Huge respect for your mechanical skillz, patience, videography, explanations etc. Entertainment and instruction; you cant beat that.
😂🤣😅 Woo he has got you fooled. He ain’t no dumass but he does some dumb shit and if you was somewhat mechanically inclined you would catch the major no no’s
Will name this bike ( Living on borrowed time )
I couldn't agree more
I couldn't agree more
Joe don't play been watching for 6 or 7 years. One of the best on you tube. Great job joe
I'm currently rebuilding everything but the bottom end on my 01' 500 Rubicon. I know you haven't done a video on those, but some of the information in your videos have helped. Plus I just enjoy watching someone who has a real passion for what they are doing. You seem to have a lot of common sense and patience, which I believe is a must for performing this type of work and achieving good results. Just wanted to let you know that your efforts are appreciated by many of us. Thanks.
I have the same exact machine as you. How many miles did it go before it needed to be rebuilt?
Agree with alot of the comments made , Joe is a top mechanic but if stripping an engine fully apart or bike/quad at least give everything a deep clean . Maybe invest in a parts washer
Joe i just wanna say, you have came A LONG WAY.! Ive followed you for some years now and im still enjoying/loving your content and still learning some stuff from you.! Keep on doing what your doing.
My OCD wouldn’t allow me passed those dirty cases
I was thinking about that to. Would a parts washer work?
yeah, but this guy is stiff and even after that many months and some hate he still hasnt gotten one@@iwnichols91
Man oh man you are the hardest working youtuber EVER
And your seeing the edited content . The real struggles produce speaking in tongues and burying a bike in the field like hiding a body .
Even in fire 🔥 once .
Very entertaining & informative
Not even close lol
Definitely he is a good instructor .

Hey, you should consider buying a waterjet cabinet, to make all your builds super clean! I recon you could profit from the purshase in the long term. Love your vids!
Watching you work on these engines and carburetors, you have showed me a lot , Thanks 👍
With all the bikes you go through don’t you have a solvent tank to clean the engine cases? You rebuild the engine and the outside of the engine cases are filthy!
Been rebuilding my ‘94 KDX 200 that I got from the PO completely apart aside from the bottom end. It has been a journey getting it all back together and it’s pretty crazy how many little parts the guy did not give me lol. This is the second E series KDX I’ve rebuilt and the first one looked worse but was more complete. Your videos have been motivating me a ton!
Wow, that was beat up. Congrats on getting the puzzle back together. YFZ450s can be a great quad, right in the medium power band.
Yikes, good looking quad with lots of issues. Congrats subs way up, views up, now sponsors and MERCH
You are doing the community a HUGE favor by sharing your knowledge and experience. God Bless Thank you 🙏
Nice rebuild. I'm sure someone will enjoy that quad and hopefully take care of it properly. 👍👍
Another great video! You make it look too easy! LOL I have learned a ton from your videos, keep them coming!
36:07. I’ve always preferred using vaseline on gaskets or rubber hose. Keeps the gasket in place, makes it easier to remove, and doesn’t hurt anything. They both work, just figured I’d share. Great video as always, keep it up.
You shouldn’t use Vaseline on rubber seals. The petroleum in the Vaseline deteriorates the rubber pretty quick making it porous. Try something like Molykote.
@@Duckridingdirtbike any brand of silicone grease
i love your videos man im currently restoring a 87' 250 quadracer and most of the stuff to fix it ive learned from u
My dude , I love watching you rebuild or fixed then dirt bikes 🏍️ or 4 wheelers, I have two of them living in south Florida,,, am a truck driver , watching ur video’s make my days gos fast ,, n yes I watch from start to finish, thanks 🙏 my dude
Never EVER use gasket maker on a carb or intake tube. Gasoline will eventually break it down even if it is "Fuel Safe" and it will clog up pretty much every hole in the carb. I use a bit of Sticky Red Wheel Bearing grease to hold gaskets and O-Rings in place if I'm having any sort of trouble with them moving.
I’ve learned so much from you man. I’ve flipped 3 bikes now just from knowledge I gained watching you.
Alot of people dont know that about the bearings Joe I believe thats the first time you have mentioned which way the bearings with the lip goes
Another’s great rebuild, your channel is going from strength to strength, well done 👍
Awesome content. I love your channel, always wanted to learn to do this, I tinker with bikes when I was younger and rebuilt a few.
Working on rebuilding a 2012 Polaris RZR 900. Alot of your engine rebuilding videos are very helpful.
BTW do not buy a blown up Polaris RZR unless you have around $5k sitting in the bank for parts. They can get very expensive, very quickly especially if you have to get into the bottom end.
Cheese what a bunch of intricate parts going from all the motor works to the Subframe and grab bar, Joe I'm sure you could Build Your Own QUAD TRANSFORMER, SO Knowledgeable with all the reworks you've done over the past years, really a treat watching you do the work you know so well, AWSOME.
Such a nice looking quad! I love the complete rebuild videos. This makes me wanna quad again, I think I'm gonna sell one of my dirtbikes and get one. I'm a smaller guy so I'm thinking either one of these or a Raptor 250. I grew up riding a little kawasaki 90 and then a bulky Yamaha Kodiak 450 lol. I miss those days so much.
@22:25 You should have done the cam mod while you were you there. Little bit of extra juice for the yfz's and it's free.
Well done on break in. Heating and cooling the rings without redlining it will make it long lasting. Frankly, the oil squirter was the cause of engine failure. Unlike auto engines, the crank has no oil galleries to provide lubrication and relies on the squirter to lubricate the rod bearing as well as provide splash oiling to the wrist pin and piston cooling. Really do enjoy your channel and your works in giving the bikes and quads a second chance at life. Beats the hell out of them going to the scrap yard!!
you have becomed my top 1 channel to watch pretty quickly ! Keep it up i love your videos
Just finished a 2005 yfz rebuild. Added oil squirter. Motor has loud tapping what I believe is from wrong head gasket blocking oil to the valve train. Took the clutch side case off to see if squirter was hitting the piston. No evidence it was but it was loose! Pulled it out easily. Epoxy (jbweld) to make sure doesn't come loose again. Waiting on gasket. Cylinder Works big bore
You really know this stuff well ! Great job on the rebuild ! Great stuff buddy !!
Great repair on the quad and really like the cotter pin repair on your feeler gauge.
First time I've seen you use the freezer trick with bearings. I commented that on one of your videos. I do it all the time with universal joints. Works well
Why wouldn't you do it? It takes 0 effort and make a difficult process a lot easier. Headset bearings, wheel bearing....you name it. Throw them in the deep freeze.
He’s used it in past videos but the one I watched was pretty old
Sweating in bearings is the only method I use. I heat my cases in my garage oven and they just drop right in no hammer needed. The case was not hot enough in this vid.
Every mechanic does it.
all that work, only let down is the dirty engine cases.
I would never work on my carb while it was still that dirty. Use your ultrasonic cleaner and KNOW it is perfect when you rebuild it. Excellent job on the rebuild of the quad.
Love your cool manner with your narration. Would love to hear about your resale of these projects and how much you profited. 👍
2Vintage thanks to you I am looking at buying my first quad bike for about £500 (about $637) to repair and sell on
Great video, love watching the rebuilds
I love your videos and you inspired me to do what you do
Love when you get the carnage bikes and save them best content please keep more quads and dirt bikes coming. Suggest sell inventory and start fresh keep like 5 bikes all whatever you choose to do brother keep the hard work and motivation coming for us fam 🦍🤙
I'm glad you got it together. Enjoy.
They said I must of said something wrong. But whatever people say you have a great channel, and I really enjoy it thank you!
You can also put a bearing or race in the freezer overnight and it will shrink it just enough to make it easier to tap into position the next day. I even have to do that with the wheel bearing grease seals on my trailer. :)
Amazing job joe well done 👏
Excellent work Joe!!! Hoosier Wing.🇺🇸💫⭐️👍🏻
You do a great job.. But you should really clean the outside of the case before putting it back together... I know you don't think that dirt can get inside the cases but it can.. Plus it looks better than...
Been following your channel for a long time ,i always look forward to your videos great channel.
bro lives an hour and a half from me. Thats so cool. Ive never been so "close" to a youtuber before
That sounds lame. Just a dude that fixes and records stuff.
@@Shadowban69 who asked you 😭🥱
Incredible. You are killing it man. I have been rebuilding a carb for weeks 😅. And I probably have a few weeks to go on it. The bike will probably not run until next spring. 😅😅. It try everything except the thing it needs. Finding parts for these old carbs is like. That’s because I am mostly guessing. The part comes in and I try it and guess what? Order another kit that probably will not work. It’s probably not even a carb issue. 😮😮
You may want to invest in a table top oven big enough to hold a case half. Turn it to 325f insert case half for 15min remove case place on table knock brgs out with small rubber mallet and install new ones before case cools. Easy peasy :)
He doesn’t invest in anything hahaha
Ill never understand why people that have the entire engine /frame apart dont clean everything... Its not just to look pretty but how you gonna tell if you have a new oil leak etc if its still coated with 20 year old , old oil stains etc? you need a small bead blaster or at least take a brush with some old gas and clean up that hot mess.... Must be my ocd i guess
Not your OCD, it should be common practice. Engine components can never be too clean. I'll never understand assembling dirty parts especially making videos for the world to see. Take a little extra time and pride. Imo just laziness.
My ocd is killing me as well !! How do you not disassemble everything and clean it ???!! Especially after all the metal shavings in it.
lol
Always someone who comments this. Now I think he does it to annoy people lol
The dirty carb killed me lol
You should always replace all bearings no matter what will save you down the road
A proper parts washer is great also better for cleaning metal parts up and better than water and soap
You should get a bearing/ race driver for installing those bearings. Helps pound them in more evenly.
Easy way to remove the valves is to put a 14mm socket on the valve springs and tap with a hammer and to put back together just stuff a piece of paper towel in the socket put the keeper's ruffly in place and tap the socket while it's over the valve spring and keeper's and your done. Works everytime.
Oh and the rod bearing gets oil from a passage that runs through the crankshaft. The oil squirter mod is more for the wrist pin .
Your really talented at that stuff man....awesome job
A cut down pool noodle works nicely to slip over the rod to keep it from clanking around.
Maybe it's just the audio, or it having a stock pipe on it. But it seems like it sounds terrible. I'm not trying to be a hater at all I'm just giving feedback at this point. I appreciate what you do.
Gotta add one more phrase here after seeing you ride this amazing build, JOE BUILDS IT UP/ TO RIP IT UP, feel free to market this phrase on your advertisement T-Shirts. lol.
Yeah she’s broke in. Soo hard to resist. Running great! Nice build. 👌🏼
Thank you, I now know how to rebuild any Yamaha quad or bike.
I like how you replaced All the seals
wow this one was a doozy I'm glad it's running. Your a great machanic I'm learning so much.
parts washer, and ultrasonic for cleaning all those carbs, and other critical small parts?
Just satisfying to watch you rebuild this mess of a engine!! 🙂
Watching from zambia💯I followed this project from start great work..I would like to ask,, when buying a used an aftermarket quad what documents do you I have to request for??
another awesome bike saved by the @vintage, great work brother joe
Only youtuber i will watch-hour long vids
Appreciate you watching!
Thanks joe, just traded 2 1991 polaris 325 fourstroke for a 2012 yfz 450, forgot to ask buddie what to put in the jug infront of engine😂😂😂
Man I love your videos it’s like a therapy for me 🤣
Better check the swing arm bushings. When you lifted up the back end the swing arm looked real loose.
Really enjoy the channel!!
Breaking in procedure, ride it like you stole it!💪💪💪
Awesome, but it seems like it needs a different jetting or different carb altogether.
The yfz's are notorious for hanging idle, its pretty much normal for them to hang a little.
You should have advanced the intake cam 1 tooth, much power gains. What do you do with all those bikes? Keep the videos coming.
You did all the right things great job
My dirtbike is an 05 yz450f with a stage 3 rebuild, 501 bigbore, and stage 3 racing cams but almost everything on the yfz is abt the exact same
❤ it was a good video I like it when it goes together at the end. 😊😊😊😂
Good job as always. If you ever need a test rider. . .
Love the rebuild videos
Great job mate.👍
Now see how nice the top end looks compared to the lower end and the carburetor.. otherwise great job man....
We have just seen a brain surgery.I love your videos, And you teaching us as well.10 out of 10.
Good job I like that quad!
Did I see a yamaha yz 80..u had one when I was a kid. Lol
bearing install works better if you put case in oven for 20 min lowest setting. freeze bearings overnight. should drop right in!
Yep, no hammer needed.
You need a MAP gas torch. It would speed up your bearing process by a good deal
Great video as always
Hey bro can you do a video how to but the idle down from a yamaha yfz 450 2006
I have problem with my quad
whats the hardest part about building an engine im a beginner and want to get into it any advice love the vids
Just amazing 👌
you need to get a part cleaning machine so you can clean all your parts before putting it all back together, I really enjoy your videos and keep up the good work.
Just saying clean your cases before putting new parts in them.
What type of oil you run. I'm in Ontario Canada and have a cfmoto zforce 800 trail thanks
Good job Joe
Any update on the rare 3 wheeler
Never hammer a bearing in from the inner race, it puts all the shock loads on the balls. Get a bigger socket, and use the outer race to drive it in.
Do you measure the bore before ordering pistons?
U never mentioned the price of the longer stroke replacement crank? Or did u reuse the installed crank.
Do you not test the rod bearing with plastigauge?
I know you don't read the comments, but that is running weak on the pilot air screw as it hangs on to its revs when you rev it.... 47.30 mins in.
