    Hey, about the rear axle lever, it should be the standard DT swiss lever, so just pull it towards you and you can rotate it freely and position the lever where you prefer, usually pointing backwards so you don't hit it with your foot!: )

    Really nice review. I really like this genre of bike and see it as the future or at least one the bike companies push for . I like how you mentioned the stack Hight being short as this is often mentioned and being a rider that likes a taller stack this was a issue when I was searching for my next bike. Also the crank length. I too am finding my 175’s are getting bashed on climbs and had to change technique which is ok. You also bought up a really interesting topic on bar sizing for XXL bikes. I’ve always wondered this exact same thing and believe spec should be fitted to the size of the frame / rider. All in all I really like this kind of bike and it really suits you. The reason I didn’t go this style was I knew I would just try to beef it up to do bigger trails . A mate just got a Capra this week and it’s stunning. Amazing build quality and attention to detail . Hope you have many years of fun with the izzo

    Good review! [The good info is at the end so stay tuned for it]. I've owned my XL for about the same time and agree with what you said. My TwistLoc is still working fine but it's only a matter of time until it gets changed (for new grips if nothing else). I also really don't like the 175 mm cranks. That's actually a big bummer because they are carbon XO1 and hugely expensive to replace. I've owned lighter and better climbing bikes and bigger and bad-er bikes, but the Izzo really hits a sweet "trail bike" spot. Lovely.

      @asolthane I considered trying that but decided to try to get used to 175 mm again (ran them for decades but have had 170 on my last two bikes). I'm sure they are worth something, but at least in my group of friends, no one is looking for long cranks. Seems like that's an old school thing like 68 degree head angles and 73 degree seat angles.

      I am considering an IZZO - but wondering about sizing.. I am 6'1 with a 33 inseam and a bit of a long torso. I have traditionally ridden size large. Modern geometry has changed a bit I guess, and am wondering what your measurements are in comparison for the XL? I usually prefer a bit smaller rather than large and unwieldy. Thanks!

      @@i2ambler2002 We are very similar in size. You can fit on either bike. I chose XL knowing it would feel big in tight switchbacks but stable going down (it does). If I sized down I've gained a bit of one and lost a bit of the other. It's always annoying to have to make that choice when you're in-between but look at it as an advantage since you can choose and get the bike that fits your intended use and desire. Great video, and thanks for taking the time time to make it :)
    My Izzo comp is due the first week in September and cant wait until its here, and was really happy to see some reviews from an owner. I find them more relevant, and a bit more honest than the tests from inside the bike industry. Also, cheers for the heads up on the shock remote issue, I will probably get something off amazon before it arrives; just in case.
    Sucks about YT not responding though. I heard they are usually pretty good with that sort of thing, so hopefully its down to covid and they can sort you out asap. Tbh I was thinking of ditching the twist grip remote when it arrived anyway, as I would prefer to fit some full size ODI's . What do you prefer, assuming that the twist lock was issue free... the twist remote, or lever?
    Thanks again, appreciate the hard work and the content :)

    • @lost_in_the_woods
      @lost_in_the_woods  4 года назад +1

      I think I prefer the lever to be honest, it lets me run my own choice of grips. I wish there was some higher end choices for a low profile/ small lockout lever, but not many companies seem to be making one - or if they do, they to take up a lot of bar space. Luckily this cheapo one from amazon seems to do the job just fine and doesn't take up all that much space.

    • @LeeSemple
      @LeeSemple 4 года назад

      @@lost_in_the_woods Yep, agreed. I was thinking about solving it by replacing both remotes. Remove the dropper lever and use a remote-bar-centric from wolf-tooth as a replacement, and then fitting the under bar fox 2 position remote for the shock.
      If you check out the images for the ReMote BarCentric on wolf tooth's site you will get the idea. It doesn't look too bad, and worth considering, if a bit expensive. I like how it wraps around the bar to stay neat, just not sure how functional it is. Also not sure how good the fox 2 position remote is, but its half the price of the twist.

    • @lost_in_the_woods
      @lost_in_the_woods  4 года назад

      @@LeeSemple That looks like it would be a really good option too. Excellent honest review, the gripes are small apart from the lockout lever which is a shame. But looks like you have a decent fix there. I'm north of England based and the Izzo just sounds perfect. My only concern is a 130 fork, I run a 140 on my hardtail at the moment and sometimes wish I had a little more. I'm sure if it's handling BC trails it will smash UK stuff. The weight / capability balance is something I've been looking for in a bike for a long time. I tend to ride all day 6-7 hrs and a heavy full sus becomes a real ball ache. From your review this sounds like an all day beast. Is there any other bike that you would consider over the Izzo. Ripley, SB130 Etc.

I agree 175mm cranks make it less versatile but they wanted to make this bike the faster on trails guess. it is an expensive part to change, not sure it worth it. Had the Transition Spur been out when I ordered this bike I might've had a hard time picking between the two, but the value you get with the Spur is obviously much worse than with YT. None of the cons are really deal breakers to me, so overall I wouldn't say that I regret with my choice. I've got a question. I've been looking at an IZZO for a few weeks now, I like YT and the great value for the cost that you get with these bikes. The design of the IZZO I think makes a lot of sense for me in that I'm from the midwest where we don't really have much technical downhill trails. My question is about the different models of the IZZO. I'm pretty new to mountain biking, but I really want to get better and to have a good experience with my bike in the sport. My budget can accommodate the IZZO Pro Race, but is it worth it as a beginner? My worry about the Comp is that I have it for several months and end up wanting a higher end bike or to upgrade all my components ultimately spending even more than getting the Pro Race off the bat would cost. Are the components in the comp likely good enough to keep me satisfied long enough for it to make sense purchasing that over the Pro Race?

    • @lost_in_the_woods
      @lost_in_the_woods  4 года назад +4

      I'd say get the comp. The parts are still very nice, and as a newer rider it's quite possible you wouldn't even notice a lot of the more subtle (but expensive) differences in spec between the models anyways - your mind will be focused on other things. When you've progressed enough to learn what you really like and dislike in a mountain bike you can use the money you saved to customize your Izzo to be a perfect fit for your preferences, and have a completely unique bike to boot.

      I'm not familiar with the riding around Asheville, but I do understand your concern. I'd talk to the experienced riders in your area and see what sorts bikes they're using, then base your choice off of that. My philosophy on suspension travel is to get as little as I can while still having a bike that will excel on the trails I ride the most, that way I'm not lugging around a lot of extra weight and suspension on the majority of my rides. The compromise there is maybe I'll have to go a bit slower or be more careful with my line choices if I go to an area with gnarlier than normal trails, but personally I think that's worth the trade off.

      The bike comes with 2.35 Maxxis Forecasters, I was thinking about trying a 2.3 Maxxis DHF for the front and a 2.3 Maxxis Dissector in the rear when the weather turns wet again.

    Hey just wondering if your changed the remote lockout or did you have a bike shop do it. I have my bike at a shop and they are struggling with the shock, if could you lend some information that would be great

    • @lost_in_the_woods
      @lost_in_the_woods  3 года назад

      I did it myself - found it pretty simple honestly, so I'm not sure what the bike shop would be having problems with. The shock is locked out by default, maybe that's throwing them off? I just pulled the cable out of the housing and then threaded a new one through, looped it around the lockout switch and set the pinch bolt then trimmed the cable & put a cap on the end.

    • @lost_in_the_woods

      I had to replace the wire too. I probably could have re used the old one, but it frayed when I was removing it. I was able to use the same cable housing though so it was easy, just pushed the cable through and it popped out the other end.
