Attendance still sky high at Disney lol just got back from there. Both have there issues and both appeal to different kinds of people. They’ll coexist with eachother
@@Huntbeck33Attendance isn't going to be skyhigh at Disney after 2025. Disney will be a great place to visit because the lines will be short. Everyone will be at Universal instead.
We’ll see when it actually opens. They could pull a Disney and not deliver on promises, we won’t know until opening day.

When Walt bought the land in central Florida, he was a shrewd businessman who bought most of it for cheap. But when the cat was out of the bag regarding the Florida Project he was seen as a visionary man. It took Disney over a decade to recoup the upfront cost of their project. But now it's the most lucrative and visited resort on earth. And they still have lots of land they can use.
When Universal came to Orlando the land had gone up in price a lot. But they were determined to build. And in acquiring Wet and Wild and then redoing their parking lot to add Islands of Adventure it was seen as ambitious. When Disney built their last park (Animal Kingdom) Universal owned one park in Orlando. Universal will have added three more since then and Disney hasn't even expanded the size of their parks, let alone adding another park.
The land for Epic Universe has been extremely expensive. But Universal just believes in their work. They would kill for the extra space Disney has, but somehow that isn't holding them back. Meanwhile, Disney continues to remove rides despite having space to expand. And instead of new attractions or parks, they just build more resorts (mostly for the Disney Vacation Club.) They're finding more ways to squeeze people into their parks instead of building more. I guess that's cheaper in the short term.
Disney once hadthre long term vision of a man who was willing to invest for over a decade before the project paid off because he believed in the project. Now the Disney Company does not think that way. But somehow Universal is thinking that way. And they're doing it when it is MUCH more expensive to be ambitious in Central Florida.
Well, theme parks often aren't as profitable as resort hotels. When Disney has wanted to offer guests a new immersive theme, it's made more sense to build a Moderate or Deluxe Resort and restaurants around it instead of building restaurants around dozens of new dark rides.
Arguably, Disney didn't really need to build Animal Kingdom. They'd have been fine with just the Animal Kingdom Lodge and offering upcharge "safari" experiences there. It would have put them in a much better position to overhaul EPCOT and Hollywood Studios in response to WWoHP, and the thematic elements of the Asia section could have been condensed into a Himalayan resort. We wouldn't have Expedition Everest (not in that form, but maybe a similarly sized one would be themed to Moana). Still, a dinner show with an animatronic yeti that consistently worked might have been created for a Deluxe Resort.
Of course, if WDW had 3 parks instead of 4, Universal would probably just make do with Islands and Studios. SNW and the Ministry would be squeezed into Studios, Toon Lagoon would get a DreamWorks overlay, and Dark Universe might have replaced The Simpsons, if anything. Glad that's not the case, though, and both Disney and Universal will have plenty of opportunities to improve those 7 parks in the coming years.
It's so grand, that's way different than the other Universal Parks, I really like it.

I watched the 7 minute video they released. I'm most excited about the Classic Monsters area. That's something Universal has made some use of over the years but I'm really excited to see a full immersive land with Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster, The Wolf Man and all of the classic Universal monsters. Even if you aren't a fan of old school horror, you are familiar with these versions of the characters. They're just ubiquitous in pop culture.
I just hope it isn't just a cheeky shooter dark ride. I'd love to see a really immersive haunted house ride. Haunted Mansion is still my favorite ride of any type in the world but Universal may just have found a way to dethrone it.

Mario is only gonna be a small portion of this massive park lol and it already exists in Japan and Hollywood. And to be fair Disney is way more than Mickey lol he only got his first ever ride a couple years ago haha

It really does look epic.. It's not just a clever name.
I've been following the inside leaks of this park for a long time now and I've been in talks with my sister about making a Universal Orlando trip in summer 2025 or winter 2026 (whichever one our schedules allow). My niece will be 8 or 9 years old then, and I can't wait to see if she'll be tall/brave enough to ride Starfall Racers with the rest of us! But even if she isn't, her younger brother is a huge Mario fan so they'll definitely have a blast in SNW.

I'm really glad they got rid of the arches in front of this park. It didn't make any sense to have arches in front of Universal Studios and then also have arches in front of Epic Universe. Especially when Islands Of Adventure doesn't have arches even though it's also a Universal park. Islands Of Adventure has its own focal point at the front gate with the lighthouse. So I'm glad they changed the arches to be something uniquely specific to only Epic Universe.😮
I was thinking the exact same thing! This entrance is way cooler and stands apart from USF.

It looks really beautiful and I'm sure everything there will be well done. There just won't be enough to do. Without lines it would be a half day park, but because there's only like 5 rides, everything will have a 5 hour wait.

Construction is 75% complete. It will be finished by December 2024. Here's hoping they open early Spring 2025.

Wait so what’s Disney again?
It's really amazing to think that since Animal Kingdom opened Universal will have opened three more parks. They have nowhere near as much room to build as WDW but Universal has more ambition.
Meanwhile, Disney has not expanded their parks, they've barely touched the water parks and they continue to remove beloved attractions (e.g. Great Movie Ride, Maelstrom...etc) instead of just expanding outward. But what do they add with all that space around their parks? Boring uninspired Disney Vacation Club hotels to make timeshare money and pack their busy parks even more.
Universal would kill for the space Disney has for development but Disney has no interest in actual park expansion (let alone adding another park.) Yet Universal is still expanding.
And when you look at the quality Universal has been pumping out for years with things like Forbidden Journey, Diagon Alley, Velocicoaster, Bourne Stuntacular, Hagrid's, and now this masterpiece. It's clear which company really cares.

I need an explanation as to why Universal keeps creating racing themed rides (Fast & Furious and Mario Kart), but keeps using slow moving ride systems for them. 🤔

The video only shows the central hub. There will be 4 themed areas on opening day, and some more later on.
There are 11 rides:
2 in Celestial Park (3 if you separate the 2 sides of Starfall Racers)
1 in Wizarding World Ministry of Magic
2 in Dark Universe
3 in Super Nintendo World
3 in HTTYD - Isle of Berk
The amount of walking from one attraction to another looks rather large. Should help with line wait times.
I also just want to add that my vote for an expansion land goes to.... Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. 🤷♂️
Wondering how they're going to handle the timeline for the Wizarding World land, though. If Circus Arcanus existed during the main HP timeline, its freakshow elements would be gone. So if the land is set during the main series (like the Ministry of Magic dark ride), then it might be framed as a commemorative / anniversary performance. Given how badly Crimes of Grindlewald was executed, it doesn't make sense they'd actually set the land in 1927 and use a DEM / CPD Time Turner to jump to the main series' timeline. But Cursed Child exists, so a ridiculous Time Turner like that is basically canon now...
There's literally a time turner above the portal in the concept art. Everything in the land itself will be themed to 20's wizarding Paris. The plot of the ride queue will involve a time turner propelling riders in time to after the events of Deathly Hallows: Part 2 with Umbridge on trial. The ride will end with the time turner being reversed, sending us back to 20's Paris to exit the ride.
@animationdude5 Yeah, I saw the Time Turner, but that doesn't require Place Cache to actually be set in 1927. The land would just look as it did at that time. Given how dangerous time travel is considered in Prisoner of Azkaban, routinely sending tens of thousands of Muggles 70-80 **years** back and forth in time every day violates established in-universe practices. Combining Floo Powder with time travel is convenient, but also massively stupid.
@brianfoss571 I understand and agree with you. I'm not defending the creative choices they've made, rather just stating that those are indeed the ones that have been decided on by Universal Creative.
Obviously, Epic Universe was in early planning stages when it was decided that more Potter was needed to bring that massive audience to their new park. No one at UC could imagine just how underwhelming the Fantastic Beasts movies would do with critics, fans, and at the box office. They had designed themselves into a corner with 20's Paris as the "main street" of shopping and dining. But they hadn't committed to the main e-ticket attraction. Rather than invest ungodly amounts capital into a Newt Scamander based attraction, they could give fans what they have been asking for years...a Ministry of Magic dark ride.
@@animationdude5 I get that, but even after Secrets of Dumbledore flopped, UC would have still had time to design the *exteriors* for a bit more age and weathering. They've had the opportunity to "dress the set" around the time of Deathly Hallows, and it's a shame they aren't. Maybe they want to leave a Fantastic Beasts ride open as an expansion, but they could have done that by centering it around Rolf Scamander and Luna (if Evanna Lynch were willing to film / record extra material for it) instead.

There will be 4 other immersive themed lands as a part of the park, just not shown in this video. Nintendo, Harry Potter, Universal Monsters, and How to Train your Dragon.
Are the Universal monsters being reimagined? That would be disappointing. The classics are classic for a reason.

Universal hasn't released anything for the specific lands yet in this style

This is just a section of the park- the central hub. There are 4 themed lands all around it with plenty of amazing rides and attraction.

There’s 11 rides, they only showed one of the areas. I’d recommend looking at construction updates on other RUclips channels
There is a Mario Kart dark ride, a Yoshi omnimover, a Donkey Kong coaster, a Monsters dark ride, Wolfman spinning coaster, a huge Harry Potter dark ride, supposedly a show there too, a HTTYD coaster, a sky fly, a water ride, and another show there on top of the carousel and the Starfall Racers coaster.
Pretty good opening day lineup….and they’re already working on plans for expansion.
