    Had my 2nd gen ego for two seasons with no problems. Then again, I have watched videos and fortunately have enough room that I don't have to fold up the handle whenever I put it away. If it quit working next year and I couldn't fix it I would by another new one. Even at that point it would be less than half what I used to pay someone to mow the lawn for two years. I will never go back to a gas (oil, filter, spark plug, noise, stink and hope that it will start in the Spring) mower.

    • @countryhandyman1064

      I was probably unlucky. I am most displeased with the fact that I might have gotten a bad mower and the company won’t do anything because I don’t own a piece of paper. Do you and your neighbor fold it up a lot. I’m wondering if a lot of the users leave it all folded out. That way the wires are not flexing a ton and not causing shorts.

    Hi: I have had the LM2000P EGO mower for 6 years, and later got an LM2102SP EGO mower4 years ago Both have provided excellent service. Even the 5AH and 7.5AH batteries I got with the two machines are still in top shape ( knock on wood 🙂). In your comments section Mr. Shisong Chen’s video has been referenced. His video
    ruclips.net/video/TEZgGmjFNqg/видео.html is a fast repair procedure If you have a broken pin on the connector. If your case is different, then try the continuity testing function of a digital multimeter.
    There are 3 bunches of wire (EGO calls them harnesses) coming down from the handle to the “Service Compartment” (that is the compartment opened around the 4 mins mark. 3 wires from the speed control, red-black-green, are obviously good, so are the two wires connected to the microswitch actuated by the SP lever on the handle. That means First check continuity on the wires of the “Safety Switch” ( Start Switch) on the handle to the Service Compartment ( a likely source of your trouble). Finally there are wires coming down from the microswitch in the middle of the extended handle, which senses the full extension of the handle. The EGO design weakness is that the wire harnesses get pinched, because of the foldability of the mower (Important reason I bought the mowers). If you never fold the mower, you will never face the problems mentioned. When you identify the broken wire replace it with a good multi strand wire of the same size. Good luck.
    PS: EGO has two motors in the mower. One is the Self-propel SP small motor, which as shown in your video works. Then there is the large electric motor which turns the mowing blade. Give EGO credit for avoiding belts.
    PS2: I wish you had posted or can post your one hour long video. It will be instructive for many EGO owners.

    ust thought I'd share: (LM2130SP, purchased Feb2021): No issues in 2021...in 2022 it simply cuts off while cutting. It appears to run for approx. 20 minutes then it shuts off and won't restart (Battery goes through 1 to 2 led indicator lights). But it will restart after some rest time: 15 minute rest, it will run for about 2 min. 45 minute rest, it will run for 10 minutes or so. Mind you I only took note of these types of times just once before taking it in. And I'm not cutting through overgrown grass here, I'm bagging very little clippings, probably even shorter than the 1/3 rule this time of year. The underdeck is clean, nothing there. Did this to me on 3 separate consecutive occasions this season (Mar/Apr 2022). It's not the battery, as I have swapped batteries and both work fine in the second piece of equipment (string trimmer). Also, nothing appears to be hot as for as I can tell and nothing out of the ordinary happens before or after, it just shuts off. I called EGO and they referred to me to their authorized warranty center (an hour away). I turned it in on 20 Apr and explained what it was doing to me. I called them today (27Apr) and they can't seem to replicate my issue. Which I was afraid of. The associate I spoke with said they went through several batteries and been going back and forth with EGO regarding my issue. But if they can't replicate what's happening with me not sure what else can be done. I guess, they are talking with EGO to see if any other customers are having similar issues this this lawnmower.

    • @nedarndt1042
      @nedarndt1042 2 года назад

      I have had exactly the same problem as John. Took it to authorized dealer and they also could not replicate. Said they didn't run it with a load though. Doesn't matter. Can't trust it to cut a small lawn without quitting. Then I have to give it time to cool off so I can finish the lawn. Apparently motor overheating, not the battery. Ugh!

      @@countryhandyman1064 fair enough, but I have a small flat lawn and this thing has been great for years. No gas, oil, no anything but bag changes and battery charges.
      I don’t doubt that a more challenging lawn would wear it out quickly. I also don’t ever fold the handle or leave it outside in the rain.
      I would say if treated nicely it does just what I needed- it fired the gas mower.

      The $319 price is misleading. It does not include the fast charger and battery, which is a 2.5AH, 80V battery. A minimally equipped Atlas Lawnmower will cost around $550+ Tax. The Self-propelled EGO COMES WITH 7.5 AH battery ( 56 V).

    If you look at the electronics on a toro gas mower it’s just as bad. I wanted a new gas mower but will not buy any under 6hp. I only found ONE over 5hp for sale locally. I was going to get a toro super cycler with 190cc but they stupidly have a Battery pack for electric start. Electric starter motor to burn out after a few hundred starts. I just want a pull cord. Instead all decent mowers have stupid transmissions and stupid blade stop and battery electric start. At least ego put safety first. I would rather have a mower not run than one that doesn’t stop.

    Cheap plastic throwaway crap is all people buy these days. Oil is $5. A pull cord: maybe $4. Blades: $12-$40. You must have an air filter to protect the rings in the engine. People who complain about maintenance on a gas engine are lazy and obviously loaded.
