In my early 20's I was a franchise McDonald's manager for years. I'm not exaggerating...I ended up in therapy. I seriously discourage anyone from working in fast food if you can help it. I understand not everyone has a choice but it should be your last choice. I was so fucking stressed out, I couldn't see or think straight. Most management in fast food places hate their lives and have these weird superiority complexes. The entry-level employees were usually good people just trying to earn a living but my fellow managers were just crap humans that took everything out on those below them. The job itself is too damn stressful, especially for the pay. I eventually became a stay-at-home mom for a while but now I'm a part-time bar tender just to get out of the house. You'd think this job would be worse but it's a piece of cake compared to McDonald's, on top of making 3-4 times as much money. Fast food, mainly the management, is just a cesspool of human trash. I'd literally rather be homeless than work there again. These corporations don't give 2 fucks about their employees or the employees of franchise operators. As long as they're getting their slice of the money they're good with whatever is happening. I'm glad that people are suing the corporations. They need to take responsibility too. You don't get to just sit there and collect profit while the workers making you that money are being used and abused. That's disgusting.

Now it makes me think why my 15 year old niece only worked a week at McDonald’s and quit without telling her parents. We were all disappointed at the time but to my niece’s credit she had another job within a week. She continues to work hard around her schooling. I know her older sister did quit her first job, serving elderly in a retirement setting because of a pervert in the kitchen constantly touching and patting the girls. Were much better than some places like India where the women will be blamed for having this happen to her and usually cant get much done. This is so what women in low wage jobs deal with and no one prepares you for it. I had mild sexual harassment at MCDONALDS but subway was my guest experience with hardcore harassment. I was 18 and after I had to hit the nephew of the owner with a box of cold cut combo to eascpe a walk in fridge, I transferred to another store. Except it was worse there. I am technically still employed by mcdonald’s but am looking for a job elsewhere. My experience is that even if there is no explicit harassment like touching and grabbing, the adult managers will still do things to an often underage girl that are not appropriate. The main manager of my workplace not only hires 50% skinny teenage girls but gets uncomfortably close physically and uncomfortably intimate with what he says. He sometimes portrays himself as more than just a manager to them. The vast majority also work up front, where they get oogled and sometimes hit on by male customers. Its a disgusting culture, no one intervenes and the girls themselves only smile and play along because it puts their job at risk if they do anything otherwise, but everyone knows it happens.
I honestly would not be surprised if this type of stuff happens anywhere and everywhere, much more often than we’ll ever know, but it just hasn’t been said out loud yet.

Wow! But this stuff happens all the time in retail. When I worked in a clothing store in 12th grade, a supervisor slapped my butt. When I objected, he made fun of my physical appearance, as I used to be overweight. He told me that because I was “fat,” that I should be grateful to have any man showing attention to me, as I wasn’t attractive enough to have a man want me.
I was crushed by that, as I was just 17 years old. I never told anyone. He resigned eventually, for unrelated reasons. About ten years later, I found out that he was involved in some sort or check/coupon schemes at some other retail establishments. He eventually plead guilty to a 35 year sentence, in order to keep from having to serve a sentence of more than 100 years. I feel like justice was served.

If the harassment persists, file a charge with the EEOC. You have within 180 or 300 days to file a charge. This is hard to even listen to these young girls talking about this. When I was a young kid, working in co-Ed environments, I was already being desensitized to what was essentially sexual harassment. Even as a boy, 16 years old, some of the adult women workers did inappropriately sexual things towards me. Of course since I was a normal boy, I was just flattered and excited about it.

I had to tell my story before finishing this video. Almost all of 2020 I worked at a McDonald’s in Tomball, TX. On Halloween I found about a relationship between a man in his late 40s and a HS senior. I complained and complained. I even almost got into a fight with the guy. I finally went to the police who told me in TX 17 is the age of consent. I still didn’t care because I’m sure this guy didn’t know that. Nobody would listen to me. Not the managers not the other coworkers nobody. The weird this was their attitude was as long as it’s not happening to me I don’t care. There was a lot of victim blaming asking why she spread her legs. I would be shocked saying she’s a kid! This is an adult he shouldn’t be messing with a HS girl. I would also say as adults we should be protecting her. Nobody cared. I eventually heard he caused another HS girl to quit because he kept trying to kiss her. I would say have any of you seen a sexual harassment video?! This is a pattern of behavior. I was told I’m making too much noise and this is just the way men from Latin America act. The HS girl quit because she couldn’t understand that. So i messaged the owner on FB (it wasn’t a corporate store) and told her if I was a parent and found out you kept a guy with a pattern of harassment on you would be in trouble. Soon after that he was fired. I’m not sure if it was because of my message or what. When he was fired other coworkers would whisper about me and I couldn’t believe how almost all the employees were siding with this guy. I quit soon after because I wasn’t getting any support for anyone in there. Don’t let your kids work at McDonald’s. I hope all of these ladies find peace in life. I’m sorry this happened but I’m sure it’s going on at a bunch of McDonalds across America.
