Trying to Fix This Rare PS4 - Only 6,500 Made! I paid $124 for this broken Taco Bell Gold PS4. The seller bought it broken and then their friend tried to fix it. Since the friend couldn't fix it, I get to see if I can figure out what's wrong and get it working again.

This is a perfect example of why “My friend can do it cheaper.” is not always the best option.
Yep, agreed
If I was the friend, and I watched this video to find out it was as easy as swapping the hard drive, I would be ultra-MEGA-embarassed.
The "friend" that tries to "fix" it usually ends up doing the same kind of job Al Bundy did when he tried to fix his car.
@@StormsparkPegasus loved the married with children reference!
@@danielhulan3058 It's the only thing I can think of that showed as much incompetence as whoever tried to "fix" this console originally, lol.
You know it’s a good day when Steve uploads, especially if he’s able to fix what he’s trying to fix.
Spoilers!
Damn you had to spoil it
Bro spoiled it >:(
never look at the comments of a video prior to watching lmaoo
@@kaboommusicmixer8149
I’ve never gotten so many likes on one comment before.
Prayers for healing and comfort my friend. Thanks again 👍
Much love. God bless.
11:25 You can see a brown spot on the paste! I can't believe someone opened a device and don't change the thermal paste...
Yeah, it's weird that they didn't
I assume the friend did not have any thermal paste.
I've come across a lot of people who have no idea you're supposed to replace the thermal paste when you open/clean a PS4. There's plenty of people that have asked me why their ps is still overheating after they cleaned it and when I ask did you replace the thermal paste they say what's that? So you have to explain what it is what it does and how it creates that seal and helps pull the heat away from the chip so it doesn't overheat.
Yes! A lot of people don't understand that.
Ive seen plenty of processors ruined by not having the thermal paste changed after an attempted cleanup.
I played consoles all my life and did not know prior to this channel (in my defense, I didn't need to open my consoles funny enough. Never had any significant issues until xbox series x).
They will only learn if we educate them. Keep spreading the tech word. 😊
@@Thesakuraharonaexactly!
I appreciate you’re still managing to upload videos every Friday. They’re a great way to start my weekend! Best wishes on your health journey!
Thank you! I’ve been able to film a normal amount of videos without over working myself so far.
Hey man I know the fight is tough but you have more support than you can imagine. All you can do is be strong and think forward.
What do you mean the fight is tough? Is he going through something?
@@Chrissmillsdiagnosed with cancer recently, it was mentioned a few videos ago, everyone’s poured support and prayers and we wish him all the best with kicking it’s ass
I can’t wait for the day that on his site he has cancer ribbons for sale with text on them that say “I fixed it.”
My little girl was waiting for the “perfect amount of thermal paste”. 😂 She asks me on each video for this part.
Take care, thanks for your work and hope you get well soon!
Greetings from Germany.
😁
PS4 Repair! This is extra special cause I just recently got into repairing PS4s
Awesome! Love to hear it
It’s almost like google knows everything you do and recommends videos based on your activity 🧐
@@Supermoneygang12 yeah maybe but in my case I have notifications turned on all the time for Tronicsfix, I love his content.
So many consoles get thrown out because of bad hard drives. The only diagnosis they do reminds me of the time Al Bundy tried to fix his car by opening the hood and pointing at things.
LOL
😂😂😂😂😂
Bro, it is always a good day when I come across a Married with Children reference.
Just want to say Steve I really hope everything is going okay with your illness, you're strong and you'll be fixed in no time I'm sure 😊
I’m doing well so far. Treatments aren’t fun but they’re manageable.
11:37 No matter how many times I see this, it always puts a smile on my face and it always will.
How are you feeling, Steve? You look great!
Feeling good considering everything. Thanks for asking!
I hope things are going ok for you Steve. Kudos to you and your work ethic for keeping your business going under those tough times. Keeping you in my thoughts.
Really loving the TronicsFix Longs videos, keep them coming. I work as a copier technician and also fix other electronics too,so I watch a lot of your videos for educational and entertainment purposes.Don't get down on yourself, stay positive and stay fighting.
Hope you're doing well Steve! Thinking about you! Wishing all the best energy for your and yours :) And thank you for uploading on a Friday at lunchtime!
Love the video, especially the old VHS tape fast-forwarding throwback. I did open up my PS4 pro and clean the inside and put new thermal paste on the APU, but missed a bunch of screws and lightbar ribbon cable, but for a first try, it works and is quiet, but I got a PS5 and don't use the PS4 a whole lot.
Great video once again! Congrats for the fix Steve 💪🏻 love the content!
Love your videos Steve, I wish you the best.
This weekend I'm getting a ps5 super excited
Awesome! Hope you love it!
Beautiful console. Happy that you could save it. Does a special edition playstation a special board in it
I wondered that, as if he changes it is it still special ?
nothing is special apart from the case....6500 is click bait
Always love these repair videos it’s super satisfying when things get fixed
Thanks Steve, wishing you all the best
Love the fast forwarding, reminds me a lot of Tool Time. 😄Great fixing as always! 🙂
Your special effects are fun. I enjoyed the old school FF. :)
Really liked the VHS ff, good stuff as always.
Nice fix! I liked the vcr effects 😁
Keep going strong Steve 💪 your videos have always been an inspiration ❤️
Love your edits
Watching your videos made me fix my Xbox One s thanks for the great work 🎉
Love your videos!
I hope you are in good health
Another one saved! Good stuff Steve. Hope you and the family are doing ok ❤
That retro fast forwarding was much better than just skipping ahead! Great editing, I hope it remains in the future!
Glad you liked that! My editor, Dan threw that in
@@Tronicsfix thanks for replying! Tell your editor, Dan, to keep the fast forward editing! It was so good, I usually never comment; I just had to tell you that the transition was fantastic!
love the new VHS fast forward transition....brings me back :)
Nice work Steve, sending positive vibes from across the pond 💪
I appreciate that!
Good job! I like the new fast-forward effect, btw.
love the addition of ff hope you get better soon to give us more of your masterpiece
Great work Steve. I hope your health is improving - keep it up mate
Amazing video as usual. Always great to see you apply that perfect amount of thermal paste.
P.S.: Hope you're feeling great, sending good vibes to you!
Look forward to your videos and love the sound effect for the perfect amount of thermal paste😂😂😂
Love your videos hope your feeling well best wishes for quick recovery I always learn something new watching your videos even if it's the same type console there's always new problems and you always have a solution
Great job as always! Would love to see you getting into BGA repairs. BGA stations are not that expensive anymore and reballing and replacing BGA chips are quite relaxing and satifiying to me
You probably need to get out more.

Pacific DAYLIGHT time, PDT 😊. Thank you for your videos.
Excellent video. I love watching your videos. Glad you managed to fix it. I use canned air on my ps5 very frequently.
Love the new fast forward scenes!
I loved the whole retro vhs fast forward. That brought back some memories
Great to see yet another console fixed! Make sure the good doctors give you the perfect amount of thermal paste! Hang in there! You got this!
prayers for a speedy recovery! 😊
Just checked looking for all the custom models. Limited edition, custom edition, halo/God of War edition forza horizon last of us etc etc. So many models to buy. Ps2 with the see-through blue case. Woooh
I love the vhs fast-forward effect and sound
Thank you Steve for make my day's so much easier to go through, i hope you have a god one
2 minute mark: it probably just needs the perfect amount of thermal paste. lol
Lol, of course!
called it! lol
Long time viewer, first time poster, great video as always. Sending healing prayers your way!
This guy, wow I don't know what to say more than I enjoy your videos and the talent. I'm sitting watching your clips and I'm wondering, how the F do you become this good? Wow man.

Youre an amazing guy steve, love your videos get well soon
There we go very satisfying how you take pride and do the job the way it’s suppose to.
I remember seeing the posters for those in Taco Bell’s 😂
Me too!
Hey Steve! Hope you start to feel better!☀️
And this is what refurbishment looks like. Take note DkOldies.. Great job steve. Another great repair! Love the videos.

nice video as usual. how are you feeling steve? wish you health and i hope you live 200 years so the world can see your amazing talent.
Feeling good the last few days!
@@Tronicsfixglad to know. Thanks for the reply.
Another PS4 saved! Too bad you can't mod in the "bong" sound effect from the Taco Bell XBox.
Agreed! The Taco Bell Xbox is better just for that sound effect, imo
It’s fun when you try new editing techniques!!
I really like the VHS style FF for the sped up sections. The sound is spot on!
I actually really dis-like them. I hope they don't make it a thing going forward
@@zandert33, I saw what you did there 😊
So grimy inside. You sure that wasn't intentional to give you the authentic Taco Bell restaurant experience?
Lol, so true!
Love your videos. I wish I had your skill set and job
One of my favorite parts of the video is the part where we need the perfect amount of thermal paste. 💯 and second the finished product brought back to life
Hi tronix praying for a speedy recovery
Beautiful console. Happy that you could save it. Does a special edition playstation a special board in it?
Nope, everything inside is exactly the same
@Tronicsfix i have a ps4 on 5.05 that is jailbroken and want to keep it there but i cant find anyone to fix it for me. Would u be interested in lookin at it and fixing it for me?
Great video Steve
Awesome work!
praying for your health brother ❤❤
"The perfect amount of thermal paste" is the phrase I use when talking about adding anything to anything now.
It’s so satisfying to see that little red plastic straw blast the dust out of whatever little crevice that it’s hiding in. Almost as good as an easy lazy Sunday morning.
I love the retro Fast Forward animation/transitions. Keep up the great work! You're a huge inspiration, both for fixing things and your life issues. Stay Strong. You can beat it! My wife is a survivor, too.
Your wife is amazing for going through this!
@@Tronicsfix Not gonna lie, brother. It was the scariest moment of our lives. She's been cancer free for 10 years now.
I've been watching your channel now, for a very long time. I can tell you're a fighter. I know you can beat it. Stay strong. You're in our prayers.
I bought 2 pairs of AirPods Max for parts to try and fix one of them and I may end up with 2 working pairs for $200 less than you get them from Apple. One of them is in very very nice condition too and I have the drive to repair them partially from watching your channel. Your videos are great and have been so inspiring. I am also 95% done with my first board repair for my 3ds just waiting on new bumpers and all I will say about that is you make it look so easy haha.
I'm glad that thermal protection is a standard practice these days. On the plus side, I bet it was a nice foot warmer for a while.
Love the FFWD VHS thing! 😁
You're the best Steve!
Another good video. Though I don't like the fast forward effect. I much prefer your finger click to put everything together.
The state of recovery is more important to me
How are your treatments going?
They're going well. I've had two so far and the third starts next week. They're not fun but manageable.
Best $124 you've spent so far Steve, , great Video 👍
I will have to show up for that giveaway. Been on the lookout for a ps5, but been wary given the issues I heard on reddit and my own personal issues with xbox series x repeatedly disconnecting wifi (if you find one with this issue, please do a video! I couldnt find a solution...)
All that aside. Your videos are so helpful and gave me confidence to clean my ps2. I also learned that importance of thermal paste. Thank you
Enjoying the new FastForward animation
I used your videos to clean out my PS4 that was making the worst noise from overheating. Played Ghost of Tsushima online and the console would have to switch itself off after 20 minutes all the time… Not it’s been completely silent for about 6 months and no issues whatsoever!
The only difference is I used a bit more thermal paste than you use, and I did it in a cross pattern 😆
How are you going through what you are and even looking sexier? LOL. Looking great bro and Godspeed on your recovery.
Lol, I appreciate your comment!
Another great video hope everything is going well with your health keep you in my thoughts and prayers take care and God bless. 😎🙏
Love your videos man 🫶🏻
Nice Fix, Steve.
I have this gold PS4 I won it in the giveaway about 8 years ago. That baby has worked for me till this very day. Idk what they did to make mines but thy built it to last for sure lol. Have a PS5 now so I don't really play with on it much now
You rock……. Bringing it back to life
Hope you’re doing well, take care 🙏🏻
Really hope everythings going well for you mate❤️
you make great content
i hope you get well soon
I wonder how all that gunk gets in there. I understand the fan and heatsink to a point, because they're moving the ambient air, but how does it all get packed into the ports like that? Wild.
Hey I like those little >> interludes. For some reason it reminds me of Teeny Little Super Guy from Sesame Street 😁
Great video thank you
