I met Gary Cole at an event. I told him my favorite role he has done is Harvey Birdman. He laughed and said it was one of his favorites too.

I remember him when he first got started with "Midnight Caller" tv series.
He is awesome as the lead in the miniseries based on Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald, the doctor who was convicted of killing his wife and two young daughters.
Also, he was HILARIOUS as Mike Brady in the Brady Bunch movies.
He's great with deadpan.

Hanna-barbera cartoons the two guys that made tom and Jerry before they made it big with flintstones, Jensons,smurfs, yoggy bear and a bunch of others so basically if it's a character on this cartoon it probably was a hit tv show

and true lol certain animators didn't have a note on it so he randomly became left handed in some episodes (sometimes it would flip flop throughout episodes) and when their budget got a little bigger they added shoelaces.

the extra layer of it actually happening in Johnny Quest is pure gravy. I always wanted them to be able to do a Spiderman episode because the 60s cartoon was so bad lol. at one point Spiderman webbed a window, punched a hole in it, and then opened said window normally.🤣🤣🤣

_Harvey Birdman_ was one of the original series that Adult Swim premiered with in the fall of 2001 (like, three days after 9/11). The others were _Home Movies, Aqua Teen_ and _The Brak Show_ . The first HB shown that night was the gay Johnny Quest custody fight!
Two first ballot Hall of Fame shows and Pro Bowler that led to Metalocalypse, Bob's Burgers and the career of H. Jon Benjamin. Early Adult Swim was LOADED.

IMO, Adult Swim had three great animated shows -- Harvey Birdman AaL, Space Ghost CtC, and Sealab 2021. All three had the right amount of Zucker Abrams Zucker-style goofiness without being too weird or violent.

I didnt watch much of this show but I seemed to remember Harvey being an incompetent lawyer. But he seems to be... actually decent?
Watch the first season. The latter half of season 2 and on-wards just completely misses the whole point of why the show was funny, being the then great animated slapstick and pacing.

It's basically a parody with the court system with hanna barbera cartoons, making fun of them how they have had their mishaps and accidents, taking that into court, and making such an elaborate court room setup so tremendously funny, you'd have to watch it twice before you would be done with it. AND I MEAN EACH AND EVERY EPISODE (except season 1, make that 4 times in a row).
This came before Drawn Together.
Also, Roger Rabbit was the first.

I never got the show when I was little since I never understanding law drama but but now after watching it again I now understand this was really great watch.

The first episodes' animation was much better than the latter seasons' episodes.
This show made zero sense, but it was awesome as hell!

I'm just going to point this out for the unaware, Harvey Birdman dies in the last episode (not really a spoiler given the episodes name), but in the penultimate episode, Deadly Duplicator makes one other copy of Birdman who is clearly never shown to be erased or killed off in any way, thus giving the possibility of the real/original Birdman still being alive doing who knows what.
Of other note, it'd be nice to see this show come back, if done right. This was an amazing concept of work as a show and was great seeing all these characters interact in such a way, basically spoofing and mocking a franchise in such a fun way.
Well, considering that he's now a General Attorney (I think?) and Phil's somehow alive and president, looks like we've got another season.
Spoilers for Harvey Birdman Attorney General (which IMO was cringey in parts but overall I liked it a lot):
Props for the theory but I guess it's too much of a cop-out even for this show. What happens there is that Harvey was basically resurrected by Mentok.
