Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed the review. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, it's very much appreciated. AudioScape are a great group of people making great gear so I'm happy to spread the word about them 👍🏼
This song reminds me of Gin Blossoms. Brings me back in the best way. Love your videos, man. Relaxed pace that feels really good to watch in longer form videos like a mix. Lots of subtle wisdom drops as well. My 76D is on the way and I’m stoked! Thanks for making this! ✌️
Thanks so much Mark for helping to make this video happen! I definitely look forward to hearing your thoughts once you spend some more time with the 76D 👍🏼
I’m curious to know if you’ve experimented with serial compression with the 76D and the Retro 176? I’m so close to picking up a 76D and running it in front of my 176 as my vocal chain. I’ve heard Greg Wells use his silver face UREI 1176 into a 176 and it sounded bananas. If you’ve got any experience with running serial comps with the 176 I’d appreciate any insights. Hope you drop a new vid soon, A+ channel
I haven't run the 176 and 76D together but I have run the following serial pairs: RS124 > 176 176 > Stam ADG 176 > Bluey Stam SA-2A > 176 I enjoyed all of those! It was just a matter of the vocalist and what the best fit was 👍🏼 Thanks so much for the continued support! Next up is going to be a Manley VoxBox Review and then hopefully I'll have time to do the VoxBox hardware vs UAD plugin shootout.
@@SeawellStudios Any suggestion among those for male tenor vocals in the Americana/singer-songwriter/country genres? (e.g. Wood Brothers, Tyler Childers, Jackie Greene, Morgan Wallen, Hardy). Right now I’m running Lauten Atlantis > 1073SPX > 176, but I’m also looking at mics either a Soyuz 17 or Heiserman H47/HK47 cap. I’ll probably get the 17 because it sounds great on both male and female vox and there’s not a 4 month waitlist. Love an 87ai into Voxbox. It’s just “that” sound. Looking forward to the vid 😁
I have a pair of the AS 500 series 3VA and I love them. I know you have the bluey and of course I follow cla. I’m in the market for my first 1176. If you had to choose one. AS or BLA which would you choose. I’m going to use it a lot like this video. Print print print. Your opinion is appreciated as always and thanks for the video and trying to help AS in hard times. Shows your true character. (Already donated before seeing this).
I'd love to check out the 3va at some point! I love the Bluey(especially for lead vocals). If it's primarily a mix tool, I like the Bluey. If it's mostly a tracking tool I'd say go for the AudioScape. The Bluey can be very heavy handed but I like that(otherwise I'll just use a plugin). The wet/dry blend on the Bluey makes it work pretty much in any mixing situation. It's not well known, but BLA also modeled CLA's SSL insert path into the Bluey so you get that added flavor as well 👍🏼
They tell me that the 500 series and the rack mount sounds Identical. But if I had to do it over I’d grab the rack mount. It feels like it thickens things up. Even just running a signal through it. The units at the moment, are my fav comps that I own. I don’t have that many compressors yet … lol. It works well on everything too. As long as you dont mind that it thickens. I’m sure I’ll have both the bluey and the AS. But I’ll go w bluey first. Thanks as always
@@SeawellStudios I haven’t had my hands on the AA. I do have their spring reverb unit wich is awesome. But I can hear it in all the shootouts online. You should try one..there pretty spectacular compared to any clones. Maybe not quite as good as a vintage but still do the low end thing the plug-ins and clones all get wrong
tbh its really close to the cal 76 from waves its too transparent its nothing like the ua ln or the uri but its nice toy you can probably push it more than the plug ins and it stays sweet but at the end normal people can't really tell the difference
I didn’t find that to be the case at all. I don’t mix for “normal people.” Each and every mix I’m trying to make it my new personal best, but to each their own 👍🏻
@@SeawellStudios Agreed. The whole "normal people can't tell the difference" is such a bad concept. Just because they aren't poised to pinpoint sonic differences, doesn't mean it won't sound better and create a more enjoyable listening experience. You can never go wrong aiming for maximum quality possible, but you can prevent a song from reaching its maximum potential by settling for less.
@@LuxFlowz yeah I've always felt like that was a bit of a cop out. Of course the client is #1 but after that I do also like to mix for my own personal sense of achievement, growth and satisfaction. I think that's important to help keep you hungry and interested in your profession. If I wanted to just phone it in, I'd get a desk job somewhere, you know?
It’s amazing how a great song makes gear sound so good.
Mark is one talented dude! Thanks for checking out the video 👊🏼
Love my A.S Gear! I've got the Bluestripe and the Opto! Couldn't live without em!
Donation made. Thanks for doing this. I love my 76D!
Thank you Tom! The 76D far exceeded my expectations, it's awesome!
I know this is old, but very nice demo, shows off your chops nicely and heart felt empathy for the AS folks as well.

Great review/demo of the 76d thank you for taking your time and helping others in time of needs 🙏
Thank you very much! They are a great bunch of people making great gear so I am happy to support them!
Another well done video Josh!
Thanks, I really appreciate your continued support Ken!
Interesting to see you mixing the drums audience perspective. That’s kind of how you know that this guy is a great live performer
Thanks for checking out the video. Mark is definitely a great live performer!
Just great sounding gear back by great people at Audioscape!
Agreed! So happy for all the success the AudioScape team is having, it is well deserved!
Great video, Josh! Will have to try bypassing the compression on EG’s in the future. Great sounding 1176!
Thanks so much Mark for helping to make this video happen! I definitely look forward to hearing your thoughts once you spend some more time with the 76D 👍🏼
Just bought a 76D!
Nice! I hope you enjoy it!
love the vibes in your videos. fun to watch! thanks
I'm so glad you're enjoying the content! Thank you for your kind words.
For mono drum bus, all buttons in, how would you compare this to the BLA Bluey?
If you’re wanting more agressive, faster, saturated then that’s the Bluey. 76D is much more versatile to me. Both a great!
@@SeawellStudios thanks! Can the rev D still distort nicely?
@@jackwavell Yeah definitely, particularly in all buttons in mode.
@@SeawellStudios thank you! Ended up grabbing a Hairball rev D 🙂
@@jackwavell Nice! I haven't used one before but have always heard good things about them.
Subscribed! love the mix
Thank you so much! I hope you find a bunch more content here that you'll enjoy.

Interesting. I haven't used the UA reissue, you don't think the AudioScape can touch it? Have you had the chance to use both?
