXTRA DURABLE magic erasers for stuff the knockoffs just won’t handle

You should put a Jack under the engine when removing the engine mount bolts to relieve the weight/tension on the bolts… make the bolts punch out easier and less likely to muck up the threads.
Especially for the often stubborn swingarm bolt.

$2450 is still pretty good. I paid $3700 for mine and really only dropped $600 on new tires and x ring chain
You should be able to alloy weld those cases no problem, i'd look inot that first ,should be a lot cheaper
i know you are deep in it, but would have been cool to find someone to tig weld the cracks shut or get a cheap tig welder and try it; good luck with your restore.
Mr clean magic eraser on white plastics. You'll be shocked how good they work. Keep up the great content!
When removing a swing arm bolt, I use a wrench the size of the bolt diameter slipped on the back side of the factory end to keep from beating up the factory end, you can also use it to pry/beat the swing arm bolt out.
I love the idea of 700 ccs. Sounds like alot of fun
Love it when the old green handle bars come out!
You have to try this cleaner named Korkay. It's actually used for RV awnings but I clean my whole RV with it. Works on plastic, fiberglass or metal. Instantly melts away mold and mildew as soon as you spray it on.
Hi Joe any good welding or machine shop can weld them and save you allot of money
I recommend getting rid of that plastic water pump gear and upgrade to a much stronger steel gear
At 18:50.... use an old adjustable wrench or equivalent to brace against the bolt head. Then use the hammer between your hand and the bolt and hit/hammer the wrench. That'll give you better leverage to get the bolt out, and it won't muck up the bolt head.
Magic Eraser and auto trim care does a great job of removing crud from plastics.

You should get a tig welder ... Looks like those cases could be fixed...
That mold spray works amazing with plastic and mold. It like bleaches it off!!
Good thing making the video, you can go back and reference it
Some 00.00 steel wool works perfect for and leaves no scratches behind at all.
Maybe throw some new rings and valve seals in it ... another $100 for peace of mind
see the handlebars and claw hammer made another appearance . Think there is an underlying problem with this bike i not having the ice in the engine story. clutch would be a mess as would the bottom of the crank. was there any spare chunks in bottom of cases?
At 3:35,I was yelling "PRESSURE WASHER" lol. But good video that's for sure!
SOS pads elbow grease and water the best thing to clean plastic black mold is the hardest to get off but it will get plastic looking almost new !
I watched a video i cannot find now but, a guy scuffed his old plastics then used a heat gun after and he brought back most of the shine in his plastics.
im trying to find a good bike to ride around my niebour hood fast idk whats a good bike though any recommendations?
I broke my tusk splitter too it’s not uncommon when you got a cranky bearing and a messed up crankshaft for anything binding them together
I see we used the green breaker bar today ! Good choice..😃👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Bleach and warm soapy water for the mould on the plastics 👍🏻 also find out if you can get the cases welded save yourself some cash 👍🏻👍🏻
Look at all the parts. What a mess. Good luck. On this build. Tackling a 700 isn’t an easy task.
You are a brave man. Good job
Always gotta love the handle bar cheater bar.

Try a pressure washer to clean the plastics, spray it down with a strong detergent first and let it soak.
Find someone and weld the cases back it should be fine
Here is your next turbo project!
Would it be possible to have the cases welded?
I might just sell the cases as is to somebody that could weld them. I don't know if I want to use the welded up cases for this project.
I can fix that. No journals were damaged.
@@2vintage makes sense. At least recoup some of your money for the other cases.
