    Thank you for demonstrating the reverse function. I am graduating from a 25 year old rider to the XT1 LT42 and I am finding out there is a learning curve. This video was extremely helpful with your demonstration and comments. Thank You!

    I appreciate the way you explain your work you do on the equipment. I agree on this mower and it's mowing in reverse. I had a 2004 Craftsman that didn't have the backup situation. The engine blew so had to replace it, now I have to push a button anytime I cut in reverse. Keep doing your videos.

    Thank you for the video. I just purchased this mower on sale at a Home Depot for 1200 bucks. They said it was a display modell and that something was wrong with it at one time. It had a problem with a seat sensor, so I was told. I had to jump start it at the store and it turned right on. Im at work and it arrives home some time today. Watching your video to kearn hiw to operate the cub properly. Thank you

    Hello Brad, I hope you're having a great day. Thanks for the video on the LT42B I just bought one last year, it seems like a great mower, this is my first riding mower, I had to get it for health reasons, I had a bout with Afib while cutting my grass mid-season last year using a self-propelled walk behind mower.
    I was only able to use the Cub Cadet a few times before Winter hit here in Southeast lower Michigan, however, I'm looking forward to a full season of cutting this year. Your video was very concise, and I appreciate that. I learned a few things about this mower from your video that I was not aware of. I did purchase and install the mulching kit; it was fairly easy to do. I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to help inform those of us who need a little guidance on occasion. Have a Blessed day Sir. Dan

    One thing i notice right off the bat is that the engines top cover is easily removed as opposed to the kohler. I like the 3 gallon fuel tank,but it sticks out just a little to close on those kohler engines. Part of maintenance is to remove the cover and ckean around the cooling fins.

    Nice video, do you have a video on the Craftsman YT 3000 or YT4000 steering issues when the tow out makes the machine very hard to turn. I know there is aftermarket parts to adjust the tow, but I thought you might have something on it. Thanks

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  11 месяцев назад +1

      I do not. When I have one come in with tow out, I heat up the axle at the L with a torch and bend it until it toes in correctly. I sometimes need to heat up both side to correctly perform the job. It’s much easier to correct that issue then replacing parts.

    Helllo. Been looking at this unit and I like what i have been seeing. That being said, is there any reason to go for the XT2 in the same size with the twin cylinder Kohler engine. Of course there are some other updates in 2024 over the XT1 such as bearings in the front wheels and some other features.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  3 месяца назад

      I personally have found the Kohler twin 7000 series engine has been holding up good if taken care of and I highly recommend if you can afford to get the bigger twin cylinder engine you will be much happier. The extra power it has is a big upgrade! If you’re saying they went to real bearings in the front wheels, that is good to hear.

    Good video. I just bought one of these and it came with no hour meter. I found and ordered the meter, but I'd love a video on how to install it and I can't find any for this model, all the videos are for zero-turn mowers. Any chance you can do one for the XT1?

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  2 месяца назад

      I have never installed a new hour meter on a machine that did not have one. Here is a video that may help you get to where you need to install it. They may be very close on how the XT1 and XT2 are put together. ruclips.net/video/mbr2jW9XgEk/видео.html

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  3 месяца назад +1

      I do not have a video on just installing new blades but I do have a video on how to remove the mower deck and re-install it. Once the mower deck is off you will be able to remove and install the blades. I can say there are many who will try to perform the task without removing the mower deck and in my opinion, it is very hard to do, dangerous and a god chance you will not install them correctly. Here is the video on how to remove and install the mower deck. ruclips.net/video/OHx381Hx_8M/видео.html

    Regarding the key position, is there an advantage to using the forward mode key position? Why not just always run it in reverse mode and why even have the option for forward mode?

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  Месяц назад +1

      I have had comments after I said the same thing on another "how to operate" about leaving the key in the position so you can back up all day long. Some say the it has a timer on it so it will eventually not work and you will need to reset it. I'm not sure how long that is.

      That is a very hard question that I cannot answer correctly. To many variables. What is your terrain? how do you treat your equipment? what is a decent price? I would say the cub cadet XT1 in this video would be be a good choice. I’m not impressed with the new S blades though. They are pricey, and CubCadet has the market at the moment, because there is no aftermarket blades that I’m aware of at the moment. The John Deere S240 ruclips.net/video/nGdnt44a6Xg/видео.html. with the Kawasaki engine would be my pick if you could afford it and you have accessibility to a John Deere dealership?

  • @stevenf1953
    @stevenf1953 11 месяцев назад

    ON my mower if you turn the blades off and put the mower in park, after taking it out of park. you will have to turn the key to run, then back to reverse and push the button, to go in reverse with the blades on. I'll almost bet you have to do it on that new one.

    I don't think I'll buy another Cub Cadet. Mainly they are too expensive, the parts too. I am hoping that will be for a long while yet. Mine is only 8 years old but, It is difficult to get parts for it around here. And it seems Cub cadet doesn't have parts for older mowers. I am not one to use the web to buy stuff off of yet. It is not something I trust. Great video, as always. Thank you for showing it.

      @@JohnsonsSmallEngines Thanks I am trying. LOL I hope to get a few more years out of this one. The first mower I had was a Murry with a briggs motor.Had it about 15 years. The next one was a Sears with I think a briggs motor. Had it about 10 years. Both just got slower and slower. I think both were trans or hydro trans that made them get slower. This one has a Kohler motor. You don;t like. I would appreciate you telling me why so I can maybe fix trouble before it gets bad. I have no trouble now. Have a great day!

      @@stevenf1953I have a 2013 cub cadet ltx1040 which is the earlier version of this mower. The kohler hes talking about ( I think) is the kohler courage like mine has. On these motors they were infamous for the pan bolts backing out and getting smacked by the flywheel which often cracked the block. They also have alot of valve cover leaking problems. I was in meed of a new carburetor last summer and my cub dealer informed me it was no longer available. He did give me the oem part number so I could find a china made replacement. Got a new carb,filter,spark plug,and air filter for $25. So far it's working ok. Mine has 300 hours on it and still runs good. I pull the top cover frequently to check that all my pan bolts are good and tight. My biggest gripes about cub cadets are the steering pinion gears and the pto cable arrangement. They arent bad machines,but if I had it to do over I'd spend a little more and get a small john deere

    Husqvarna TS-142K 20HP or Cub Cadet XT1 LT42B?? Which one is better?

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  8 месяцев назад

      In my opinion, If the Husqvarna has a twin cylinder 20 hp Kohler 7000 series engine, I would prefer the Husqvarna. Two reasons. (1)The twin engine will be better than the Briggs single cylinder engine on the Cub Cadet. (2) If the Husqvarna comes with regular blades, normal star shape which I will assume they did not change. The new Cub Cadet version, the S shape are very expensive.
