Remember how one level was called "40 Fathoms"? 40 Fathoms is only 70 meters (240 ft) deep. That's easily doable for a freediver, so I guess Lara can hold her breath for quite a bit underwater (which the FMV after the Offshore Rig levels - the one where she goes down with the sub - seems to indicate).
The game tricks you into thinking you're very deep underwater, but given that there's enough light down there for Lara to know where to swim to when the sub crashes, she's not _that_ far down.
The only thing I take issue with is that she has perfect vision underwater without any goggles. In clear fresh waster, that might be doable, but not in the ocean. That would ruin her eyes due to all the salt.
That's why she needs to be guided by a player seeing for her;)

I agree this level, maybe all the underwater ones, were so lacklustre. I wish they would’ve added some more 3D elements like the flat pipes that are everywhere, or even some stalagmites (or is it stalactite?) in the caves and caverns..
Or at LEAST give her some damn swim shoes lol 😂
3D elements would have really elevated these levels. I feel it was such a missed opportunity 😞 Haha we need to petition for swim shoes 😂❤️

I feel like these levels need the most work done to update them. They feel way too similarly to the original and didn't get the flare up like the atlanta levels. You're playthroughs are so fun to watch. Especially while im on my secert hunting playthrough!
Totally agree! There doesn’t seem to be anything special or extra added to this levels like in other levels, which is a huge shame. Hopefully they’ll get updated in the future 🤞 Thanks so much 🥰

I agree with you with the levels, they could have added more algae or seaweeds to places to add colour. As much as I like the blue too, I think the two-tone colour of the levels are a bit stale, especially when you have to do 4 of these levels.
What surprised me when I played The Deck, was how easy it is in the end. I remember struggling a lot more than I did.

It's definitely easier on a second playthrough. Not a very beginner friendly level, as it's hard to know where you are supposed to go.

hmm interesting with the colours. When I was a child my favourite was blue, then when I was a bit older that became purple (deep purple only) and as an adult my favourite is now and for a long time black 😅 ( the slow descent 🤣)

I know how you feel about the huge lake, that part always creeps me out especially when it's dark and you can't see what's ahead. Same thing with the Sea Serpent fight in Legend.
I can also relate to getting annoyed and snappy at Lara croft though gameplay im currently playing though tomb raider 3 remastered i definitely think tomb raider 2 remastered gameplay is less difficult and annoying anyway cant wait to listen and watch your next tomb raider 2 remastered playthrough of tibetan foothills Lara looking good in that jacket and sunglasses ❤❤

This must be the quickest descent into an absolute disaster in any of your playthroughs, first 20 seconds!
My favourite level from any Tomb Raider. Absolutely adore it, so much wonderful exploring, I love the multi-deck design, and the atmosphere is to die for. And yeah, it's just too big and dark for even the modern graphics to show off the size of the room - gotta be the biggest interior space in any level. But it's an amazing level to explore using photo mode, I spent ages just zooming around in the air, scaling up from one deck to another, the level's even bigger than you think if you do that.
Did you know the shark cavern can be traversed around the outside without going into the water at all? Only discovered it when exploring this time. Also my third shark got stuck in the wall by the gap in the far left corner, which was a bit of a scare when I went through that way the last time!
Not sure if the graphics thing is a case of the wow factor wearing off, but I do think the outdoor levels fare so, so much better than the indoor ones. I wondered whether I'd just got used to it, but getting to Golden Mask was a very useful kick up the arse because it's stunning.
Flamethrower guys at the end, I love the way the enemies just leap up on top of movable boxes. My absolute favourite is the block that hides the first secret in Ice Palace, if you move it into the corridor and trigger the yeti round the corner, the yeti often ends up climbing onto the block into the ceiling. Entertained me for hours as a kid, that did.
btw have you seen the update to Palace Midas from the patch?
This level does have an amazing design 😍 I agree, the outdoor spaces are just on another level in this remaster ☺️ ye I’ve seen the Place Midas patch! The main room looks awesome with no ceiling 😃
I agree with you, Suzanne. Unfortunately, this level did not receive the care and attention I expected. It is exactly like the original, but only with better textures and darker lighting. 😕

In the end of this fantastic review of the level, is a FMV of Lara going on the plane and it crashes and she is in Tibet.
This FMV is called "CRASH FMV" looks like it has inspired from Indiana Jones, Temple of Doom (1984, also my birth year and a book from George Orwell). Indiana Jones goes on the plane in China and having a conversation and falls asleep. When waking up he realize the pilots are gone and they didn't have enough fuel to continue so they must jump out of the plane. Lara goes to Tibet, Indiana Jones to India.

I have a new theory about the general disappointment we’re experiencing with these levels. Maybe our eyes are getting used to the remastered design and can’t get surprised anymore? Maybe it’s just stupid, but I was really wondering that after your community post.
Maybe, it is quite possible that the “wow factor” has died off a bit, but I do think the water levels were a bit underdone, if that makes sense? 😂❤️
actually that sounds really smart! But you guys wait till you get to TR3. At least for me the wow factor was definitely there!!

Nah, TR2 in general feels like it got the least amount of attention out of the 3 games. It is now far too dark in many areas, as it seems like the developers just upscaled the original graphics, added a darkness filter over the top, and called it a day. It doesn't have nearly as many of the new 3D elements added to the environments that TR1 and 3 received, and some stages like the Maria Doria look much worse with the new lighting.
I felt the same way. I’m playing Tomb Raider 3, and thinking it definitely got the most love. Tomb Raider 2 didn’t look much different. I keep flipping from classic to remastered to see the difference. Other than a little better detail here and there 2 didn’t get a lot of revamping. You’ll definitely be wowed in 3 though. I can’t wait to see your reaction, Suzanne :)
0:50 ish, how come they could properly size the bench but not the massive bed-chairs in the previously level? The ones that are just the 'ground' okay fine, but there were some that were just decoration that didn't need to look so derpy.
We have a purple kitchen, it's nice. In different times of day it can look a bit pink, or greyish, but it's just so nice. And it was yellow before, I like it much better. My media room is also purple. Both on the lighter side of purple.
The deck is one of my favorite levels. You can get on the higher deck jumping on one of the structures with the sloped roof. You do not need to go through the caves. There are 2 of them on the deck you are on. Am in the temple of Xian at the moment. Opened the door beneath the great wall. Love the tibet levels. Hate the white yeti’s. Try to use the pistols if possible. Sometimes you need the faster guns. Thanks for this video.

@@suzannetheraiderDepends on where you're standing. Did defeat the big monster with birdhead at the end with pistols. Was standing in a corner where he/she kept slamming me without hitting me. just took a long time.

Yah, these levels for The Deck are pretty much the same as what originally was presented. You mentioned about what we think since the patches have come out. It's sad, but it's true with most games now that they get them out there just to make up for development costs, and then later produce updates or patches to cover their mistakes. The players not only suffer because of this but are also used as non-paid game testers for those same mistakes and the players are the ones who pay those costs. Are we just stupid or what? I agree, it really is a shame that one has to go back and do the game over because they were lead down the wrong path or didn't see something important. In regard to that, you, Suzanne, have mentioned many times about not seeing the pick ups because they can't be seen, but you also followed what people told you about turning off the ? that helps one see the pick ups. *shrugs shoulders* just sayin. HAPPY EASTER!!

All games should be finished and bug free as much as possible before money is taken from people for the product 💔
It was an exclamation mark, not a question mark. The patch actually changed it to an image of Lara'a hand. I also felt like it made it easier to find pick-ups. The keys in Tomb of Tihocan were completely invisible before the patch, and I wouldn't have found them without the marker.
Go figure I'm just about to start Tomb Raider 2 as well.

One thing i noticed on my own playthrough of this level is they have removed (from the Remaster) that haunting little melody that plays when you enter the cabin just before you pick up the Seraph. Why ?
I always regarded this as the game informing you your toil of these underwater levels is at an end in finding the very thing you came down here for in the first place.A little melodic payoff if you will.I'm a purist though,so maybe it's just me.

Of the three games, TR2 definitely has been given the least amount of love in terms of graphical updates. You're in for a treat over the first few TR3 levels. I predict many uses of the word 'gorgeous' in those upcoming videos.

i just finished xian temple and i can't wait to hear your thoughts on the tibet levels because i thought they are soooo pretty! I was disappointed in the remaster of the deck too, but I never liked the look and feel of these underwater levels, too dark for me!

Looking forward to the Tibet levels, especially the monastery. Do you take out the monks or leave them alone? I've done it both ways. Either way, it's fun.
I usually let the monks live and try get them to help me out 😂
I was disappointed with the whole remaster to be honest, there were so many missed opportunities to add stuff in and make the games even prettier etc and I'm not just talking about TR2 even tho its my fav of the three. Some levels they added some good stuff in like the massive chandelier in the opera house for example. Other levels, they left pretty much alone and just hoped the newer graphics would make everyone go oooh ahhh all over the place.
Ye I do think some levels were given hardly any love at all. I wish they’d taken 6 more months to work on it and make every level amazing 😞

Good job playing through all of the water levels. They are all so similar looking and I think I'd get bored if I was playing them. I agree that they could have made them better in the remaster.

That Harpoon Gun is utter dead weight. I would say somethng else but I'm not sure it's appropriate.

Also i agree 40 fathoms isn't that deep for free drivers. It's only like 250 feet. I've seen some do well at 500 feet, which is impressive. I do think Lara should've waited a day before flying because diving and flying on the same day isn't safe
yeah it is the weakest weapon. I would ony use it if climbing out of the water and shooting the enemies from above is not an option

This is one of my least favourite sections in TR2. The Deck has very confusing level design, the enemies start to become ridiculously tough, and there's already been too many water levels in a row for my liking. The location also makes no sense, since we just spent the last few hours making our way though the upside down wreck of the Maria Doria, but once we reach the top, the ship is now the right way up!? Huh?
The ship broke in two when it went down. One half landed upside down, the other right side up

8:40... that is a cool detail that I didn't notice at all while playing! I assume they get clean in water then dirty again?
I know this map in controversial but it was always one of my favorites of TR 2. Huge, complex, cool looking and imaginative! I think most of us will agree that having to drop down to the floating boat to get the key was kind of bad design, but I don't think that one design flaw ruins the level.
That drop IS absolutely ridiculous though. It literally takes away 90% of your health. If you have 89% health and you drop... you die... then you think that drop is impossible and get confused and never try it again until hours later in desperation or you found some guide / tip back in the 90s.
I think they knew ... you do get a full medipack but maybe they should have made it two 😉.
It’s a really cool level design, that’s why I was expecting so much more from the remaster I think 😅
