This looks fun and interesting but I can't help but think a slow moving, interactive shooter type ride is just a bad fit for Mario Kart. But Mario Kart specifically should have an element of thrill, in my opinion. I will wait to fully judge until I've ridden it of course...
I have been on this. And you comment is spot on. Very slow ride and no element of thrill. I will ride again when the line is short. Going again for tech rehearsals and passmember preview 1/29. Overall, I was not impressed.
When you have radiator springs racers at Disneyland, it's hard not to wonder what could have been. I agree this ride system is better suited for Luigis mansion.

Trackless is a lot more expensive and tbh is probably unnecessary with the AR goggles on. Also trackless shuts down so easily if people drop something on the ride. Yes, trackless is the future, but if it doesn’t help much for an experience like this, why spend the extra money?

I rode this last week and I found that the AR didn't work well enough. Because they don't encompass your full field of vision, it isn't seamless and it was just distracting. I didn't even notice most of the incredible physical aspects of the ride :( Left disappointed unfortunately
better than Universal Studios Japan, it's much bigger and many other characters, if go to japan it took almost 2 hours waiting time just to play this, it's insane
I would think a Mario Kart ride would of had more of a Space Mountain dark ride themed around Rainbow Rode with stars everywhere and a lit up rainbow track
Those vehicles are really working overtime. You can definitely hear all the onboard computers' fans just full blast. Perhaps they can later invest in some quieter fans.
I love it how the ride goes slow so people like me are not scare and people who have issues with fast rides can still ride it because it’s slow and if they have problems with things like the ar they don’t have to use the goggles
id love to see a nintendo world giga coaster of rainbow road sometime in the future, that would be the ultimate nintendo world attraction and it would be so fun
This was really cool! I got to experience it on the good guys side (Team Mario!) and I had a lot of fun! It’s a really cool ride that really uses AR correctly! Also, that ending with the riders getting the Starman and it transitioning to Rainbow Road was seamless! It looks like you’re actually in Mario Kart!
A fun ride but it is finicky. Waited over 2 hrs, about to get on and the thing broke down. Fortunately they fixed it sometimes in the next few hours, and at 9:30pm there was basically no line. Hopped on twice then! On the second run, the cars did pause for a while, was wondering if it was about to give up again...
This is super cool. It would be awesome if they had like a Mario Kart inspired bumper car racer as well. That maybe times the racers on who can complete 3 laps in the quickest time, with a scoreboard and such.
This is really cool the sets are really impressive. I do wish though that the actual karts themselves moved faster. I love the feeling of going fast and nailing all the turns in mario kart and I was hoping this ride would encapsulate that more.
I quite liked this ride! looked this up because I felt like I kind of missed out on all the physical scenery because of the AR. It's a but of a shame that so much of it got lost in the clutter of shells and karts flying around. Because you have to look to aim you are looking at the AR a lot more than the actual ride.
i've been waiting for this for YEARS!!!! and this is what i get? i guess it'll do. but it had such potential! (the rainbowroad part killed it!) but the rest is lack luster to me. guess i'll have to ride it to give it the official "go".
I'm still baffled by the fact that they made a "Mario Kart" ride a slow interactive attraction, but this looks really good nonetheless. In my opinion, they should have just named that ride something else and kept the Mario Kart name for a fast Test Track-like ride.
I mean you have to remember Test track/ Radiator Springs Racers is a big ride, speed = space, for a high speed mario kart ride you would probably need a plot bigger than the land and ride show building combined
@@benskelton1723 Then, they could have skipped Mario Kart entirely. They could have made an interactive ride based on Mario Sunshine, a space exploration ride based on Mario Galaxy, a Luigi's Mansion haunted house, etc. It's not like Mario Kart is the only thing Mario is known for.

This is probably the best dark ride Universal Creative has come up with. Great elements with and without screens and the AR tech. Definitely putting their best food forward with Nintendo…
Just seen your comment....what is a dark ride? I thought rides was just rides etc. Does look epic though only problem is I'm in the uk so need to win the lottery to be able to afford a plane ticket to usa, theme park entrance ticket.
@@marckentzer1435a dark ride is essentially a ride in the dark, or a closed building. Disney started it first, anything ranging from snow white to haunted mansion to even this is considered a dark ride
@@himynameiscorey ah ok, I see what you mean. So basically it sorta started from the old ghost train rides at uk fairgrounds. Always interesting to know. I'm 35 soon (27th this month) but I'm a massive geek, would love to come to America an see it for real, plus visit Disney, but I'd definitely have to win tons of money 💰 🤞. Ooh an defo meet optimus prime 😃🙂
@@marckentzer1435 yeah stuff had been around long before disney but they somewhat coined the term dark rides in relation to disneyland
Who's here after Bill Burr's podcast? Still laughing😂
I love that this takes a lot of inspiration from Mario Kart 64 - the best Mario Kart imo
I hate to say this, but all of the coin collection noises in the outside areas would drive me batty.
2:39 where's that theme from?
I was hoping it was gonna be a thrill ride like the Cars ride at Disney. But I will say this is a total upgrade in terms of rides for it being at universal studios hollywood.
Are there no clever ways to disguise the warehouse ceilings? I had the same thought about Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway; both would look so much better if the theming wasn’t limited to the walls and floors.
This is THE most incredible thing I have ever seen. My mouth was wide open with joy just sitting watching this at my computer... As a lifelong Mario fan from Mario 64 on, this is really special to see.
I believe it's Disney World Japan where the outside stuff is a lot the same for Yoush's Adventure Ride.
Its universal.
Honestly, this looks great with or without the AR glasses.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone who has any motion sickness issues had any problems with this ride. Looks fun as hell but I have a feeling I may need to load up on some Dramamine ahead of time
I had no motion sickness problems on this ride while I had them with literally every other ride
Amazing blend of digital and practical. An instant classic!
@@user-lk5cq4lo6l I mean maybe, but they could probably do a better job with a speaker.
I hope Universal Orlando brings something more thrilling
THIS RIDE IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
I love it how the ride goes slow so people like me are not scare and people who have issues with fast rides can still ride it because it’s slow and if they have problems with things like the ar they don’t have to use the goggles
This really should've been a coaster, but at least it's an actual dark ride and not another motion sim
id love to see a nintendo world giga coaster of rainbow road sometime in the future, that would be the ultimate nintendo world attraction and it would be so fun
Kinda was hoping it’d be at least as fast as the Lightning McQueen ride at DCA. 🤔 But maybe AR makes it feel faster?
This was really cool! I got to experience it on the good guys side (Team Mario!) and I had a lot of fun! It’s a really cool ride that really uses AR correctly! Also, that ending with the riders getting the Starman and it transitioning to Rainbow Road was seamless! It looks like you’re actually in Mario Kart!
Looks like a ride for toddlers, thanks for the video I wouldn't bother going on it.
Does it blow stuff at you? Like idk toy story mania?
Ooooh... I was looking for Bullet Bill. He was in the glasses. Very cool.
Universal sure does love rides with Screens
It looks pretty cool. Think it would be better if it was a trackless ride.
I thought skull island region of kong was the worst ride in universal but this ride has taken its place
This looks awesome! I can’t wait for this experience.
Oh, that's really better with the image from the AR Glasses, at first I thought this ride was pretty weak until the later footage from the glasses.
This is really cool the sets are really impressive. I do wish though that the actual karts themselves moved faster. I love the feeling of going fast and nailing all the turns in mario kart and I was hoping this ride would encapsulate that more.
good channel! You got a new subscriber😆
Those are some pretty amazing sets! The land itself is awe-inspiring. But would've expected a Mario Kart ride to be... idk, faster?
Loved this, hope mario and nintendo stay forever, big part of peoples childhood and even getting older nice to see it still relevant
It looks awesome!!!!
Wow! I didn’t even know Team Bowser could win! I rode this ride twice this weekend and both times Team Mario won
In my opinion, they should have just named that ride something else and kept the Mario Kart name for a fast Test Track-like ride.
was thinking the same thing, something like in Cars Land at disney
You need to ride it with the AR visor on. It feels 100% faster and much more wild with all the effects.
@@MichaelFromTheAttic the original concept involved a super mario world dark ride with a more generic Mario adventure theme
However I think Nintendo liked the interactive concept of Mario kart
The queue is absolutely stunning!! Some ppl we were waiting in line next to hopped out of line and took pictures!! We were in line for 3 hours tho and the ride broke down while we were in que
