    Don't know if you still see the comments, but wanted to let you know that this video saved A LOT of frustration. I had the same problem with my Cub Cadet. Same model and everything. I don't work on engines other than basic maintenance, but this video helped me overcome my fear of carburetors/cleaning them out. Now my lawnmower is running Great again. Thanks for taking the time to make this video and all your knowledge and willingness to help us all out.

    For a Quick assessment of a engine , I use Prime for a Good Time . If the engine does not start when cranking , I spray some carb cleaner into the carb then try to crank , usually it will run for a few seconds on the prime . This checks , compression , mechanical timing , Ignition timing ,ignition function . All in 10 seconds .If there is no start then start with the separate system tests . You can use any priming fuel you like . This works for any type of engine two or four stroke . Just trying to save you some time .

Only real issue i've had with both of them is the oil drain valve leaking and all i did to fix that was put some thread sealant tape on them and haven't had any leaks since then. Looked like the fuel in tank had water in it but it could just be me

    My neighbor's Cub Cadet XT riding mower has been in my shoo about 5 times in 2 years for problems. The reliability of this mower is in question in my opinion.
    How long have you had your lift and do you like it? Looking for one just like the one you have. Is it free floating or bolted to concrete?

    • @doublewide6

      The lift is the Handy SAM lift. On wheels and removable. lifts 1500lbs, and comes delivered. I like the 39" total height for working as a workbench. Yes well worth the money if you work on equipment all the time.

    My Cadet was doing the same thing. After changing air filter, and the fuel filter. It would run for a few minutes, and die. My problem was simply not having the fuel cap not tight enough, it requires the cap to turn , and make three clicks to be tight enough, and the air vent in the cap to work to work. Thank you for your chanel

    • @doublewide6
      @doublewide6  2 года назад

      I didn't know the cap had to be on to run.

    • @Bob-ns4od
      @Bob-ns4od 2 года назад

      The cap not put on correctly created a vapor lock in the tank. If you loosen the cap after it stops gas trys to.come out at the cap. The mower will probably run with the cap off. I didn't try it. All I know is that I had a cup or better of fuel being pushed out the top of the tank which gave me a clue as to my problem.

    • @Bob-ns4od
      @Bob-ns4od 2 года назад +1

      @@doublewide6 I guess it was kind of a vapor lock in the tank. With the cap not on correctly pressure build up in the tank. When I loosened the cap fuel was putshed out of the tank at the fill cap. I thought I had a bad cap, but when I put the cap back on I remembered to tighten it to the third click. ( after you get the cap on and.have done a few turns of the cap the cap will make a clicking noise, at the third click it should be tightened properly. ) beats rebuilding the carb, and still have the problem. Have a great week.

When I got it there was a ton of junk in the tank and the pep cock was clogged the fuel lines were dry rotten so I cleaned the the tank replaced fuel line filter fuel pump and cleaned carb and its still doing it. The customer said another shop replaced the coil. I put a new plug in and changed the oil cuz it had water in it. Valves are good. What am I missing?

    Had mine for 1.5 years and it started cutting off on me about 2 months ago. At first it cut off after using 30-45 mins, then 20-15, then to 10-5 mins. It still starts but will cut off. My buddy disconnected the intellipower knob and the motor doesn't cut off and will just keep running and cutting in idle..which would mean its not a mechanical failure. I guess it's electrical or maybe I need to replace the intellipower module/assembly. I wasn't expecting a problem like this with my CC.

    What a piss poor "mechanic". First rule of thumb to turning wrenches is to actually turn a wrench before putting an impact on it and just gunning it. I'm sure you've broken off enough screws to already know that though. The second rule of thumb is to diagnose 1st, not throw parts at it 'hoping' to fix the issue.
    Had you been paying attention to proper diagnosis you would have known that jet was clogged before you ever removed the carb. You could have fixed the issue without removing the carb body and saved yourself a can a carb cleaner. Even blind squirrels find a nut on occasion.
    As a parts dealer I do thank you though. Keep that cannon firing for me.
