Part Number On The Transmission?
Thanks bro, I just fixed my light at 12 am.
You're welcome!!
Does a 2010 sante fe have a maf? I can't locate one when trying to order one
I'm not sure off the top of my head. My first question is why are you trying to replace it? If it doesn't even have one, then it for sure isn't causing a problem.
I was taught to put the same amount back in from what i took out what your opinion on that
it's a good starting point, but I don't think it's the best way. How do you know it was at the correct level to begin with? I have heard many stories about even the dealer not filling it to the correct level. The only way you can be certain is to follow Toyota's procedure.
Withe the rusty sway bar link once you feel resistance thread it back on then go back at taking it of 👍
That oil light flickers on nd off when the car vibrates. Do u have the part # for that sensor? I believe mine is bad cant figure out why else the light would be flickering on nd off it has oil in it.
There is a link in the description.
Hercules tools are every bit as good as DeWalt XR or Milwaukee Fuel tools. I don't use them as much as the people who I work with on construction sites and majority of them have moved to Hercules. Can't beat that warranty and ease of replacement if ever needed.
I heard that if you use a scanner to measure the temp of ATF, the scanner needs to be in Active Test - TC Terminal mode. Is that true? Thanks.
That sounds like it may be a requirement for a specific scanner. The scanner I used in this video doesn’t have those modes as far as I know. There’s no “behind the scenes” going on, I show exactly how I accessed it.
@bennieaust Thank you!
@ you’re welcome!
Thats only half the shit fluid. Drain the torq converter ffs. Get it all out. 6L of bad oil in system is brutal.
@@111dcormack I’m not aware of a drain plug on the torque converter, does this torque converter actually have one? If so, I completely agree, if not, that’s why I repeated the process. Of course the new fluid will get diluted with old to some extent, but it’s about the best you can do. Regular maintenance will help prevent the fluid from ever getting to a terrible state.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think these diffs and transfer cases call for 75w-85 gear oil. Which is hard to find unless you just order some amsoil severe
After replacing the water pump timing chain and lining your dots up top when it comes to this belt your turning on the crank does this throw the timing off installing the power steering belt or do u have to line the dots back up top b4 starting the car
This will not affect engine timing.
Wont the undercoating over the rust with out paint excel the rusting?
Only if you are trapping moisture in there.
Awesome video, thanks for the help!
You're welcome!
is this the same for my 2021 rav4 hyb???location of transmission, rear diff, etc
This video is for the 2016-2018 models. Model years 2019+ are a different generation and I don’t know for sure if they are very similar or very different.
Would recommend doing this same flush in all Hondas that have a high mileage and the transmission service is unknown?
It’s certainly not a bad idea, and if you are doing it yourself it’s pretty inexpensive.
@ What do you with the other 2 gallons left? Is that totally bad or can be used?
@@eliommusk1585 the 3 gallons you drain out? Take it to the hazardous waste drop off or your local auto parts store that accepts used oil.
What in the heck were those Ford engineers thinking. Pulling that oil filter off and no oil is hitting any cross members and you didn't have to call your double jointed friend to reach it.
It’s too easy. Why would they do that? Haha
Just to clarify you had the Tacoma running when you drained the overfill plug?
@@gk5052 yes
Bennie, Did the cardone brand shaft hold-up? No idea if this is your vehicle.. Wife has same issue & been a ford engine tech for 30 years, concerned about $100 shaft quality but not many options out there, thanks would suck to replace & 6 months later new ones coming apart or slinging grease...
@@robertdimeglio7880 it did, in fact my friend (the owner of it) just sold it about a month ago and it was going strong.
The dealer charges $300 for this service.
That sounds about right.
Tensioner, for sure, not cam. With regular oil change and deleted VCM, they can last 500k.
Did you see the failed cam? Unfortunately I didn’t catch the cam noise in the video, only the tensioner noise. But I have replaced several cams in the Honda 3.5 for this same failure. Yes, the tensioner failed, but clearly so did the cam. If I had ignored the failing cam it that would have been a poor repair job.
I have a question bud, I have changed the belt on my 16 Rav 4. When I put Ac on I’m getting a noise, after a while it disappears. Thought it’s the tensioner. Bought one from oreille parts and replaced still does same any idea ? Mechanic gave up. Please advise. Thanks.
It’s hard to say without seeing it, but I have definitely seen several ac compressors that were noisy. If it comes and goes with the ac, I would suspect the compressor.
@ Thanks for the reply, Does that means compresor going out. While it’s winter now when I use heat compressor not using for heat ? I don’t hear that with heat. Thanks much.
@ it may be going out. It may just be a noisy clutch. The compressor will run with the ac and when you are using the defrost.
@ Thanks again. God bless.
Will this fix the clunk into gear? And sometimes a clunk and surge almost when starting the truck?
It may. I wouldn’t guarantee it, but I have had luck with it at minimum helping.
@ thanks for replying
@ you’re welcome!
Any ideas on what this should cost at a mechanic?
You’d really have to check around locally it can vary a lot from area to area
Hello boss, What’s the recommended interval for transfer case and rear diff on non hybrid toyota. Thanks.
I don’t recall off the top of my head, but I would recommend somewhere from 60k miles to 100k miles depending on climate and how hard the use of the vehicle is.
@ Thanks. Appreciated.
Car care nut says to engage the transmission cooler bypass during the measurement routine. Are you sure you didn't miss something on this vehicle?
I agree, if you have the transmission cooler you should engage the bypass. Are you generally asking if I’m sure I didn’t miss something or is there something specific you are asking about?
Shop wants over $800 for this. Said they have to drain the transmission and remove oil coolant lines. Guess I'm doing it in the driveway
For $800, for sure in the driveway!!
So, the years do matter with the fluid. I have an 09 and the fluid is DW1 for my car. I used Castrol transmax imports to top it off bc it was damn near empty.
Anyone know what size the crush washer is for the small check level plug?
The fender flares say it all.
If only it was just the body!
Great video, although I have no idea how you managed to get the new struts hung without help. You made it look ridiculously easy haha. Still trying to find a way to use my floor jack to compress the strut enough to get the retaining clips on.
lol, I suppose a lot of years of experience help make it look easy. I definitely do not gloss over trouble when I run in to trouble, such as the fact that the new struts did not fit in to the knuckles without modification. On the flip side, I won’t make you watch every second of every task because that would be a really long boring video.
It looks easy, I have 4 hours to do it, 2 bands already broke 😂😂😂
:( it’s certainly easier if you’ve done a few and are a pretty proficient mechanic.
I had shutter problem with my 2019 Pilot…I now change my transmission fluid at every other oil change interval. No more shutter.👍🏼
It seems a though that’s the only way to prevent it. :(
Will this work on a burnt honda element wiring harness too? I have the same issue with my right headlight.
The process is the same on just about any vehicle. Just make sure you order the right harness for your headlight. I’m not sure off the top of my if your vehicle uses the same headlight bulb or a different one.
Very clear video, very helpful 👍🏼
Thanks!
Just to clarify you had the Toyota running when you drained the over fill?
@ yes
If i had the money and space for a lift it would be super easy. I'm a fatso and have to get under it on jackstands. 😅
lol, everything is definitely easier with a lift!
Quick question, does it create spark when trigger is pressed?
@@randombiker8002 the 12v Hercules tools are not brushless so it probably does / could. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything though.

Hi quick question if I use the original Mopar fluid. Do I use ATF+4 or 8&9 Speed ATF
8 & 9 speed. I have fluid linked in the description on Amazon.
Wow thanks for this video! There’s no video out there showing how to do this on a pro master city! Now I know where to put the new fluid in.

Hey I’m not trying to be a dick but not just some of them aren’t “the prettiest, I wouldn’t say that any of em are“ the prettiest..” I’ve seen some pretty welds an they look nothing like that. I have definitely seen worse too an it really doesn’t matter what they look like, as long as they penetrate both pieces an bond em together. I’m pretty sure that’s its main purpose, not to look pretty. I’ve seen beautiful weld fail and a some of the ugliest shit pass an probably still holdin strong today. Most people probably don’t have enough ambition to even do or try to do something like frame repair. I say good job.
Sounds like you’re familiar with welding. The surface that you’re welding makes all the difference and I definitely had a crappy surface to work with. I agree, the main purpose is to hold it together. Feel free to judge my welding, I posted it for everyone to see. The truck is still going strong so far.🤞
The BEST video yet of what to do on a Toyota transmission!
Thanks Chris! 😁
You’re the man! Thank you

How long does it take to replace ??
A couple hours. It's a pain.
Nice video, good explanation. Thank you.
You're welcome!
What about torque settings for all fasteners?
I didn't provide torque specs for anything. A Honda service manual or Haines manual would be a good reference doe torque specs.
It is easy to just think of it this way... The belt goes outside of all of the ribbed pullys, and then once you get it there, you have to feed it over the smooth pullys.
Does the fluid have to be synthetic or as long as it meets GL-5, it is OK?
As long as it's GL-5 it's ok.
Hey Bernie, Thanks for the video, very well done I might add, without a lot of camera moving around getting me sick!!! I have a SMax identical to yours, same year same color. I love your new seat, but don't think I will pull the trigger with the cost and since I ride local nor more that 50 miles. I have a question on your back rack, I looked all over the place for a mount that would fit, no luck....I see yours is a Shad....I could have sworn I checked them out and they didn't have one to fit the 2018. Is yours a stock item from Shad or did you have to modify something from them? Thanks, also what is your trunk brand please. Couple of unrelated things if you don't mind me posting them for other people considering this bike or one that is similar. I come from riding motorcycles from years ago and things I found a bit odd riding a scooter, I should say this scooter. I am 5'8" and the leg room for me is just adequate, wishing I could stretch them out a little more sometimes.... you are correct is saying the standard stock seat tilts a little forward and would be annoying on a long trip so I think you made a great choice, that said it is no problem for quick hops around town or a fun ride in the country. Another difference is the travel of the shocks and the size of the wheels/tires....scooters do not have the shock travel compared to that a typical motorcycle, plus the wheel size being a good bit smaller than motorcycles makes for a pretty hard ride, bumpy roads can really slam you and your back. (speaking of which, did the new seat help that problem or hurt it) Pluses of this scooter.....I love the storage under the seat, the windshield flows the wind just above my head perfectly and the leg/feet shield of the scooter is crazy good in cooler weather or a little rain. This thing revs really high and has unbelievable pickup, even at 55 mph for and engine with the cc's less than my lawn mower!! Thanks Bernie for the video.....I don't know how you u tubers find the time to do this stuff, I would go nuts trying to set up different camera angles etc. very helpful to us who don't want to do it though!!!
Hey Berry, Thanks!! The rack, as you observed is Shad brand. It was on the scooter when I bought it and seems very well made. I believe they list it for some years of S-Max but not others. I'm not sure what, if any, difference there is from year to year. It's possible the one on my scooter is the only one they make, and is listed as fitting other years but not mine. I have a couple different trunks I switch between, both are Givi. I believe they are 47 liters. These scooters are definitely built for smaller people. I am 5'6" and fit good but can tell I'm on the larger side of someone who can comfortably fit. Scooters definitely ride different than motorcycles. I enjoy both and just adjust my riding style as needed. The seat was an awesome upgrade and I'm very happy with it, but if I was just riding around town there is no way I could have justified the cost. The factory seat didn't cause and discomfort, but it was more fatiguing with long rides than the Corbin seat. Thanks for watching!!
@@bennieaust Bennie, thanks for the info and getting back to me so soon, I will check out Shad again and see if they offer anything. By the way....neither one of us are great on name observation....you spelled my name wrong once, but I was worse by calling you Bernie twice!!! You know a thought on size of these bikes.....they are designed by Asians and heavily marketed and used in Asian countries, why would they design a product that is uncomfortable or too large for their targeted customer.....over here seeing a scooter is a little odd, over there they are everywhere and used a main source of transportation.
@@barryjeter You're welcome! Maybe we should both just stick to "hay buddy" haha I agree, the Asian market is generally smaller people, but far more scooters. It just might not be worth reworking all the smaller scooters for the much smaller US market. I think scooters are super useful and hugely fun, but I'm in the minority.
