    Good video. Thanks. My 2008 Lincoln MKZ Cooling fan module was constantly running and drained the battery. Had to purchase one from the Yes Ford Dealership in Huntington, WV to the tune of $724.00. They diagnoised it for $142.00. They wanted to install it for $600.00. They guaranteed me that that was my answer. So I took it home, installed in . Took me an hour to take the old one out and put the new one in. Fixed the problem. Cost a lot but now it is fixed. About 500.00 too much .

    Got a 2009 ford flex so I am very aware of the problem below comment as stated with the internal water pump and had to replace my fans. My girl just bought a 2000 lincoln ls today with just shy of 80k for $1800. Great engine, I went over it. Engine looks great inside and out, All fluids look great. Except I came home and realized I never seen a transmission fluid bottle on a car. Fluid looked red. Well transmission is sealed! and the red fluid bottle is for a hydraulic radiator fan system. Yes radiator fan fluid!!!!!!!!

    • @fixersautomotive4514
      @fixersautomotive4514  5 лет назад

      JisINSANE3 yes you are correct. Lincoln uses a hydraulic system to spin the radiator cooling fan. It helps w/ power surges due to electric fan motors, since the power steering pump is already being use they just use the pressure to spin the fan. Good luck w/ your LS.

      I'm A building engineer, And I look at shit like this and can't understand what the hell would anyone do that for especially over small 14v spikes. Does not make sense. Overengineering for no reason and they wonder why a luxo car looses $1000 a mile when driven off a sales lot.

    Hey Arturo good video. I have a 2008 Ford Edge and have the same Solus edge and could not put fan on Garbage. But I tested power and ground to the fan and got 12 volts both on power and ground side. Check continuity from Pin 48 PCM to small wire on FCM and it was good. Obviously the 60 AMP fuse is good. I went ahead and put a new fan in with a control module DORMAN brand and it still does not work. Code comes back. I am assuming either a bad PCM or another bad FCM. I ordered a second fan hopefully it works any ideas to back probe and get a variable voltage signal from the PCM to work without commanding the engine fan? Possible turn on AC let me know please.

    The Temp sensor is the next possible issue but it requires removing the lower intake just to get at it.

    Helpful video. I have the same MKX with similar overheating problem. My fans work when I hooked them up directly to the battery. Everything else looks good, except I have no power coming to that little white wire that plugs into the fan control module. I used a test light on that white wire with it disconnected from the FCM and with the car running all the way up to 206 deg F = no power in that white wire. Any ideas what else it could be? Hopefully not the PCM...

    • @fixersautomotive4514
      @fixersautomotive4514  6 лет назад +1

      Brian L, hello the white wire it’s a square wave signal. It won’t light a test light. You need a multimeter or a scope to test that white wire. What your looking for is a constant adjusting signal. The coolant fan module has a high failure rate. Hope this helps out.

      One quick question. While I wait for my new fan assembly to come in (I live on a small island and it will take 2 - 3 weeks)
      I am connecting 2 relay's and a toggle switch to my fans so I can turn the fans on and off manually and still drive it while I wait. Do you think I can use that little white wire as the trigger wire to turn on my fans instead of the toggle switch? This is basically how I am wiring it all up - www.gtsparkplugs.com/images/two-speed-manual-fan-relay-wiring-840x.jpg
      Thanks again!

    • @fixersautomotive4514
      @fixersautomotive4514  6 лет назад +1

      Brian L, just hook up the toggle switch to the fan. Don’t do anything w/ the white wire. That’s a computer controlled driver that turns on and off the fans. You don’t want to take a chance and damage that circuit becuz of you do that’s a ECM replacement. Just wait for the part. Good luck.

    So Arturo, what if my passenger side fan comes on? Could it still be the module. The passenger side fan comes on when I turn on the AC or the engine reaches a certain temperature but the driver side doesn't come on. The engine is not overheating but my AC only blows cold when I'm moving.

    • @fixersautomotive4514
      @fixersautomotive4514  4 года назад +2

      Can you swap connectors on the control module?? Start the car turn on a/c and tap the motor of the fan that doesn’t spin, if it starts to spin then you have a bad fan. Hope that helps and let me know. Thank you.

      @@fixersautomotive4514 thanks buddy it was definitely the fan motor gonna replace it in a couple days and I'll definitely be using this video as a guide. I just wish I didn't have to replace the entire assembly but in south Alabama this time of year there isnt much I wouldn't do to get cold AC.

    2007 Lincoln MKX fans not working. Have checked every thing. New Temp Sensor, New Fan assembly, New Thermostat, fuses good, checked continuity and still not working. Not even when the ac is on. I'm lost.

      Does your MKX have a towing package? Have you checked to make sure you have power coming out of the fan control module to the fan or fans? Make sure you have power going into the cooling fan control module???

    Same thing my 2015 Lincoln Mkx AWD was doing. Replaced the fans and it works again. This Lincoln is a money pit and the last Lincoln I will ever buy. Has had issues non-stop since new and now at 112,000 miles. Other than the comfort and looks NEVER again.

    Is these reliable

    • @fixersautomotive4514
      @fixersautomotive4514  6 лет назад +1

      DanDan Moore generally yes. The biggest problem is the water pump on this vehicles. 3.0, 3.2, 3.5, 3.7 V6 Engines. Ford has been making this Engine w/ a timing chain driven water pump. Ford makes a new updated water pump. The WP have a big issue w/ leaking internally and mix coolant w/ Engine oil. It’s $1000 or more to replace the water pump. If you buy one make sure the water pump has been updated w/ the new style. Good luck!!
