  • Here we are presenting our detailed long term review of the YT Izzo. I had so much fun riding this bike as it is much "smaller" than I am used to. This bike has pushed me to log more miles and have fun doing it.

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  3 года назад +1

      Awesome, glad we can be helpful. PF BB has always been something I have avoided. My first PF was on a '18 Spectral and it creaked a bit. The Izzo and Meta bikes we recently reviewed all have PF bb. So far they have been silent. I do prefer threaded and I think most do for the ease of maintenance. PF helps keep frame cost down I believe. Thanks for watching!

    Great review and great looking bike! I'd also like to see a shorter stem and an alternative to the grip-shift lock out. You briefly suggest that YT may be going back to the drawing board to look at one or more of those suggestions. I hope you are correct because I'm seriously considering the Izzo for this coming Spring. Out of curiosity, were you speculating or has YT suggested they might address some of those concerns? Thanks!

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  3 года назад +1

      Shorter stem, wider bars, and better lockout would be awesome. Considering all the reviews regarding these 3 things makes me think YT may change them but it's just speculation. Otherwise not much to complain about

  • @sinetwo

    I have this bike and I love this review. My only changes are goi g to be tyres (the stock ones do not grip at all, they feel really slippery and often spin on steep climbs) and the lockout which I'll swap for a lever

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  2 года назад

      The stock tires tore on my fist ride. They are fast rolling but thin. Swapping to something with more grip really helps this bike live up to it's potential.

      I really like the Koda. Only thing is that it only comes in 142 or 150mm width

  • @DaBinChe
    @DaBinChe 2 года назад +1

    bar width depends on sweep angle and shoulder width. So if wide shoulder wider bars with less sweep. If narrower shoulder wide bars needs more sweep. I'm a small guy 5'7" 135# so the 780mm with 9* sweep is not ergonomic for me, puts too much strain on my carpal tunnel wrist. Cut down to 740mm and feels much better on the wrist. Yeah I have less leverage but this is a short travel bike so pick your lines instead of plow thru.

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  2 года назад

      I normally run 780-800mm and found the stock 760mm bars narrow. That could be due to what I'm used to but did notice the Izzo more twichy than I'm used to. The Spur came spec'd with 780mm and i felt that a great fit for that bike on size large.....and it had 10mm less travel. With any bike I believe bars should be one area where width is considered across sizes. 780mm is a better fit on l-xl than it is on a small. Great bike either way. Thanks for watching.

    Hello Straight Line MTB from Greece! Awesome review and riding skills! :)
    I own an Izzo Core 3 and i am not a big fan of sram g2 brakes either. They are not powerful enough for my riding style and i decided to change them. I am fun of shimano's, but i am interesting in magura mt trail sports also. I never use them before (magura mt trail sports) so i would like to ask you, do you feel they stop better than the srams g2 even they are 2 pistons at the back? Is it worth the change? Did you change the disc brakes rotors also? Do you know if is it compatible with the stock rotors or i have to change them too? I am looking forward for your answer! Thank you in advance!

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  Год назад +1

      I am a big fan of Magura brakes and have ridden many pairs without issues. I think the MT Trail Sport would be a great fit for the Izzo if you are finding the G2 brakes lacking. The Trail Sports will be a big improvement over the G2. The stock rotors will be fine with the Maguras, although I found the Storm HC rotors provide a bit more power over the Sram but I think you will have all you need with just the new brakes.

    How tall are you (cm) and which size did you take? What do you think... considering to change to shorter stem.... should this effect to decision about the frame size? I'm 177 cm (YT suggest M or L) . and I'm thinking to buy L size and put 40mm stem... What do you think about this?...

    • @StraightLine_MTB
      @StraightLine_MTB  3 года назад +1

      I'm 180cm and went with large and 50mm stem I think the TR's sizing felt spot on for me. Shortening the stem could improve fit if on the shorter end of sizing but you could get some more playfulness if able to go down a size.

    • @shaun1900
      @shaun1900 3 года назад +1

      I'm 177cm and have the Izzo Pro. It's definitely a long bike but you soon settle into it. My only observation is that it places more strain on the lower back as opposed to carrying more weight on a shorter / smaller bike through the arms and shoulders.
      It is a revelation though and having a bit more room to move within the frame is awesome.

    • @StraightLine_MTB

      Depending on what you want to do. I've seen riders do more on a hardtail than I'd attempt on an enduro bike. The Izzo a great bike that can handle a lot for 130mm. Like any bike it has it's compromises if riding out of category. For most of my local trails it's great. For the bigger trails you expect to hold back and pick your lines better but you'll have more energy you save on the climbs.
