    I bought a 2018 Cub XT1 in 2021 at a chain store that sells tractor supplies. (RUclips will not let me mention the name for some reason.) It had sat at the store for two years, dead battery, no gas, never started. I asked them to start it for me and they were scrambling around trying. The manager came out and I offered him a ridiculously low cash price, as is. I expected a counter offer, but he instantly took it, saying "I need this gone. We sell very few of these, but they keep sending more new ones."
    Love it, mine has the Kohler 5400. Took a little TLC from bad assembly but it still runs like new. I like the black wheels instead of the white. Home Depot used to sell a much better bumper for about $10 less.

      I wish my husband had took his back. He also bought from a smaller retailer this past summer 2023. He has passed away now but he had nothing but problems with it. They gave him another battery but apparently it was bad too. Now I have a supposedly new mower that will not start. I am an old lady who can drive a lawn mower but know nothing about them mechanically. 😢

    I'm trying to decide which one to purchase in the near future. The LT42B with the single cylinder Briggs or the LT46 with the Kohler 7000 series 22 HP twin. For not much more, I would think the LT46 would be better, but I will make that decision later on.

      I’ll tell you what, I wouldn’t ever buy a lawn mower from HD, or any store that keeps the mowers out front in the weather already assembled. It literally says on the manual that rain water will damage it. You should seek help from the store, as that’s on them. I only bought my mower through home depot, but it was online and a model not sold at the local store. It shipped direct from the Cub cadet factory, not home depot. It has been incredibly reliable. You should also contact Cub cadet, as it has a warranty. What model Cub is it?

    I bought mine from a dealer as opposed to a big box store. I always thought it was just a rumor that lawn tractors from Cub and Deere were the same construction quality regardless of where you buy them from. I was wrong. My good friend is an over the road driver that delivers cubs. He took a factory tour and indeed their are assembly lines strictly for construction on big box store models. They are made from a lower grade material in a lot of areas. Why? To keep the price down by 200 to 300. I just went with my local dealer. Coulda saved 150 at the box store but I'll take higher quality components and service over the slightly lower price.

    • @adventureawaits4022
      @adventureawaits4022  6 месяцев назад

      The price is the same wether bought through a dealer or big box store. Same model number, etc. They may have specials at times, but it’s shipping direct from the CD factory. Sometimes free shipping can be a difference. Who you buy it through is only the middle man from the factory. Not sure I believe what you are saying, but to each their own.

    • @kevinc6763
      @kevinc6763 6 месяцев назад

      @adventureawaits4022 respectfully disagree. Deere for instance has internal model #s unique to box stores. Try to find the sku for Deere BG20444 at a dealer. You won't. Because this model is specifically for the big box store under certain manufacturing specs. I.e. less expensive components. You'll find its counterpart model at dealers with less plastic and thicker steel decks. It is what it is. Will a box store model fail? Not always, but it is made with components of lesser quality.

    • @adventureawaits4022
      @adventureawaits4022  6 месяцев назад

      @@kevinc6763 I can’t speak for JD, but could imagine that could be the case due to the large range in products they sell from consumer level to commercial farmer. For CC, I see no difference in the model I have and the same at the local dealer. The one I have isn’t available at Home Depot in person, only available through online purchase and it came direct from Cub, but Home Depot.

    • @kevinc6763
      @kevinc6763 6 месяцев назад +1

      @adventureawaits4022 correct. It's a game. Externally the model numbers and specs are the same. Internally they are not. You cannot buy the Home Depot version of the identical model number at my dealership. While the consumer believes they are getting the identical dealer product based on model number and specs, they simply aren't. Is it a massive difference? Is it doomed to fail? Not necessarily. It's just different and produced with lower components. I do not doubt for a sec your's came right from CC. But, when they process an order from HD, those HD models are passed onto the consumer, and not the same model a dealer would buy. That's all I'm saying.

    • @dlaw929
      @dlaw929 4 месяца назад +1

      There's a video from another guy who says they are the same at the bid box stores and independents. He said otherwise they would have to have different part number for replacement parts. Make sense to me. The assembly line is probably because big box stores sell higher volumes.

    • @adventureawaits4022
      @adventureawaits4022  4 месяца назад

      Yes, I’ve done it. From what I read, changing the oil filter isn’t necessary on the break in change. Only on the next cycle. I bought the synthetic Briggs & Stratton oil off Amazon. Be careful, it’s easy to overfill. Draining was very easy as well.
