- Ask and you shall receive.. here is 3 different custom Air Jordan 1 makers, all Chicago style! Viberemakelab, HVND and Developer Boring with each their personal take on this 1985 Nike classic.
Jordan brand is the one making reps now, these are authentic 😂
Developer Boring I believe has the very best shape & quality. I absolutely love my pair. The swoosh on my DB pair has the swoosh same size as the OG 1985 Player Editor for Michael Jordan. Absolutely Amazing!
Very nice pair for sure, swoosh is a bit larger than OG too like the pe as you said.. same with hvnd. Vrl is more og gr specs
nah VRL is so good. im drooling. they look better every time i see them
I love them all lol just certain details I like about each.. vrl overall taller BY cut is 😍
I reviewed a pair of the DB's. Crazy how good they look here against the others considering the price difference. Great video
Thanks man, price is right and quality comfort are there.
Vibe remake lab really stands out! Man I wish I had those
Honestly If you don’t care/appreciate the history of the shoe(s) and you esnt them cuz they look good and will good with your fits, I’d say go for reps/ customs. Save your money. But someone like me who grew up watching Jordan, whose family was heavily involved with the fashion industry our whole lives, I appreciate the history of Jordan & quality of materials used on clothes/sneakers. Etc etc
Another great review! I think that too often one could get caught up on where the shoe is coming from instead of the shoe's make, material, and quality of the details that make the shoes special. I've bought shoes from the brand itself and knew almost immediately that there were things off about the measurements, shape, and overall quality which was off-putting. Personally I'd choose DB over Lost & Found hands down because I think the details were done better. The bigger swoosh I really like, the red on the tip of the toe box is a tad bit on the high side, but prefer that over the steel toe shape, (HVND nailed it) and the other cool detail is the shape of the sole on the DB having that slight arc mid then drops at the heel along with how the white heel leather area creases. On Jordan's last game as a Bull vs Knicks, his creased the same way. Cool stuff!
I totally agree with all the comments made and these 3 custom makers are doing it out of passion and attention to detail. Quality as well and why some "folks" can't recognize that is just sheepish. Recreating a sneaker the way it was made 30+ years ago goes way beyond "running a corporate business" and I totally support it. DB for example using the Chicago 1 as it's starting point and making even more improvements as the black/red will be coming next..
COULD NOT HAVE SAID IT BETTER.
These smaller companies are putting better materials, more true shape to the OG, etc vs the company who made the original, but keeps cutting corners(when they have every ability to do better).
I’m personally going to spend my money on the better product. Nike/Jordan Brand doesn’t pay me to be so brand loyal that I blindly follow them.
Great review bro! Your vids on VRL helped me make the decision to cop two pairs, and I have no regrets because you're right when you said it's an investment. Seeing a VRL pair in comparison with the others makes me even more glad that I went into buying reps from people who care about quality.
Great man, glad I could help! Anyone who looks down on what any of these customizers are doing is just naive. Even the retros are technically replicas from 1985, some just remake them better.
@@ogorbust1697 I absolutely agree. Just clarifying btw, did you say at the end of your vid that you would take the HVND pair overall with pricing out of the discussion?
@makeshift2384 overall with shape and materials yes, HVND is superior and luxury. They actually have the original lasts from 1985 to construct their og 85 cut aj 1s. It doesn't get better than that. Can't wait to see them. These were inspired 84 cut, MJ pe and they kinda free handed it, crazy work how close they are from reference photos of MJ
AHHHHHH NICE!!! You made the vid!!! Thanks so much for doin this man! Massive thanks!
My pleasure, thanks for watching! Hope it's helpful
Does the DB not sit flat? It looks like it doesnt? Either way im grabbing my pair. Definitely appreciate these vids, great job!
Thanks, DB is a very flat outsole and lays low. Great shoe
Great video man. As much as I like the Lost and Found I have to say the reps look much better. Jordan Brand totally missed the opportunity to give us something close to the 85’s. They mailed it in. I’ve got the ball rolling on getting a pair from DB. Just waiting to get details from them to preorder a pair. Excited to finally have a pair of Chicago’s I can wear.
That's great, you'll love the DB. The shape and leather is day and night vs the lost and found
JB will never give us anything close to '85 Chicagos. They'd totally kill the market value on OG 85's and hence some of the prestige.
The lost and found is a Air Jordan 1 High Visionaire painted red with cracked collars, the white panels are the same cracked leather. Nike put minimal effort in l&f... Sadly
DB Did Great On Those Looking Like The 85’ Actual Pair Along With VRL & HVND So I Want The DB Pair I Saw The Sample Of Black/Red If It Possible They Should Bring Em And Royals
Just ordered 2 pair after seeing you bring them up have the lost and found also personally I can’t pick which is better just yet but I’m happy to have both in the collection 🤙🏾
These DB are definitely closer to og. I always appreciate a variety of Chicago 1s if you follow me on IG you'll know lol
@@ogorbust1697 been following for a min love the OG breakdowns and posts
With the HVND they use donor soles from modern Jordan retros rather than make their own like the others. That’s why it significantly different from the other 2.
They are sourcing "retro 85" soles for their 85 cut that they are now making
@@ogorbust1697 that’s interesting to know. Previously I talked with them about using an air ship sole as I wanted it to feel like a OG. A retro 85 they were willing to do but they recommended not doing it as it would cost a lot to source it and push cost up.
How sad is it that the actual “authentic” pair looks worse than the reps😂
Coulda shoulda woulda used the retro 85 shape but.. everything is a reproduction of the OG if you really think about it. Some just do it better.
IKR?!?! Crazy how bad they look next to a more 85 form fitted custom.
it's a custom not a rep lol, ya'll need to stop calling everything '' reps'' shit is ruining the sneaker game.
@@mbuckets3 what do you consider a "rep"? Replica? Reproduction? Isn't that what a retro is technically of the originals?
@@ogorbust1697true,retros are replicas of the original.
13:24 Not the case. It unfortunately has nothing to do with how fans feel, though I like the "High 85" and own every pair except the New Beginnings. Jordan brand has outlined their tactics for the foreseeable future as follows:
Air Jordan 1 "High OG" will be only new colorways
Air Jordan 1 "High OG 2.0" will be reimagined versions of OG colorways
Air Jordan 1 "High 85" will be OG colorways, PEs and samples.
Did you happen to get the Chicago 2.0 or the Bred by DB? You did such an awesome job with this video, would definitely want to see your thoughts on the latest 85s out of DB's shop.
Thanks man, stay tuned! I did order the black/red 2.0 and will be touching base on the 1.0 updates and og comparison
Like your channel alot man. I plan on ordering a pair of Black/ Red 1's from developer boring. Is the size the same as a regular jordan 1? I wear a size 11. Let me know if you see this. Thanks.
Hey man, the DB are a bit more roomy in toe box than the retro 85. Thanks for watching!
@@ogorbust1697 Ok thanks man for responding. I appreciate it. You know your stuff when it comes to Jordan 1 85s!
I just ordered my pair from DB yesterday. Can't wait to get them in hand.
You'll love them! 🙌🏻
How long did it take?
@@cjclark7010 around 10 - 14 days is all.
I like all but absolutely love my pair from VRL, best jordan 1 in my collection. Does the toebox not crease easy on the DB coz it looks too thin to the eye? Great review 😊
Thanks man, yeah all 3 pairs are wonderful. DB leather is very supple broke in super easily and leather kinda rolls like og no hard creases etc
🔥🔥🔥🔥
How are the DBs that price?
@@DashDrones super value!
I really like the VRLs. How much do they cost?
They cost 600 plus I think like 59 dollars for shipping. The leather on them is perfect. Those shoes will last forever!!!!
Plz send me the where to buy these I need a pair !!!
Which pair lol
I would buy the db one but its too expensive for me
DB is the cheapest around 150 shipped tax etc. Way cheaper than retro '85
048 Markus Squares
How's the fitment? True to size?
@@jedialpha2 yep, all 3
We need somebody to make a 1983 Nike Double Team hi handmade
vrl all the way, db messed up the toe
Its a bit pointed, they are releasing 2.0 and it's improved a lot
@@ogorbust1697hopefully it is better when they launch 2.0 because I've been seeing yt vids for the db customs and they mess up the collar shape and the swoosh shape
would reeeaaally wanna buy db for its price, but let's see if they pull it off right with their 2.0
@@ogorbust1697waiting for the restock in march so I can get any size from db can’t wait too do a comparison
Reproductions aka fakes.
Replicas are retros, right? Yes.
