    Hi friends!
    Welcome to my first “Declutter & Organize” video of 2024! This is the first video in my month-long series! I hope this series will give you lots of motivation and inspiration to declutter & organize some spaces you may have! I definitely have several spaces that need attention in my home! I am excited to start the year off with my home decluttered and organized! Thanks for being here and here’s wishing you a neat and tidy 2024! 🤗

      Looking forward to your decluttering series. The metal/wood scrolls things all over your walls could be lessened in my opinion. You said in the video your wall decor is meaningful to you so those might be easier to declutter than the things with words or quotes.

    I've made a goal of getting rid of 24 items a month = 288 a yr. I'm going to document everything I get rid of. I'm going to try to make it 300 items by the end of the year so that'll be a bonus on my part. 2024 here I come!!!!

    I have done a lot of decluttering too. I love it.. Keeping it simple! I am getting my stuff down to where I can manage it. My Christmas decor is my biggest category. I am going to go thru it tonight and thin things out. Should have done it when I was putting decor away!

    • @MyBigTidyUp
      @MyBigTidyUp  5 месяцев назад +3

      Yay Kristi!!! I definitely had way too much Christmas decor, I have to admit I am glad it is gone! I do think I will have more to go through when it comes to my Christmas decor, but I definitely made a huge dent in it! I will be busy for sure this month, but I know it will be worth it in the end! Thank you so much for watching and let me know how the Christmas Declutter goes! 🤗

    I am surprised at how much decor you were able to declutter today after several previous declutters. We have so much work still to do by comparison
    I will have to get my hustle going! Thanks for always including the hidden spots as well. It helps to keep us honest
    I am looking forward to next week. Happy New Year

I hope you’re having a great weekend!

    Always love watching your declutter videos because they inspire me to get up and declutter my own home. I was wondering why you have two places for decor items--in your hutch and in the closet? Now that you've decluttered so much it feels like what you have left could all be "homed" in one place in your cabinet? Then your decor can be boundaried in one place and if that cabinet starts to get stuffy then you know it's time to declutter!

    • @MyBigTidyUp
      @MyBigTidyUp  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Tracy! Thank you so much! I do think I have minimized it almost enough to keep everything in one place. I don’t think I can keep everything in the upstairs cabinet because I have some pictures in the basement that I don’t think will fit there. I tend to change my decor upstairs more often, so it definitely would make sense to keep everything upstairs. I just don’t think my bigger wall pieces will fit, but honestly I’ve never checked! Now that you have put that in my mind, I definitely am going to see! Thank you so much for watching, and taking the time to leave me such a great suggestion! I hope you’re having an awesome weekend!

    DeDe, you really should be proud of yourself. I truly admire your commitment to continuing to take a real look at the things you have and in being honest with yourself as to whether or not you will use them. Holding yourself accountable and giving yourself a firm deadline is a great idea and goal. I have every faith that you will be successful in the completion of this. And I really loved what you said about experiencing a shift in your thinking. That is SO important in life, for sure. I am remembering that it's not the objects that matter nearly as much as the memories and what they represent. And those memories are not contained in a physical object. That makes letting go of things long stored or held onto just that much easier. Wishing you the best as you continue to work on your home. May you experiencing the meaningful and simple life you seek. Have a blessed weekend!

    • @MyBigTidyUp
      @MyBigTidyUp  5 месяцев назад +2

      Hi there Pal! I always look forward to your comments because you are so insightful and speak the truth. I definitely have experienced a shift in my thinking. So much of my younger years were spent trying to accumulate things, now I want to accumulate experiences and enjoy memories and make new ones. I truly do seek a simpler life. Less things to worry about, less things to clean or maintain, and although I plan on being around for quite some time, less things for my family to worry about after I am gone. I know that decluttering is an ongoing process and sometimes due to holidays or gifts. There will always be an influx of items coming into my home, but I feel a fresh new commitment to bringing in less than I take out.
      Thank you so much for being a part of this journey, even though I know, sometimes it’s a bumpy ride! Lol!
      Have an awesome weekend !

      I am in total agreement about wanting experiences rather than "things". I am working on being a better steward of the things I do have yet not wanting that to take up too much time. I also feel that when we get the urge to declutter, perhaps we are doing so to make room for new things in our lives, such as new experiences, new insights, new levels of growth. It's exciting to contemplate, for sure. Weather here today is calling for snow so after I do some work from home this morning, I plan on getting cozy for the day. Wishing you a day that brings you peace and contentment.

    Good Evening... the first of a Month Long Series (?!) ... how cool ! What an Inspiration and I think breaking it down into " Categories ",.... such a good idea ! Okkk. Yesss. My " Home Decor " is a Whole Thing unto itself, lol ! ... I have trimmed it down from last year... but I probably ought to go throughit agsin soon. :) I'll update my Comment after watching!
    ..." 7 2 items ..??! "... ( Said in the manner of Miss Julie Andrews in ' The Sound of Music"..lol.. when she finds out about " 7 children "..😉😁)
    That is really quite a lot, Miss Dede...and impressive. I was curious as to the ' Sticky Note "
    ...do you put a reminder about the " project " ( or whatever it is ) in a Planner or Calendar ,so perhaps when you find extra time, you may decide work on it (?).I had discovered that if I dont have a " Reminder " on something like a paint project or what- have - you .. I might not get to it fir 6 months, lol ! 😆 Ay-yi-yi. Lol.
    What a nice Beginning to the Series, and as stated.... good Inspiration and providing a bit of ambition to work on getting things done, and getting ones environment in better order.
    🙂😊 Thank you for a lovely Video! 🤍

      Hello there! What a joy to hear from you! Yes, this will be a month long series! Unfortunately, I do have that many areas I need to make decisions on. One thing about decluttering, it is definitely a lifelong process, or at least, I think it will be for me. Even if we don’t plan on it, I do think we have an influx of items that come into our homes because of maintenance or gifts we receive. I have said this before, but I have found the older I get the more I want.
      I love what you mentioned about writing it in a planner. I actually think I will do that because if I don’t visit the areas with the sticky notes often, by the time I see the note, the deadline might have passed. I remember my mother always making lists and notes and as I have gotten older I definitely understand why!😂😂😂 if I don’t have a note or have it in my planner, it just isn’t likely to happen!
      Thank you so much for being here, your encouragement, and your continued friendship!

      @MyBigTidyUp ....Oh, my pleasure, friend... to be here, to support Your Channel, and of course, friendship!
      🙂😊🫶🏻
      You made a very good point ,about Decluttering and such... being a " Lifelong Process " ....Indeed, it is .
      I'm not a " Minimalist " by nature , lol.. but I do understand about wanting things to a " little less", more " manageable ", if you will.
      Yes,I use a Planner... I akways have , I'm such a Dinosaur, lol.. but I found that these " Reminders " ,along with the things listed that I may need to do a Project is something that I find helpful. :) ..And " keeps me honest " about it, too. .. with regards to the time to do the project, etc .Lol.
      I'm looking forward to the next part of The Series , I'm sure it will be great .
      Wishes to you, my friend... that the start to this Year will find you in Good Health, in good Spirits ,and bring you unexpected joys and Blessings that multiply as the Year continues. 🙏🏻✨️
      😊🤍🫶🏻

    Hi DeDe! I do pick a word of the year and mine is simplify! Great minds think alike.😊. I love how you picked categories and organized the spaces with zones. Such a smart idea. I need a “smell good” cabinet too. I’ve got candles and essential oils in many different places so who knows what I really have? LOL. I’m the queen of “repurposing” something and I have a stack of items that were going to be redone to be used in a different way and it’s never gonna happen. You’re right - my priorities have shifted and making more stuff to put in my home is not one of them. I want to simplify my home, my life, my relationships and my heart. Time to clear out the clutter and focus on what matters most. I’m a people pleaser so letting go of toxic relationships is going to be hard for me. And if the toxic relationship involves family and they can’t be “removed” then I’ll focus on how I’ll simplify my reaction to them. I think we make life too hard? I overthink everything and move stuff from place to place. I’m done with that mindset bc it is not serving me. Out with the old BUT no new items but a fresh, new way to look at the simple things that bring my heart joy. Happy New Year, friend! Wishing you much love and happiness this new year!🩷

      Hello Jennifer! The more I get to know you the more I think we are definitely kindred spirits! Almost everything you said, I can definitely relate to in one way or another! When I Declutter items and have less, it has been such a release emotionally! I know that sounds crazy, but it is true! I remember when I first started this channel and I did one of my first big declutters I felt like I had lost 10 pounds! It is such a lighter feeling mentally!
      Yes ma’am, let’s look for those simpler things to bring us joy! Happy, happy new year, Jennifer!
