As a Canes fan, i’m in pain right now. We have lost basically every free agent, and we didn’t trade necas😢
I'm sure Utah will be in on some of these guys. Lots of cap space and new owner has made it clear he is here to make moves.

I bet him being around Hughes and under a tocchet system really upped his game; Being able to be around the world's best defenseman definitely influenced his play because his offence really started to go off when he was traded.
So that price will only justify itself if he has top tier defensemen having his back.
The Kane to Buffalo prediction lasted 10ish hours haha.
The Kings probably won't be going for a center. They're probably moving Byfield back to the middle to fill the spot vacated by PLD, so the one center spot they would need filled is that of the 4C, with could probably be filled from within the organization
Lizotte is hitting FA so now I could potentially see them going for that even with Turc/Thomas taking a C spot
Besides getting scoring we need left D that can handle playing with Dewy.
Kane to Buff would be incredibly random at this point, as all reports have him choosing between the last two teams he's been with.

Friedman has stated his money is on Nashville getting Stamkos. When one of the biggest insiders in hockey says something like this that is a pretty good indication of what is to come.

Darkhorse prediction: Canes are the ones who sign Marchessault or Stamkos. Canes aren't as afraid of spending cap if it's shorter-term.

I'm looking at Vegas's cap space and I really don't know how they get under the cap without trading some big name. 1.8m in cap space and they don't even have a full roster ready. They still need to sign Petera and a couple bottom six forwards. With Theodore due for a pay raise in the 2026 season, it's gonna be hard for them to keep their core. Barbashev probably being shopped right now.
I want Stammers in Mtl so bad. This year can be the year we begin to turn it around and a veteran point per game leader would be amazing for our young core, especially with his connection to Marty
I disagree he's 34 and trying to get paid and very likely to regress to a point his contract is heavy on the cap in about 2-3 years exactly when MTL's core should be developed and a contender
@@bravepotatoe7513 realistically we would only be talking about a 1 to 2 year deal, Slaf is getting paid next year but mtl has over 9 mil available rn with plenty getting freed up next year between armia and Dvos contracts
No. Just no. Understand the enthusiasm for a such a legend, but it wouldn't be wise. We need another year to see what we have. If the guy was 26-28, sure dude, 100%.
Also let's be frank, the Habs have the habit of catching the freaking black plague especially the season before the last one; I mean Christ...). And considering Stammer's injury past...
Finally, the explicitly said that they want their younglings the space to play, to show what they can be. Too many vets that aren't part of the future goes against that philosophy.

I think Stamkos ends up in Nashville. They have a lot of cap space, Tennessee has no state income tax, and he’s the type of player that Trotz would covet
Seems like Nashville would be a good fit - just wonder if he likes their style of play - not sure - have not watched them much with Brunette but it would seem like a good fit and Nashville definitely needs scoring.

According to Sportsnet Patrick Kane signed a 1 year deal with Detroit and Guentzel came to terms with Tampa. Apparently Zadorov wanted a 6x8 deal why he didn't sign with Vancouver.
I see Zadarov going to the Nashville Predators, to make their team even more huge. What a scary team they would be to play against.

You know if you told me that Tampa would be able to sign a player like Jake Guentzel I’d think you were smoking something…turns out that’s becoming a reality
Well I still hope Teräväinen signs with Canes. Was kind of hoping as Guentzel left money would be used to keep the working core.
But then again, maybe Tarasenko and Teräväinen switch places. That would be nice... for Panthers.
Utah might pull some big buy like Stamkos or Marchessault, but might find use for Teräväinen as well.
We already locked in Kane so hopefully we now also add Stammer to that!

I'd be surprised if Tarasenko signs with Carolina. Just last offseason he fired his agent after reportedly agreeing to a deal with the Canes. I don't think he wants to go there.

I don't understand why Canada couldn't give pro hockey players tax exemptions at a reduced rate and tax incentives for donating to Canadian charity organizations. Then there's an incentive to come to Canada. Players don't get taxed too hard and they keep some by giving back to the community. As a Canadian, I could care less if a pro is paying their taxes. I'd just like to see the opposite of what our reputation has become. Let's up our chances and make Canada the premier for Hockey again

I don't know much about FA/contract rules so can someone explain to me why only Florida can offer Reinhart a 8 year contract?
That's just the way the rules are.
When he hits unrestricted FA he can sign max 7 year contracts with any team. His current team gets an advantage and is allowed to sign him to an 8 year contract.
