- The Hyundai Sonata featured in this video is a 2016 2.4, transmission code A6MF2. This procedure should be the same for all Sonata & Optima models with the A6MF2 transmission 2010-2018. Although this video doesn't cover a "pan drop" and filter change, here is a link to the filter and pan gasket if you decide to do that service as well: amzn.to/3xFpoEG.
Drain bolt torque: 32ft-lbs
trans temp: 122F-140F

or
1 quart Genuine Hyundai SP4 Transmission Fluid: amzn.to/3tORxHt
funnel: amzn.to/3F57kV6
These are both the same scanner but I use the Zurich in this video:

You also need to have the vehicle set to neutral very important
Well done video. Gives me hope we can do this on my kids Kia
Thanks! It’s a simple process. Filling it is annoyingly slow and can be messy.
"Recommended for" does NOT mean "approved for."
Great video interested.
@@CalkoLouie thanks!
actually you want to drive 50 to 100 miles and repeat the process so that you get all the old fluid changed as a drain and refill does not get the fluid out of the torque converter. You want to do this especially since the first fluid change went 40K miles over
I agree, with going so far over this should be done again. If done on schedule there’s no need to do anything beyond the recommended procedure.
Anyone know the Hyundai specific PID for trans temperature? I've got many live data elements feeding from the admittedly cheap ELM 327 OBD dongle , viewing through the torque pro Android app, and it shows a transmission temperature data element , but it's greyed out not active and I can't put a gauge on it
Where can i find the wrench extension what it called
here is a set like the one I used in the video: amzn.to/4fIPl8a
If you measure the amount you remove and then add that much back in, is it still necessary to get the transmission oil up to 122 and check the level? I don't have a scanner. Thank you.
If you know for certain it is currently at the correct level then that would work if you don’t know for certain it is at the correct level right now then I wouldn’t recommend it.
@bennieAust so you can drain and fill for this car like a manual car?
You can do it just like it’s covered in the video.
Bernie -- Great information -- I am wanting to change the trans fluid on my 2019 Elantra SE with the 6 speed automatic that has 55K original miles and as far as I know the fluid has not been changed, but ... OK so there is ACTUALLY TWO (2) Fill plugs that I see people using! One is under the Air Box (after removal) and this plastic plug is actually the "VENT" for the transmission CORRECT? The factory "FILL HOLE" is towards the rear and a metal 24MM plug like the 24MM metal drain plug -- CORRECT? Does the Manufacturer (or dealer) use the VENT PLUG or the METAL FILL PLUG Location to add fluid? That is my question!
@@retiredperson4054, that’s actually new to me! I was unaware of a second plug. I’m sure that would make filling easier because venting is always the issue when filling like I show in the video. I’ll look for the second plug next time I service one. Thanks!
This video shows where the TOP fill plug is...ruclips.net/video/_97lxabcjoA/видео.html

Please clarify; when performing the final level check with the engine running, is the shifter supposed to be in Neutral or Park, or does it even matter?
I have heard that “it should be in neutral or park” I have also heard “it should be in neutral”. I think you can’t go wrong with neutral.
People who don’t trust Valvoline make me suspicious lmao
Do you need the scanner?
Not if you have another way to see transmission temp.
how many liters?
1 gallon total. I’m not sure how many liters that is.
3.78 Liters.
So if you have this model and year just add 5 quarts....
I would only recommend following the correct procedure. There are always lots of comments from people who want to take shortcuts. To me, it’s not worth the risk of doing it wrong. It’s just so easy to do correctly.
