I got in during their early days of pre-order for these just based on the fact I couldn't find an '85 cut Chicago rep. I have a bunch of kicks in my rotation, but these have been my daily since they arrived. I gotta say I love them. With their flaws and all, worth every Yuan. 😂 PS: I can't get over how more comfortable they feel compared to other J1's I wear.

The shape looks better in this video than in the pictures i've seen! Not a fan of how the wings logo came out, but it's still only the first batch. I plan on buying a pair when it becomes time to sole swap my 85's.
Wings even look good, I know they are heavier embossed and black red they will do less embossed. Even with ogs depending factory the emblems were light or heavier embossed
Great review! These still are reps though and theirs nothing wrong with that. Rep Developer boring is just a way smaller factory that listens to the community he’s replicated other sneakers like the Mcfly dunks and usually does reps of concepts or customs. I think as a community reps shouldn’t be bashed as long as you’re not trying to scam or false claim as authentic. It def helps you obtain sneakers that are ridiculously priced and overall the love of sneakers is what should bring the communities together.
I won't argue the "rep" reproduction, retro, replica it goes on.. everything even by the brand these days is a rep technically from the originals in 80s. These guys and other customizers are just doing it better.

If one is made by Nike, but another made by a “rep” company with better shape, quality, materials, which would you rather have type of debates. Is there anyone doing this for other Jordan models? Probably a lot harder to recreate OG shape Jordans for any other model than the 1s but would love to see remade 5s or 7s.
Once they perfect these a little more im definitely getting a pair instead of waiting another 5 years or so for jordan brand to give us a 85 chicago, and these look a million times better than the VRL pairs, especially for the price point
@@barrackobama3167 the shape alone is much better, i never liked the VRL pairs shape wise and price wise, you definitely dont get $600 worth of leather on them 😂 they dont even give you the right laces with them, the shape of the midsole is also not the best in my opinion
I don’t think it’s the placement of the swoosh that’s off. It’s the size of it. From what I read, they based the size of the swoosh off of an original size 12 retail pair and didn’t really change it accordingly for each size, which explains why it is larger than your OG pair. I also wonder if the outsole won’t start to curve up more like a boot as they’re worn. Nevertheless, these seem awesome
I'm no expert in construction but it seems the swoosh can be cut shorter to slide back just slightly so it can be elevated, hence the black at heel will also be taller. No doubt it's a great shoe and feels great on foot and supple leather
Thx for your time . mine, bred and chicago 85s ship out 4/29 , waiting with anticipation. 2.0 versions dont have the production date stamp inside. now they have size custom DB . i guess a way to tell the ORG. DB from the 2.0 DB. also the 2.0 have developer boring stamped insole not this NIke Air . Not a big deal at all . just a change from the Org. DB .
Just wondered if you got the 85's ? . ... I was going to order "Defective" pair from Developer Boring and reading / looking for reviews . Do you like yours ? ,,, Curious of size also . I wear 11.5 ,,, but they have 11 & 12 . Do they run a bit big . Another review said to go with 11's . Thanks for any info .

What’s their sizing comparison to VRL? I normally wear a 10.5 in Nike but the 10.5 in VRL seemed a bit roomier than the typical AJ1. Been pondering if I should go down .5 a size with these. Really appreciate your breakdown of these🙌
It is a bit too pointed but luckily doesn't hurt your toe. I had issues with the pointed playoff 8 rubbing my toe. The DB upcoming black/red actually looks like they corrected the toe box too.
Replica I feel is trying to make a copy of modern retro and confuse consumer. A lot of these custom companies are doing their own brand etc and attempting to make them like they were in 1985. That I can respect and my opinion on topic. Quality is better than what JB has been putting out as well
Can u make a video based on all custom/handmades with HVND and VRL along with DB as a comparison? I've been debating between em for a while n never had a side by side. If there's any more in the handmade market, add em in bc i'm SCOUTING for the perfect 85 cut
@@ogorbust1697 Ur an actual life saver bro honestly. I've been NEEDING. a video like this for months now n it kinda came full circle as ur channel was the first time VRL crossed my mind and opened me up to their masterful craftsmanship.
@@ogorbust1697 Yeah they're definitely my top 3 contenders atm. They've got the accuracy. If VRL had the back of the tongue be NIKE copyright along with a whitened mid sole instead of that coffee washed look, that would've easily been my go-to. HVND comes in very close but i'm still not a fan of the 1985 prototype swoosh along with the "mid" like collar (VRL does their collar better). DB honestly seems like a blend of the two. If they made their swoosh a lil smaller but raised better (like u said in the video) that would be beautiful. Plus their flat/pointy toe-box is beautiful. Just comes down to their restock and if they take commissions and feedback into what I wanna have in my order. Price is gorgeous too IMO.
I missed the first batch in my size unless I size up an entire size but man these look amazing especially when compared to the OG. Hope they come out with a second batch I think I may had missed it in your video: Leather thickness wise are DBs thinner or on par with the OG?

Definitely, as seen here it's as thick as the og. 85s depending factory have different leather thickness, I will be doing all 3 customs together soon
