The person who came up with the idea to take all the greatest action movie actors and put them together to make the expendables was a genius.
That would be Sly.
That would be Stallone. Originally, he wanted Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis to be part of the main team, but Arnold was busy as a politician, and Bruce wasn't interested, so he got Jason Statham and Jet Li to take their place. It worked out in the end. Arnold and Bruce at least got to join in the fun in the second one.
His name is Sylvester Stallone lol
Why make the movie terrible then
@ThomasT92 It was more of an experimental film. There are flaws no doubt, but it was a success. Gradually they’ve gotten better.
I never get tired of seeing jaws drop when Terry comes in with the boomer, mowing down the enemy.
AA-12 Automatic Shotgun with 50 round drum, uses 24 different types of ammo including grenades
@@TimmyJEuchida The recoil suppression system that makes it accurate and usable by anyone makes it even more insane. Its a shame they are very expensive, very rare, and very hard to even qualify to be allowed to own one legally.
@@absolutezero6423FPSRussia used to have them
Terry Crews shotgun is an AA12, fun times were had with it in MW2(2009) multiplayer(only drawback is the lack of ammo).
With all the great classic movies you guys have watched so far, you can imagine and appreciate how long anyone growing up watching 80s and 90s action movies had been dreaming about finally seeing Sly, Arni and Bruce sharing a scene in the same movie.
Eric Roberts plays a good CIA spook too 😎
Statham for the basketball court scene alone. The most badass moment of this movie!
this
4:35 That's Randy Couture. And the song playing is "Keep Your Hands To Yourself" by The Georgia Satellites, an excellent 80's One-Hit Wonder.
8:07 No way, Man. Eric Roberts is The Best Of The Best (1989).
8:30 The Fan-Service here is Legendary.
11:05 "I got a fever, and the only prescription, is more cowbell". Mountain - Mississippi Queen is an awesome and under-known tune these days.
20:35 For me, Statham is the biggest draw, and this scene doesn't disappoint.
Funny thing about Lundgren. He plays these big meat head parts but he is actually VERY smart. Lundgren does have a degree in chemistry.
he will mention it later ^^
and is a former European full contact karate champion
@@Gr8BuccaneerI was gonna say, that actually comes into play
Finally you've entered an action movie lover's dream come true in the making since the 1990s.
One of the hardest films that Stallone has ever made as an action star and filmmaker.
Right after Rocky Balboa (2006) and Rambo 4 (2008).
Co-written and created by David Callaham:Godzilla (2014),rewrite of Ant-Man (2015), Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings (2021), Spider-Man:Across The Spider Verse (2023).
The cast, chemistry, filmmaking and action sequences are superb.
So many homages to the action genre.
If you can spot them out, you know what they mean.
The sequels are magnificent.
The upcoming EX4 looks great.
If you watching them all, strap on tight.
Watch out for the debris and shrapnel.
Dude, it's crap
The car chase reminds me more of the one in Cobra (Stallone Movie) than a Fast and Furious movie
The chase was made as an homage to Cobra.
Especially with the truck being a Mercury.
I love Jason Statham. If you haven’t seen his transporter series you should watch that. Also his remake of death race is really good (like he’s cut hard good).
He’s good in Fast Furious also. I’ve grown 2 really like Jason
"Coke" comes from the coca plant
Cocoa has nothing to do with it.
*XD*
So happy you guys are watching The Expendables! One of my favorite movie series ever. You should absolutely checkout Inferno, the feature-length documentary on how this movie was made. Sylvester Stallone wrote and directed this movie as well as starring in it, and watching him and the way he thinks about every little detail is super duper awesome. He was 63 and a half while making this, and fractured his neck fighting with Steve Austin. He also was getting over bronchitis, had shingles, and about 14 other injuries while making this movie yet he didn't stop. Stallone is the definition of badass. He never gives up even when things are really really tough, whether Rocky or Rambo or The Expendables. Can't wait for you to react to the other two!
Stallone is underrated as a director. His handle on action choreography is especially good.
He and Steve Austin really were going hard during their fight scene. Stallone had a hairline fracture in his neck as a result.
30:06 Stallone did break his neck when he landed here. He had to have a metal plate put in after filming was finished. Austin felt horrible but Stallone had told him to really hit him into the wall. Austin also had his neck broken during his wrestling career.
Yep and Sly also just had his 7th back surgery. That’s why he tells people now don’t do your own stunts
The movie (series) instantly jumped into my favourites of the genre, I'm not against another re-watch yet and it's been a few. "What happened? - I got my ass kicked". While it's over the top and with a wink and a nudge, it's got tiny little moments that make it more "real" and making sense than many "serious" productions, like when it's hand-to-hand, but when Christmas gets thrown and the opponent is aiming to aim his AR - there's no bullshit moves, but the most motion and time effective: he shoots with a pistol guy's kneecaps (every tenth of a second comes, no time waster on raising the gun or self to aim higher) and kills him when the AR threat is thus gone. Brilliant, amazing - I think Jacko himself would have done the same. Next installments are each more over the top than the previous one, but they still get these precious little moments of relatable real effectiveness.
I'm really hoping 4 will be like Mr Christmas here ("I was worth the wait").
For the Mrs....the weapon Crews was using in the final battle, is indeed a fully-automatic shotgun. It's called the AA-12. It was developed by the Atchison company, in 1972. It is now manufactured by Military Police Systems, Inc. It has a cyclic rate of 300 rounds/minute, from either an 8-round box mag, or a 20-round drum mag.
No one cares gun nut
I can’t wait to see your reaction to The Expendables 2!
I remember this movie came out the same week as Eat Pray Love, which stared Eric Robert's sister Julia. Talk about a sibling rivalry.
Her face @ 30:28 😂😂
Thr manliest man movie ever made. If actuon and adventure had a baby, this would be it. Saw this in the theater and when the shotgun scene came on, it was so loud you couldnt hear the yelling and clapping. It was completely awesome.
"Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man" Loved that movie!
I believe the shotgun they're using is the AA12 with a bigger clip possibly, but yes, great shotgun that looks and shoots like a rifle but shotgun spread. I'm glad you guys are going to watch them all
And can legit fire mini explosive rounds. Jesus Christ....
Glad you finally watched it. Still looking forward to cobra when Stallone is concerned.
One of my fav Sly movies
*Give this job to my friend here, he loves playing in the jungle*
I think that was a jab at Rambo, but Arnie must have forgotten that he played in the jungle too. (Predator)
Anyone else hoping they do a reaction series of Sons of Anarchy? I’m really surprised they don’t have reactions to
1. Sons of Anarchy
2. Breaking Bad
3. Game of Thrones
Screw BB, but I'm all for SoA and 87% for GoT.
As a kid in the 90’s watched all these guys solo. So as a teenager/young adult to see them team up like this was amazing!
I am gonna straight up comment this whoever knows THE EXPANDABLES is my freind without introduction
watching all the action heroes i watched in my childhood line up in a team was nothing short of mind blowing they might be old but they are fit strong and bad ass than most
"Now he's Stone Hot Steve Austin."
Hahaha!!!
I hope you guys watch the Expendables 4 when it comes out. No longer a trilogy but a saga 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😁😁😁😁
They coined the term here, Gunner "went Frankenstein".
8:30 I believe this was just after Arnold Governator, so he could be in film again. Man respect this trio. Great jab by Arnold at the end. Sly wrote it.
They used to be box office enemies, for no reason. Wait, the agencies had a reason
i love the expendables movies, so much fun. a long time ago i heard about an all female expendables movie but i think that idea got squished
"You just got dolphed"😂
well Artist are the ones to use Art as Secret Hidden Messages for targeted Location Attacks and also as a Symbol for recruitment to become a Resistant Fighter...that is why in the past Artist were the first to be taken away whenever a dictator took control of a town/country.
“Whose that guy?” Joe Rogan openly weeps and doesn’t know why.
"Did he just spear.him(Stallone)?"
"He wanted to be like Goldberg for once."
😂😅😂😅❤
4:35 Randy Couture, MMA legend
Cool so y’all HAVE to do Expendables 2 & 3!! 2 is the best one for sure! SO MUCH fun and action
I went into this movie with zero expectations of a decent story and just raw action, we got the raw action, but we also got a decent story tying it all together.
The story's as shitty as can be.
Best part by far is when Terry Crews shows up with that huge auto shotgun. Just hilarious.
The guy who's neck they broke eas Gary Daniels. He made quite a few martial arts B movies in the 90's.
After this movie I remember all of a sudden every action movie had that Terry Crew gun (AA-12) and shockingly enough it is legal to buy
Awesome reaction guys and great series you;ve started, you should also check out The Losers which came out around this time unfortunately this all star cash blew them away even though it was an awesome action adventure. Keep it coming :)
9/10
Everything an Action Movie should be, times 2!
Get ready to cheer. Be ready to laugh. Be ready to be amazed with wonderful, live action fighting scenes using everything from fists, to blades, to guns. I don't know how this movie avoided being cheesy, but darn it, it did! Mindless explosions? Not really. Excessive? Again, not really. I hate the sort of climax usually seen in an action movie where the pyrotechnics are the show. I want to see the actors/stunt-men doing their thing. I want to see people. I can see fireworks on the Fourth of July. (Though, trust me, there ARE fireworks in this movie, too.) The balancing of this many stars is incredible and pulled off remarkably well. When Sylvester Stallone made his final Rocky movie (Rocky Balboa), he said he did it as a "thank you" to the fans. Maybe that was the idea behind this one, too, though I heard a quote from somewhere that after seeing wimpy Tobey Maguire as "Spiderman" full of CGI and a stuffed/padded suit, he realized action heroes like himself were, well, expendable.
This is fantasy baseball and fantasy rock-n-roll camp for adults all rolled into a wonderful action flick with enough of a plot to give the characters motivation for their action. A deep plot? Heck no. A predictable plot? Certainly. But trust me, if you thought you've seen it all before, you have yet to see "The Expendables." Thank you Mr. Stallone!
First off sorry for the long post
Fun useless facts about this movie. 1) Steve Austin actually broke Stallone necks (not intentionally obviously) and Stallone continued to work for another two months before getting it fixed with surgery. 2) Mickey Rourke stated he will always be grateful to Stallone for giving him the job. Because he had burned bridges with everyone in the film industry. He stated he would have worked for scale but, Stallone made sure he got paid as well as everyone else. And finally Expendables 3 is the hand-off to Christmas (Jason Statham) being the focus of all of the future Expendables movies. So, most likely no more Stallone which, considering his age is understandable.
Dolph Lundgren used a 203 grenade launcher for the blowing the man in half. The scene where Stone Cold speared Stalone it broke his neck. Stalone had to have pins put in his neck because of it.
M79 Grenade Launcher for Dolph at the beginning
The AA12 is the military toy you might be able to buy 1 for about 4K they where talking about making a civilian version that is semi auto but don't know what happened to that idea
Thanks for this guys! This was cool! I cant wait till you do part 2. My fave from the franchise. Mrs. MOVIE....GOOD Choice on your fave expendable...my fave was jason and fave kill was Jason kicking down on oh boy's kneck
From what i understand AA12s are legally just extremely rare.
It starts with fingerpaints and crayons. Before you know it, they've moved onto glitter.
Would've been awesome if Rambo and Dutch from Predator had a gun in their movies like Terry Crews had in this one. Badass gun.
I am not a fan of guns in general, but I got excited when Terry Crews showed up with the automatic shotgun.
"What did he say?"
"Nothing. He just burped in my ear"
30:30
Yes, that is the face everyone should make when encountering an AA-12 full auto shotgun.
The only thing with more firepower at close range is a minigun.
30:28 best part of this reaction
Rambo, Terminator, John mcclane all working together? Oh the enemy is FUCKED
Expendables hell yeah!
This was the gritty one I loved it.
They grow coca leaves.
I love these movies. I was not a huge fan of the second one, but loved the 3rd instalment.
I always thought only the first one was good. But honestly after rewatching all 3 when I got the collection, they really all are fun af. Like if these came out in the 90's they would be hyped af.
DOLF'ed! Awesome! LOL
Mickey is also great in Sin City and Domino
The E Ticket Ride Christmas did way better than Leonardo on bow of Titanic 😅
ALL THREE ARE GREAT!!! ALL ACTION STARS I LOVED!!!!👍👍👍👍💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Tom Cruise could be a excellent Jedi.
Here I said it.
Seeing the cutty mess that is the action in this movie just makes me appreciate even more that we have movies like John Wick nowadays.
I can't wait for you guys to watch Expendables II.
That was a full auto shotgun with frag rounds
As someone who grew up and idolised these action stars, the Expendable movies were painfully disappointing.
Terry's shotgun is AA12. it is legal with a special tax
"who's that guy?" Dead silence. I take you guys don't watch MMA, that guy was Randy Coutoure. 😎
29:20 It is a mix of real fighters and Hollywood. Randy, Jet and maybe Jason and Steve are real. Dolph is gone already. By far Randy (UFC Champ) will most likely win 1 v 1
You would have to be very strong and tough handle an auto shotgun like that!!! They kick like a horse!
You can get the semi auto , shotgun , in AR style, with a drum,.. under $500, .. they are awesome
Awesome video reaction!
Arnold did this while he was still governor and as a favor to Stallone so he is not credited in this one.
Decent Stallone voice, my man!
Actually cauliflower comes in green, purple, yellow and white.
Uuuuuh finally someones reacting to this ❤❤❤❤
"DEADWOOD". AND " SONS OF ANARCHY" BOTH GREAT SERIES, YOU'D LOVE👍👍👍👍😍😍😍😍
you can definately get one of those shotguns legal, it just wont be full auto unless you got 30 grand or so.
Yes, the AA12. There's a couple other full auto shotguns on the market now too. Semi-auto is almost as good and a very wide variety of those.
@@scottstephens5443 Oh yes, there are quite a few decent ones that have a high amount of directionalized hate
At the time this was decent but nothing special, then a year later the Raid was released and set a higher standard for action films.
i dunno man, for people who grew up watching the action flicks with all these legends this was insane, i remember everyone talking about it. ofc Raid is far ahead in therms of choreography, stunts etc but this has that oldschool charm, its amazing.
Check out The Condemned (2007) with Steve Austin in it. It’s good movie also.
Eric Roberts plays great bad guy💖💖💖💖
I still can't believe Eric Roberts and Julia Roberts are brother and sister
Gunner had an m-79 With a grapeshot round at the beginning. Terry crews was using the AA-12.
Now watch some jet li movies!
thanks
Mrs. Movies likes to party. Hot Rod would be upset.
cocoa and coca are different plants
Happy STAR TREK Day. 🖖
you can legally purchase a semi-auto AA-12 shotgun with the drum mag... just a heads up
Cacao is chocolate right?
Jason Statham and Jet Li have made more than a few flicks together, although three of them were Expendables entries. The one I would recommend is ... "The One". Sadly, "War" is pretty forgettable.
if you didn't, i should watch The Sandman tv show (2022) with Tom Sturridge, its very cool
Yea the action is cool and awesome and all but the real best part of this movie is Mickey Rourkes monologue
00.00 now I know.
The product placement.
2010 hmm
Please tell me how the cacao plant ends up becoming cocaine?
You have to watch the Rush hour movies😊😊😊
-"whos that guy?"
-i dunno Blank stare
That would be the one and only Randy" The Natural" Coture a Greco-Roman Wrestler turned MMA fighter and UFC heavy weight and light weight champion
