Ara Grace I haven’t come out to my father but I think to a lot of fathers their son being gay makes them feel like they failed to raise their son to be a man and they lash out in anger because they think they made a mistake that they can’t fix

I was 24 when I came out to them (1972). One or two of my siblings were tough to deal with (I am the youngest of 14). As time passed they accepted it. They didn't like it but they accepted it. What a wonderful world it would be if we didn't have to come out. If we could just be people.

Watching these series about these 3 guys that are in there 60s / 70s of age and telling about there life and story about who they are and there sexuality makes me smile and be proud of being who I am as gay male. I’m only 20 now. But I told my dad when I was 15 that I liked boys and he was ok with it. I’m a big depression and have mental health issues. I try to tell my mom but she doesn’t believe it. She think I’m straight and every girl that I bring home as my friend, she believe that I have sex with them and soon getting in a relationship and married. And that’s a one of the biggest issues I have with myself and feeling sad for. I sometimes think that if I was straight and having a relationship with a girl. she was gonna be more happy in life and proud of me if I was straight.
I’m always watching these 3 guys when I’m in a bad mood or sad.
I hope you all beautiful people in this comment section having a beautiful day.
Be always proud of who you are, remember that.
I hope that I’m not alone about this feeling and life point.

I know I’m not your mother but I am a mother. And all I want in this life is for my children to be happy and healthy. That’s why I gave them life. So that they could live it. I’m sure your mother feels no different. It dosent matter who you love baby, it matters that you are HAPPY. From a parent to a child, stop beating yourself up. You are who you are and that is not for anyone else to decide. You also love who you love and that is no more of a choice than the color of your skin. And just because you’re gay dosent mean you’re any different than the baby boy she held the day she gave birth to you. You’re still her son. You’re still important and valued. You’re still HER son.❤️

I watched this with tears in my eyes. I really don't have the words to say what's in my heart. So "Thank you". Thank you for knowing what you would face from family and friends and coming out anyway. Thank you for staying true to yourselves and trying to make this world a better place.
It's because of all of you and others that I don't worry about my "baby" brother. Oh I have the usual big sister worries but I don't have to worry someone is going to beat him to death because of the fact he's gay. He has a good solid job with room and the opportunities for advancement, he has a wonderful boyfriend (I just wish that they would start adopting as Auntie needs babies to spoil) and most of all he is happy.
I know it doesn't even begin to heal hurts from your pasts but thank you from the bottom of this sister's heart. 💛

I'm having withdrawals so when these guys come on or the older lesbians, I watch it a few times to spend time with my "people"! ❤❤❤😉😊🙂

Robert reminds me of my great aunt Dave. We called him aunt Dave because his partners name was also Dave, and he was one of my favorite people. He was soo lovable and he never had to tell anyone he was gay either, we just knew. He lived in PA and we are in MO, so we rarely got to see him but when we did it was always soo much fun. He passed away about 10 years ago from a blood clot and complications with his HIV. Yall just made soo many wonderful memories come to my mind, and I just want to say you are all soo loved and just wonderful 😊

Love these three men. I've heard of stories of parents chasing after their kids to prove that they are gay and that is a horrible thing for a young man to go through. Let alone being threatened to be killed by their family for being gay. I enjoy hearing their stories and coming from a straight man, this is very inspiring. Cheers lads🍻!

When she died, my mother spoke about it in hear eulogy, saying “She always wanted us to understand that gay is OK. I have such admiration for these guys. I find it somewhat ironic that the definition of 'gay' is light-hearted, carefree, bright, happy. Sadly my being gay has never allowed me to be these things. With hindsight I would have been better staying in the closet, and before other readers start shouting at me, this is simply my experience of coming out and gay life. I speak only for myself.

I love that for them coming out is coming to terms with your own sexuality with yourself and not all about telling other people. This is one of the things that sadden me about today. despite the huge progress we’ve made a lot of us are still living in dangerously homophobic environments and yet there’s so much pressure on closeted gays to come out to their family and friends and be open about it to everyone, when the thing that matters most is to be open about it with yourself, enjoying and living your life FOR yourself! the rest will happen eventually.

I recently came out to my mom last week on my boyfriend and my 1-year anniversary. She's 66 next month, old-school in many ways, but she was so supportive! I didn't come out gay, I'm bi. But the stress and worries are still there. All the hatred from people is all the same. As soon as you like the same gender, no matter if you like both, they focus on 'same gender' and call you gay, throwing that hate all the same. But, my mom was so supportive. I even told her I have 3 pairs of thigh high socks and that I love them, and I caught her looking for new pairs for me the other night! I love her so much! I haven't come out to my brothers yet, but I don't think that's as important as coming out to your parents. Though, I'd love to be able to wear my thigh highs on cool or cold days around the house all the time instead of just when it's me and my mom and my brother is off at work. I love you guys, keep it up! You're such an inspiration!
