I have the same year, make and model, over 200,000 miles. I have traveled all over the world in it and outside of a few suspension issues and regular maintenance, it’s still running great.
As an owner of both a 2011 Ford Edge Limited and a 2013 Lincoln MKX, I get to experience the best of both worlds. The Edge has been my daily and absolutely love it! The MKX definitely is more for the bells and whistles and the far more speedy ride. Overall a very fancy Edge and I love that I get to have fun with both!
What about what’s important? Ride quality and NVH?? Didn’t don’t hear you mention that and the edge is very very well equipped I can’t imagine the Lincoln having much more . What does it do as a LUXURY car?
@@Natethegreat200cIf you are asking me, based on my model year Edge and MKX, there is a noticeable difference in both when it comes to NVH and and ride quality. The MKX handles a lot better and the cabin is a lot quieter especially with the SoundScreen windshield. In terms of more luxury, the MKX has ventilated seats and a heated steering wheel which definitely get used all the time. The seats overall are more comfortable. There are a few other differences but aren’t as important or crucial between the two but overall it is a better bargain versus the Edge. End of the day, I love both.
I have a 09 I bought from original owner at 160k miles. She was hard on the car. I've got 207k on It now, Ive replaced all 4 wheel bearings, both front struts (needs them again already since they are aftermarket), both lower control arms, tie rod ends, it needs a new driver side CV joint when I replace struts again, replaced one cracked wheel, replaced drive shaft (carrier was shot, non serviceable) $400, dropped trans fluid twice (has always shifted hard in reverse). Change engine oil every 4k and doesn't burn any. Currently trouble shooting fuel system vacuum issue (check engine code and gas cap light). Replaced wire harness for heated/cooled seats, still doesn't work on drivers side, going to replace the circuit board soon (common ford issue). Ive replaced all spark plugs and other normal maintenance as well. Car is cozy to drive being AWD, doesn't feel like it has the HP it's rated for, but gets me from A to B. Fuel mileage in Michigan is 18 ish city and best of 22 mpg on highway in summer (could be poor due to my fuel system vacuum issue). Oh, and replaced all three motor mounts.
Sounds like it did have a bit of a hard life. It’s hard to get past that sometimes. Good for you for staying on top of the repairs thought. If you let the problems pile up it’s very hard to catch up later. Hope you have the worst behind you!

Im currently thinking between buying a 2007 MKX with 138k miles for 6K and a 2011 MKS with 62k miles for 10K do you have any advice with which one i should go with
If we’ll maintained, way more than most people would think. It’s very hard to put a number on it. My wife drives an ‘09 flex with the same engine and it has 250K miles on it. The water pump started leaking so that has to be replaced but the motor runs great and does not consume oil. These motors are very easy on oil. Even at 5K miles after an oil change it still looks very clean.
Same fuel economy as 2011 and newer 3.5 V6 Ford Explorer and 3.5 V6 Ford Flex. If getting the 2.0 I4 ecoboost Explorer, it is rated at 20 city, 28 highway for FWD. 2013 Ford Taurus FWD with the 2.0 I4 ecoboost. drove it 300 miles and it got 34 MPG, mostly interstate driving. It's rated 32 highway by the EPA. Many compact 4 cylinders cars will do the same, maybe even a bit worse or better depending on the gearing and drag coefficient
Would the water pump be more susceptible to go prematurely in a northern climate with cold winters or would hotter temps be more of a factor? Do coolant changes help prolong the water pumps life?
I think that changing coolant on a regular basis and driving the vehicle on a regular basis is the best thing you can do for it. You can’t really control the climate you live in so I wouldn’t over think that. Most climate fall under “extreme” due to either heat or cold anyway.

I have a 2008 MKX and my sunroof failed about a year ago. They got mine closed and suggested not to use it. I don’t think they are replacing them because they are very expensive. Just getting mine closed by the dealership was around $800!
