    I love how that Tobey and Andrew weren’t just cameos, and were actually crucial to the plot, while being phenomenal supporting characters. The chemistry between Tom, Tobey and Andrew was just beautiful and done so well.
    Tobey and Andrew could have just done this movie for the paycheque, but they poured their heart and soul into their performance. Hopefully that Tom, Tobey and Andrew know that us fans are so appreciative of their performance. I will remember this movie for the rest of of my life, and I am certainly not alone in thinking that.

    That moment with Tobey stopping Tom from killing the Goblin with the glider is incredible. You can see three movies of experience in the look Tobey gives to Tom.
    I also like how, in the other universes, Uncle Ben died because Peter was selfish, which makes them try to be better, but with Tom Holland, he loses Aunt May because he was selfless and yet he keeps going because it's the right thing to do. Very inspiring stuff.

    • @theankh2872

      I think that at this point that should be a staple of canon for Spider-Man: have Ben die because of Peter's selfishness, then have May die because his selfness. I think it is a genius idea that Spider-Man PS4 brought to the table and that I feel should stay, it makes the character go full circle from becoming an obnoxious self serving teen to the greatest hero New York has ever seen.

    What makes the ending of this movie so good is not just that we now have classic Peter Parker in his shitty apartment, struggling to pay rent, feeling lonely, making his own suit, etc. while being being a superhero, but that unlike other iterations of Spider-Man, THIS Peter wasn't just given a bad hand in life-he actively CHOSE it. For the good of the world, he CHOSE to give up his friends and mentors, CHOSE to give up Stark tech and money, CHOSE to give up his bright future. He sacrificed everything that made him the cool Iron Man Jr. and chose to be classic Spider-Man instead. That, to me, makes this the single most faithful depiction of the heart of Spider-Man we've ever gotten onscreen, even with all the crazy shit thrown in.

Also in the trailer is a Spiderman poster with the word Murderer written on it. In the new Spiderman Garfield says he quit pulling his punches. Spiderman is known to have enough strength to toss a car easily. That kind of strength would kill a normal human if used on one.
      So the theory is that Garfield's Spiderman got to the point that he killed people when he stopped pulling his punches. The poster in the Morbius trailer is refering to the Garfield Spiderman.

    They took the time to give each Spidey a big moment that was significant to their character. Andrew is saving MJ as some level of redemption for Gwen. Tobey stops Tom from killing the Goblin since he knows what it's like to kill someone with vengeance in your heart, and finally, Tom makes a massive sacrifice in having everyone who loves him forget about him to keep them safe. The fact that Tom Holland's Spiderman was dealing with being accused of murdering Mysterio made his desire to save the other villains in the movie feel more real.
    He was being branded a murderer when he was innocent, so he was extra motivated to prove to himself and others that he isn't a murderer. I think that was a brilliant, subtle way to set up the main conflict.

    • @speagle318
      @speagle318 3 года назад +104

    • @eltravos99
      @eltravos99 3 года назад +73

      Also, Tobey stopping him from murdering was great. Tobey murdered Goblin once and years later he regrets it. He was looking for a cure for Goblin for years even though he was dead. He also murdered the guy who killed Uncle Ben and he expresses how much that didn't help him and how he regretted that as well. So when he stops Tom you can see he truly means it. He is showing Tom that there is a better way. Murdering the enemy is what you think is the simple way out. But little do you know that it's thing that keeps bringing you back in. Killing is something even real soldiers are haunted by. I think this movie teaches a great lesson on mercy even in the face of the most vicious person alive. You can kill them and try to move on but what does that do to someone years later? You think you've solved the problem but instead it's the act that is tearing you apart.

But then Toby's OG Spiderman steps in and tells Andrew that: no, his Spiderman is AMAZING. Which I agree, Andrew was a very good Spiderman in many ways. Using the word AMAZING, is also very clever because Andrew's movies were called The Amazing Spiderman.

    The look on Garfield’s face when Tom said “She’s gone” just broke me. The moisture in his eyes… he fucking delivered. He really did show up for this and he (as an actor AND the character) deserved this little redemption - I’ve always enjoyed his portrayal, just in a different way.

      Garfield has actually gone on record saying that he was afraid for Holland precisely because of what happened to him during his tenure as Spidey. So when he came on set you can tell it was because he knows, just like we do, that Tom Holland didn't get the short end of the stick and that Garfield was basically promised closure for his version of the character, which he got. As for Tobey's version... the 'It's complicated' bit about having a significant other really sticks to the idea that he's doing his damndest to balance out both Peter and Spidey.

    Everybody was great, but Andrew and Dafoe were the standouts to me. Dafoe was the best version of the Green Goblin to date. He was mean, vicious, and brutal; plus that apartment fight was one of the best scenes in the movie. As for Andrew, he brought his A game which shows that he still really cares about playing the role of Spider-Man. Also, the scene where he saves MJ and starts to tear up was the best redemption that his Spider-Man could have had. Overall, this movie was the best.

      I totally agree with you bud. The original Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire came out when in my last year of High School and I was so AMAZED by it. Like it really was made to be a comic style too, it was unrealistic in a lock of aspects but not in a way that took you out of the movie. Besides X-Men (that came out a year or two before), there were no good comic book movies back then...well there were hardly any in general. Like Punisher came out in 2003 I remember, and that I found entertaining if others didn't (much better than the sequel). I really did not mind the two Fantastic Four movies besides Jessica Alba's awful acting...don't get me wrong, she was and still is GORGEOUS. But ya she was an awful awful choice for Sue Storm. But then again her and anything negative in those 2 movies looks like gold compared to the one they tried rebooting. Do they ever make movies that get reshoots (and so obvious) that turns out well? lol.

    The fighting sequences with Green Goblin were top-notch. Before watching the movie, I thought that I'd see a lot of CGI or stunt double fights, especially when the actors for the villains are kinda old(er) now. My only minor complaint was regarding the score. I did like how they occasionally used elements of the Danny Elfman, James Horner and Hans Zimmer soundtracks, but it would have been nice if these were used in a more prominent way. For example, the final battle could have weaved between the different Spider-Man themes depending on what Peter was on screen. Instead, they just used the new Spider-Man theme, with far more conservative use of the older scores.
    This isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination. It just feels like a missed opportunity as this is likely a one time thing.

You can really feel the pain he projects and that it's coming from a real place which translated very well in what his character went through in TASM. He also brought back the little things he brings to Peter Parker's character that made it his own version that nobody can replicate. Not sure how accurate that portrayal is with the comics version, but I felt that he really put in the work to make that unique version that you can easily recognize when he's playing the character. I prayed for the day he would return and when I saw him take his mask off for the first time. I didn't scream, cheer, or clap. I was literally petrified and my heart sank and my body got hot and I was panting. I couldn't believe it was real!

    The best part/scene in the whole movie (In my opinion) is the apartment scene. Starting from when Otto says to Green Goblin “How does it feel Norman, you’re about to become whole again.” And than the chilling eerie music that starts playing when Electro and Sandman are talking. The spider sense scene and Green goblins speech and their fight through the apartment.

    My moment of “what am I seeing right now” was when Andrew helped Tobey with his back. It was so, so surreal and beautiful. It was wonderful. Absolutely magical cinema. Cannot wait to watch this again a million times.
    All the films are canon now. All of them. Time to adjust the Marvel Blu Ray shelf.

      I get what you mean. When Toby said “nothing.. my baack” I just started laughing because it brought me back to his scene in spider man 2 ofc when he fell off the building trying to become spider man again 😂 it was surreal for sure..

    This movie was basically a tidal wave of both feels and nostalgia for me, and is overall an *amazing* time. The only missed opportunity I felt it had was not having a certain someone address J. Jonah Jameson or not even having them interact at all, but it’s basically the nittiest of nitpicks.

    I honestly think Andrew Garfield turned in an amazing performance here. One of my favorite things from him is how he would subtly show elements of his Peter Parker in the background. E.g. having a discussed face when talking about Tobie's webs, or when he's dashing around the lab he would almost run into people/things in his aloofness.

    That heartfelt exchange between Doc Oc and Tobeys Spiderman was a low key favorite moment of mine. Two friends out of time with nothing but respect for each other. Unpopular opinion but I feel Doc Oc is like a father figure to Tobeys Spiderman 💁‍♂️

      Alfred Molina was my favorite thing about the movie. His Otto is such a good, kindhearted man who we got to see in those early scenes in Spider-Man 2. It was awesome getting to see him become that man again, and show is respect for his version Parker. Spider-Man 2 is still my favorite Spidey movie, and No Way Home got to tie things up in a great way.

    One thing I really loved was that Tobey and Andrew felt like Tom's older brothers, and I think that was intentional. The dynamic between the three had a real family feel to it, and that was wonderful to see. Dafoe as Green Goblin was an incredible performance, and I'm actually sad he was zapped back into his own Universe.
