Ditching something that has been an option for 40 years is crazy to me. I'm still driving my 2013 F150, so I don't have the new tech. I use the crap out of my keypad. You mentioned saving $10 million. Ford had a net income of $1.3 billion in the first quarter of 2024 alone. In 2023, Jim Farley earned $26.5 million. I'm pretty sure they can keep it and be fine.

Writing this that hopefully someone from Ford will see it. I have owned Gmc/Chevys most of my life. I have owned one Dodge and quickly learned it is not for me. I bought a 2021 F150 back in 2022 and fell in love with it. I brag to others about how smart Ford was when designing some of the features. My number 1 favorite thing that I can get that no other truck has is the keypad entry. I'm in and out of stores 5-10 times a day with my business and I leave my truck with wallet and keys in it while is running. Just a quick tap of the buttons and I'm in and out. If I had to take my phone with me it will disconnect from bluetooth and over all be 30 seconds longer to open an app wait for it to connect and unlock. I have had a buddy who just got a 2500HD Gmc and it is starting to look appealing after hearing this news. If you want to work on something Ford I got a list for you. This is how you could win/keep customers:
    1) Make headlights/taillights that last more than 100,000 miles. (led). If we do have to replace them don't make it cost $3000 to replace a damn headlight!!! as quoted by my local Ford dealership. I replaced my tail light this week and it cost $1200 for the part alone. I am not going to replace the headlight that has part of the LED out. I hate it but now the world gets to see that it isn't made to last. Oh and by the way there are about 3 other trucks I see daily with the same issue. That is ridiculous!
    2) Fix the cover that goes on the tailgate step! I haul 5 gallon buckets of paint every day and slide them off the tailgate. When doing so it rips the cover off and I have to clip it back on. It recently flew off and now just looks bad/cheap. When I brag about the good things like the keypad/storage with the center console I also tell people about the cheaply made tailgate step cover.
    3) Figure out the bluetooth kinks. There are times when my phone and Apple play just don't get along and I have to pull over and restart my truck to get it to connect properly. A lot seems to do with if my phone disconnects while the truck is still running (if I take my phone inside the store)
I have a list of good things and at the top is that keypad. I really hope Ford listens and brings this back. I'm waiting to see what 2026 has before I buy a new truck but where I was completely sold on the F150/f250s I will now be looking at GMC as an option if Ford keeps down this road.

You are spot on with point #1. I have a 2017 F350 Platinum with 115k miles. At around 90k miles, I made the mistake of swapping vehicles with my wife one day to save some fuel since I had a farther trip for the day than she did. I got back home and noticed that she had backed into our fence. I feared it broke the taillight and sure enough it did. I thought the dealer was joking when he told me $1400 for the light. I started looking online and found some cheaper ones that were OEM, but they were still outrageous. I don't typically like aftermarket, but I ended up with Morimoto XB red taillights. They are close to factory in look and were $700 for the pair. I figured if one breaks in the future I'll only be out of $350 this way haha. Ford needs to get these lower in price for sure though. Now almost all vehicles gave LEDs and $1400 plus for a light is ridiculous!

I drive a new gmc everyday the Apple CarPlay on it is very glitchy. It takes along time to connect-the screen distorts at least once a week. So I am not sure it is better than fords. Plus the gmc interior seems very cheap. And the transmission likes to jump and clunk really loud sometimes when I put it into gear: it has 4000 miles on it and it is a 3500. So not sure if these things are an issue in a 1500. But since it’s a work vehicle my company uses I don’t have to deal with repairs. But because I drive it, I won’t get one.

As ridiculous as it sounds I would not consider other brands no matter how nice because of the keyless entry keypad and wondered why they didn't offer it as well. I am in construction and also fish, hike, camp and boat and leave my keys and wallet locked in the truck so that I don't lose them. I also leave a spare key in each vehicle and use the keypad to access them when my keys are in the house. Like Jassman3536 stated "Taking the security code is a MAJOR MISTAKE!" Personally I believe that the Lariat is the sweet spot in the Ford pickup truck line and removing the leather seats is a mistake. Just my 2 cents.

I also see the Ford Navigation feature Mitch said was discontinued the same way. There are times when, in remote areas, that Android Navigation cuts out. The Ford Nav app, that I pay $65 yearly for, is a great backup.

Look, most people don't care about the Ford Pass ap. Some of us older guys hate tech and just have pagers. I'll call you when I get home for lunch. I am and have been for the last 24 years a Lariat man. Now to take away my leather seats and 20" wheels is a mistake. Sure, my 2015 was a Platinum and was my favorite F350 but in 2020 prices went way up so I went back to a Lariat. I'm now ready for 2025 but I want leather and a Platinum is about 5k more. With all these price increases across the board these lower trim equipment groups will possibly get the guy into a bare bones or less optioned truck but don't take the middle guy of the equation as well. Taking the security code is a MAJOR MISTAKE! Personally, I feel all these trucks are about 10-12% too expensive and quality, though appears to be better is lacking in other areas. Rebates and low interest rates are what is desperately needed to sell the massive number of trucks on all these dealers' lots. The fact that you promote invoice pricing is a major plus to buy from y'all. Peace out.

Wow I'm glad that I snagged a '24 F-150 XLT (302A+packages) at Invoice Price(US$60K after taxes). The tech functions are growing on me esp. that 360 cam and Keypad system. I thought the only thing missing is a heated steering wheel for our Canadian winter here. Tbh some of these changes makes sense but that keypad add-on is indeed a miss and an opportunity for greedy dealers to take advantage of. I guess 2024 inventory will be more attractive especially at Clearout prices. Good luck out there

What the H E L L. FORD….. I love the keyless entry on the door…. What if I accidentally lock my keys and phone in the truck… always had a way in. Apps go down, the keypad always works.

I love it when dealers act like tires matter when buying a new vehicle. It’s a wear and maintenance item. It’s like saying you get premium oil and washer fluid.

I love the keyless pad entry system. I had this on an Escape that I was leasing years ago. My job required me to fly a lot and I liked the fact that I could leave all my keys in the vehicle locked at the airport, and not take them on the trips with the chance of losing them or forgetting them at the hotel or something.

Just had a customer come in Yesterday for their 2025 Explorer. One of the first thing they mentioned was the door keypad code not being there. Im glad its still something that can be added but annoying it wont come from factory. I can definitely see how pricing for it would get crazy but my dealer is keeping the price at $455 with installation.

auto start stop is no longer a button and you have to go through menus in the screen to access it.

Fords key code is the single greatest device on vehicles ever. I use it at my shop when people are picking up their vehicles after closing, I program the same code into my kids cars so we can access and drop things off when they are at work, I even was transporting a car for a local dealer one time before cell phones and found myself locked out of the vehicle in the middle of nowhere when I noticed a five digit number hanging from the key inside the car, saved the day. I love the key code and if it’s ever gone I’ll just have to drive old stuff
